RMG have been very busy of late and have released a number of products for both the armour modeller and diorama fan. Take a look inside and pull up a seat so to speak.
RMG has been missing from our review and news pages for some time, something that I am happy to change now and hopefully ongoing. RMG has released a new set of tow cables for the Sherman tank and alike vehicles. Also looking to meet the needs of modellers who like their model details just so RMG has released a set of locking pins for universal use and 12 included in a pack; I believe that should be enough for three vehicles.

RM159 – R Double Locking Pins – 1/35th scale

As I said RMG has not forgotten the fan of the diorama, and what diorama involving a building would be complete without a crapper? RMG has released a resin 1/35th scale modern low level flush toilet. Looking at the images supplied I was impressed that the detail is accurate even for a toilet laying on its side; I wonder if they tried to make a cistern for it?

Wow...never thought that I'd see a toilet on this site. Not exactly European though; would need one with a wall tank and a pull chain. Maybe next time?

Frank we do have this type of toilet, but you would be correct if thinking prior to 1960's 70's.

Frank we do have this type of toilet, but you would be correct if thinking prior to 1960's 70's.[/quote] We had toilets with the flush tank as backrest in Sweden at least as early as 1955. When I visited Germany as a kid and saw the first wall mounted tank and the chain to pull I was surprised. Germany has a mix of tank on/in wall and tank behind seat. They also had (still have?) the type where the "deposits" land on a little shelf and the flush water pushes it off the shelf and into the sewage pipe. It is wise to close the lid before flushing since the water impacting the little heap can splash about .... Doing a big dump may require intermediate flushing to avoid the risk that the heap reaches up to ones rear end .... The only advantage of these is that there are no splashes when the "deposits" hit the water. / Robin

As kids we used to refer to the toilets with the shelf and absence of water as "Stink cans" for obvious reasons, and yes, I was thinking of the wall-tank and pull chain set-up for the war years. Or East Germany up into the 1970s. Or certain areas further east...

WHO would have thought that a TOILET could generate far more commentary than a set of Tow cables???

In the apartment building in Flensburg where my grandfather lived there was still the "stink can" with a wall mounted tank in the 1970s. It was a shared toilet, in a little closet on the outside of the between floors landing in the staircase. No heating so you froze your butt off in the winter, no sitting down to read the newspaper, strictly business and do the business as quickly as possible. He got a regular bathroom in the late 1970s The seat-only combined with tank on the wall is still being sold in Germany. Don't know if they have abolished the shelf type though. / Robin

I rigged it up as a fountain using the garden hose to the amusement of the local h.s. kids.
