Big Washtub

Introduction:

Plus Models have been busy with releasing diorama accessories; here again with the quality of packaging and products that we have come to expect from them.

The review:

This set includes parts to make 2 tubs. The wood cuts fairly easily to remove the parts, but care needs to be observed so as not to split into the pieces themselves. Since it is a balsa type wood, you can sand and cut to fit as needed. I used superglue to attach the pieces and it's done in 5 minutes. This is a rather fancy tub so may be useful as a liberated trophy on the rear of a tank I suppose, or in a home of a 'middle class' neighborhood.

A review of this tubs 'big brother' in 1/35th scale can be found Here.

Conclusion:

The fancy wooden bath tubs have limited use mainly to house interiors and I haven't seen too many modellers doing this sort of diorama.

SUMMARY
Highs: Quick and easy to build with good quality and detail. There are few 1/48 accessory items on the market currently so this is a more than welcome addition.
Lows: The tubs may be limited to city dioramas due to the fancy nature of its design vs. a round tub more commonly seen in the field.
Verdict: The tub will make for unique and interesting scenes.

About California Greg (GregCloseCombat)

My father was a model junkie of all scales, and he got me started when I was little (5 to 8 years old maybe?) doing some Monogram Snap-tite kits. Then at 8 years of age, I practiced the art of fireworks and BB gun marksmanship on those kits. When I was 25, he gave me his 1/48 unbuilt Bandai kits t...

There used to be a policy of not grouping reviews of figures or different items together. In future how is anyone to know what the review is of, with a title that just says Plus Models new 1/48 releases (1:48) ?

Very true Pat. This is still the policy and I think this should be broken into three reviews (even if small in text). Thanks, Jim

My apologies. My second review trial. I will be sure to make them separate in the future. Live and learn
