Looks like a good set although I'm not sure I like their new artist....looks like an out-take from Shrek!

It seems to be what in Spain we call a "refrito", I think the 9 figures were already sold under "Shangai Dragon" label with their large dinghy (three different figures with extra arms to make the nine poses + grosser flossack 34) and the 4 other the ones from set "barbarossa 1941". But new additions are welcome, as old sets are sometimes difficult to find. Thanks for the info

Dragon were discounting the old pontoon set (two pontoons, wooden portions & assault boat with 1 pioneer) around a year ago, presumably to clear old stocks ready for this. Although there's nothing really new in this set (apart from the Gen 2 gear), it's nice to see this sort of stuff available again. The Grosser Flossack would carry over a ton, & it's possible to find single examples carrying what looks like either a Pak 40 or perhaps Pak38. There's some good pictures in the After the Battle - Ruckmarsh title of extemporised rafts on the Seine during the German retreat made up of two rafts with timber placed across them & the motive power provided by a Sturmboot with mechanical oar. The raft could easily carry a vehicle. The sort of bridge shown in the picture would be pretty temporary (the boats would be needed for the next crossing!), more permanent ones were built over wooden pontoons, & this sort of equipment was issued to infantry divisions. Panzer divisions got the heavier "Bruckengerat K" which took up to 30 tons.

I couldn't help smiling when I read about the 'bonus string' - Obviously a very strong selling point . Useful to have so many walking figures in one box though. I have 2 of the old pontoon sets so won't be needing this one, but I'm sure it will prove useful to many. Al
