Alliance Model Works have just sent us details of two, new, 1/35th scale, enhancement sets for the Leclerc Series 2 & the Leopard 2A6 / 2A5
Both sets are Updates for the Tamiya kits and cover 'missed' details and also spraying stencils for some Bundeswehr markings (Leo). In the case of the Leclerc, new, thicker side skirts are included.

LW35056 - Leclerc Series 2 Detail Set (Tamiya)

This detail set is designed for the Tamiya kit 35279.

The Tamiya kit is for verion "series 2" of the vehicle, the parts included in this set are generic, and can be used on any version of leclerc in 1:35 scale.
This detail set includes 2 groups of etched parts, in different types of metal. One group is for detailing the hull and turret, meshes, buckles, joints etc. The other group consists of replacements for the high polymer sideskirts and their hanging apparatuses, so the skirts can be taken off. They are in fact taken off for railway transportation.

LW35057 Leopard 2A6 / 2A5 Detail Set (Tamiya)

This detail set is designed for Tamiya kit 35271 leopard 2A6. Also can be used for Tamiya leopard 2A5 (35242). Set includes parts to detail the hull and turret. They're throughly researched and carefully designed to ensure both accuracy and ease of construction. Also includes spraying stencils for some common Bundeswehr vehicle markings.

The Leclerc looks like it is a nice alternative (hence maybe cheaper ?) to the comprehensive Voyager set and a way better one to the poor Tamiya PE set. If I understand correctly the explanations given in the news report, the AM set enables the front skirts to be folded up. It is a very nice option indeed. Thanks for sharing Jim. Olivier
