Due to the release of the AFV Club M5A1 Formations have reissued their M5/M8 Solid Road Wheel sets.
Last Autumn Rob Ervin of Formations cut various items from his line of products, either because of a lack of demand or because the items were now available in plastic.

One such item was F037 M5/M8 Solid Road Wheel sets Now because of the issue of the new AFV Club M5A1 kit and the fact that Terry Ashley of PMMS replaced the kit wheels with this set for his review of the kit, there has been so much demand for the item that Rob has decided to reissue them.

The set includes 10 wheels with back side detail, so you have two as spares to display on the tank, and the late solid plate rear idler wheels. The set will no longer include the drive sprocket parts, as Rob feels the kit parts are ok, and the new price will be $10.

Pat, Are these really a big improvement over the new kit's wheels? Or, are they an AM "want?" Your thoughts? I ask because I really like the idea of building one of these "toy tanks." I'm happy AFV Club has an updated version. Mike p.s. I've "bantered" back and forth with Rob recently about some Sherman items for a 105mm....It wouldn't be much to add these if need be. (which leads me to this: Rob is really a kool dude....very informative, very forth-coming with advise....got a kit you want to "juice up?" He'll give you a variety of options. I've been VERY pleased with it so far!) Not to often you'll run across a company that will "talk" with you and ensure you'll get what you really need versus what they want to sell you. If I happen to do another Sherman beyond the 105, Formations is where I'll go....period.

The rear of the solid wheels are open, like the Tamyia wheels on their Sherman's. So you can decide if you need these or not. Guess it depends on whether you care about open backs or not, or if you are using the solid or spoked wheels. For the few bucks they go for, personally I think they will improve the model, if you want or need the solid wheels for a particular model.

Thanks Dave, I'll keep it in mind. I don't have the AFV kit yet.....merely "heavily" pondering it.... Gratis! Mike

Mike, I don't have the kit yet but as Dave says for the price of the Formations set I'd go for it.

Lemme see what Rob can do as far as adding it.....I really do want a "little tank." From what I'm gathering, this one will do just about RIGHT. Thanks guys.....these kinds of inputs do indeed sway one......gratis! Mike

Mike, As Dave points out, it depends on the vehicle you want to model. According to Brad James' In-Box review: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/3024, the AFV kit comes with 3 different wheel options.
