Panzerwrecks for those (few) who are unaware of them are an extraordinary series of books which show the aftermath of vehicles in war. Now, the series has arrived at its twelth volume.
From the back cover:

"How did GIs turn a 12 tonner into a time bomb? Which hatch on a Jagdtiger is never noticed? What short lived feature appeared on factory Jagdpanthers? What unique items were added later in the field? What colour was the ‘Octopus Tiger’? Could a Panther take a round through the side and still move? The answers to these and other questions are to be found here in Panzerwrecks 12, with 134 rare and unpublished large format photographs sourced from around the world."

This is one of the keys to the commercial and critical success of this series. As the 'Net becomes more used in research, modelers tend to forget the work which is done by publishers such as Panzerwrecks in tracking down unpublished images of vehicles and equipment. Invaluable for Super-Detailers and Armor Modelrs alike, the new volume will be published in April 2011.

Great news! While I'm a big fan of this series and always look forward to their releases, this one is especially welcome knowing that the color photo of the octo Tiger II will be published finally!! I'm heading over to their site now to put in my pre-order!! Mike edit: oops, pre-order isn't up yet, oh well

Is there an index of what's in each one? I have one volume, and might buy more if I could identify their usefulness to the builds I'm contemplating.

Bill if you go to the Panzerwrecks site, then click on an individual book there is a list of what vehicles are included within the book. While this doesn't tell you exactly where each vehicle was photed, (or the condition it's in) it does give you an idea of what to expect. Mike
