MENG posted a press release covering their latest model kit announcement.
The Jagdpanther Ausf. G2 tank destroyer, which entered military service in November 1944, was the last Jagdpanther variant that entered combats. It used the chassis and engine deck of the Panther Ausf. G tank. Like the Panther Ausf. G tank, it was fitted with a heating system for the crew. Like earlier Jagdpanther tank destroyers, it had superior firepower and strong armor. In the meanwhile, the Jagdpanther Ausf. G2 had some changes that reduced the labor and time consumed in production to a certain extent. According to their experience from operations, the German army added a general crane base on the top of the Jagdpanther Ausf. G2. When itís needed, they could install a general crane to lift ammunition and other heavy equipment, or to replace or repair the engine. Thanks to these changes, the Jagdpanther Ausf. G2 became more adapted to the needs of battlefields.

This TS-047 German Tank Destroyer Sd.Kfz.173 Jagdpanther Ausf. G2 model kit is the latest MENG Panther series product. The finished model will be 289.7mm long and 97mm wide. This kit includes a jib crane for lifting heavy things and the engine, Fine PE parts, metal cables and PE side skirts. Surface details incl. weld beads, cast texture, cutting marks and hot rolling texture are outstandingly reproduced. The suspension system can be upgraded with the SPS-049 German Medium Tank Sd.Kfz.171 Panther Late Production Tracks & Movable Running Gear Parts (sold separately). This kit is a realistic replica of the last Jagdpanther heavy tank destroyer variant. Itís a must-have collection.

Kudos to Meng for including the crane! Gives the modeler more display options for sure.

I need this and the G1 so I can replace my old Tamiya JPs.

While this is undoubtedly a great kit I think that I have one of these from RFM with the full interior somewhere in my to-build pile, so my interest is marginal at this time. I'd like to see a build comparison at some point.

You're missing the point... This has the crane. And a little t of people don't have one in their stash to build.

True enough Stevie, but the real point is the tank; the crane is about as important in the grand scheme as the "limited edition" crewman in my RFM kit. Besides, the crane is available aftermarket and so can be used conjunction with ANY kit. I'm using mine on one of my King Tigers.

No your missing the point he's making. sure enough this doesn't apply to you because you've already got a model of this variant, but for those on the lookout for a G2 the addition of the crane is a nice incentive to buy this kit over the others. From having little choice a few years ago we are now spoilt for choice, the more the merrier.... Alan

Great it has the jib crane but does it have an engine to remove with the crane?

Boxart says "and engine included". There are however some comments on Missing Lynx that indicates errors if the CAD image is the final model. Some may disagree. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/missinglynx/new-meng-jagdpanther-g2-t322633.html

Hobbyeasy has this on preorder at less than $30US, which is a deal given that some new kits are going for twice that. Too bad I donít need one, but I expect at that price some guys will be picking more than one or two. And itís due end of next month, too.
