Meng is releasing a special edition of the King Tiger in memory of the Caen Battle, 1944
The TS-037 German Heavy Tank Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Porsche Turret) is a limit edition product MENG will release for the memory of the Battle for Caen.

The model is 290mm long and 108mm wide. This kit has a total of 567 parts. This kit provides the options for the King Tiger (Porsche Turret) at different periods. Its main gun and bow machine gun are movable. This kit includes a metal barrel, link & length tracks, fine PE parts and assembly jigs.

As a limited edition kit, it also includes a souvenir for the Battle for Caen: a 1:50000 scale military map of Caen drawn in 1944.

The SPS-060 German Heavy Tank Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Porsche Turret) Zimmerit Decal and SPS-062 German Heavy Tank Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Porsche Turret) Interior Set will be released at the same time.

Well, if Meng wants to depict a Normandy vehicle, it would have to be first company of the 503rd Battalion, not the third, which still had Tiger I tanks. The third company went to Mailly Le Camp, east of Paris, to pick up their King Tigers in August, just before the Normandy front collapsed. They drove back through Paris, trying to rendezvous with the battalion, but were assigned to support a Luftwaffe field division north of Paris, and lost all their tanks. Two vehicles which had broken down at Mailly were recovered and rejoined the battalion at Paderborn later in the month.

More importantly, why a Caen commemorative edition? And without Zimmerit and an interior to follow as an option? Why not simply buy one of their (or Takom's) excellent earlier releases? Oh well....
