Dragon has announced another Pz.Kpfw. VI kit, this time an early production version depicting the vehicle “TiKi” of the Das Reich Division.

Tiger I Early Production "TiKi" Das Reich Division (Battle of Kharkov) (6885). This new kit allows modelers to create “TiKi” straight from the box. Whilst this kit utilizes existing components from other Dragon Tiger I releases, it will also include new parts such as the gun mantlet, the storage bin on the back of the turret, the spare-track bracket, as well as some of its on-vehicle equipment. Kit 6885 also comes with a decal sheet for 4 marking options, and DS one-piece tracks.

It's already started on FB lol. Your efforts are very appreciated to bring this very unique and storied Tiger to life. Sadly I just blew the last of my budget in the DML "bergetiger" with borgward and the Tiger I with borgward.

David, are you sure the camo is 3-tone? and during Kursk Tiki was numbered S34 (with the word Tiki or without?)?

The camo has been interpreted by different people in different ways. Usually as sand over grey. Well, I'm pretty sure the original Das Reich Tigers were not grey, but "tropical 1" RAL 7008 / 8000. They were repainted in the spring of 1943, when this pattern appears. The other Tigers of the company were painted in various styles, and it's obvious that more than one person was painting. But, what colours? I don't believe they washed off their whitewash to get the underlying original paint. It seems like a lot of trouble. When they lose a side skirt, you can see the whitewash still under it, in late summer. Looking closely at the photos I can see 3 colours, two dark and one light. It's more obvious on some Tigers than others, because of the different styles of painting. But I think that I can see 3 colours on "Tiki". So, when you ask yourself, what three colours were likely to be used in Spring 1943 to paint a Panzer, there's only 1 answer. As for the decals; I can assure you with photographs that they are all good. David
