One of the most refreshing ventures this year was the start up of Jakrei Miniatures by Pete Morton. Pete has now sold on the complete range to Ian Hanratty of Friendship Models who will be distributing and selling them under the name Wee Friends.
Friendship Models have purchased the full range of Jakrei Miniatures including the unreleased figures (20 in all).

Production of the figures will continue in white metal, and sometime in 2008 the figures will be released in resin as well. The figures will be produced in both mediums for the first year and Friendship Models will assess which medium is most popular. So if you have a preference Friendship Models want to hear from you.

The range will continue to diversify with some modern subjects Pete Morton is working on, as well as a Historical 54mm Culloden Highlander which will be released at Trucks and Tracks at the end of February 2008.

Wee Friends will release a couple of WW2 Germans after Trucks and Tracks as they do bring the money in but the focus of the WW2 line will remain on Allied subjects.
Ian says his intention is to have 30 Post 1914 figures in the range by Euro Militaire in September available in both resin and white metal.

Wee Friends plan to release figures in other scales also. These include a 54mm historical series, 75mm and 120mm historical and fantasy series, a 150mm fantasy series and a range of figure busts including a 1/6th scale Michael Wittmann bust. There will be a range of Romans and Celts that Pete Morton did the masters for originally and is reworking at present. These are scheduled to be in production by Euro Militaire.

Ian says “I am currently looking into a range of British Tank Crews, with the possibility of doing them as multi pose figures. There are so many ideas and themes I want to try and do over the next year or so, it should be a interesting time for Allied Armour modellers, we may even do our own range of vehicle accessory sets.

Interesting times indeed.
