For what-if modelers Trumpeter offers another E-100-based kit, this time featuring a different turret.
E-100 Heavy Tank – Krupp Turret (09543). The kit contains 250+ parts in plastic and photo-etched details. It includes rubber tracks as well as a generic decal sheet for the balkenkreuz and turret numbers. The finished model stands at 311.8mm in length and 127.7mm in width.

About time. Trumpeter's original kit with Mike Rinaldi's speculative turret was fun, but this was the design they had actually intended to build, had it been approved for production, It has the Maus II turret with the flat front and a rangefinder. The secondary gun was above the main gun instead of alongside it. In reality, the more powerful engine called for in the plans never appeared, and the E-100 would have been absurdly underpowered with the Tiger engine. One suspects the side skirts would have been ditched early on, had it ever reached service.

A realistic paper panzer. Hmmm... sure, why not. The hobby is supposed to be fun and getting too wrapped up in what-ifs can be fatiguing.
