Hi all,
My entry will be a Fordson 7V truck as used by the Princess Irene Brigade, a Dutch unit that took part in the NW-Europe campaign in 1944-45. I found this (very cool) picture of the truck:
Source: Arnhems Oorlogsmuseum (War Museum Arnhem)
I found a small die-cast model for this project. Still in doubt whether I will upgrade this diecast model or use it to calculate and scratch in 1/35... I'll decide that once the mail man delivers the little truck
I also have this nemrod figure set in my stash for years now, if I have time I might do something with it for this campaign:

Hi! Some progress report after weeked:
1. Hull almost done (needs some sanding, and some equipment to be assembled. oh, and grills).
2. Suspension done (after a long battle...).
I have to repeat my previous statement - almost nothing fits... even parts that are supposed to be identical differ... I'm sorry to write it but I think that it's the worse kit I've ever had...
The bigger will be my pride when I finally finish it... (... if I finally finish it).
I'll post some pictures after finishing assembly.

I have started on my M997 Hummer ambulance for this campaign. Here are the shots of the kit and main parts. Construction has started so I will soon follow with some more pictures of my progress.
Seems to be a nice kit with some nice accessories.

hmmm well......
It looks like I'll have to withdraw my 251/8 from this campaign. Time is limited, so I know I'll never finish it in time and building is supposed to be fun..
Instead I will enter a German first aid post, captured by some British/Canadian troops.
Pictures and details will be posted shortly!!

Cheater... I thought you said you weren't building this, now we are building the same kit Not to worry, I'll utilize my Legend Productions set and convert this into an IDF ambulance. You mentioned something earlier about the wheels Jesper, is there a problem with them? Any need to acquire resin wheel sets?

well, like I sai before; no 251/8 from me, but a little dio with medics and wounded.
It is to represent a german first aidpost ( a Verwundetennest), close to the frontline. Unfortunately for the Germans on the wrong side of it! There's a group of British/Canadian troops passing by on their way to the frontline.
I used my sparesbox and some Dragonboxes (Fallen comrade & the medics) and a Tamiyaset (which shows) with said infantry.
Here's the general idea:
The standing knife in the back is where a tree is supposed to go, maybe more. I'm also thinking of adding a hedge at the back. The base will be grassy, with the exception of the marked area, which will be roadsurface.
The tent is probably Italeri and the figures are from the Fallen comradeset with a medic from the Medicset. The bandage was made from leadfoil.
The corps was made out of spares, but the chestpart is from the Medicset. The mourning german is basically from that set too, with new arms.
This one is from the sparesbox completely, with a metal head. ( I feel like Frankenstein... )
The left arm had the bottom of the sleeve removed and roughed up and a bandage of thin plastic card was maid. The stone is just a prop.

Ron, great work on the aid station. I too have abandoned the idea of the 251/8 for the same reasons you mentioned.

@Emre: Really??!! I am also making the IDF conversion! Just kidding
Emre, yes I changed my mind again. I was planning a German ambulance on a tracked or wheeled chassis, but ended up with the Hummer again. I still think the wheels look too small, but I am no Hummer expert, so I will just go along with the kit wheels. I think that the wheels might look too small due to an "optical illusion" because the body of the M997 is much bigger than a normal Hummer making the wheels seem too small.
I am underway already with this kit and will probably finish construction during the weekend, as the girlfriend is not at home.
Looking forward to see your IDF vehicle
Ron, great looking diorama. The layout of the scene is good. Looking forward to see more when the paint hits the scene

Here is the M997 in main parts ready for painting. It has been a more time consuming job than I expected, as construction looked easy and straight forward.
More to follow when the base coat is on.

To all MEDIC! participants the ribbon and award have been added to the profile! Happy building, and let's see some in progress pics!
I'm building Revell of Germany's Unimog but I''m building it up like this:
The cab will need some work, note the inside roof. The cab roof has the hatch in the wrong position.
The ambulance body will be detailed as well, although that may come later. Here is the side door.
I wasnt sure on the colour of the undercarriage, but another Girls day photo and:
Voila! German girls save the day! And finally the business end, this is where I'll need to construct the rear doors carefully in order to have them operative.
Thank goodness for Girl's Day! They gave me a TON of good pictures!

Hi guys,
Was going through my stash over the weekend and found a couple of old DML figures that I knew would be great for this campaign, They are the two walking guys from the German Medical Troops set, like Ron is using in his dio. I just fancied making a small vingette with them and so started construction.
They went together very well, although the wounded guy needed some re-shaping to his lower torso, but considering the interaction between the two they are very well done.
Below are some in-progress pics with the base coats on, unfortunately taken using my phone camera so they aren't great, but you get the idea!
I have left off the wounded soldier's right arm, to ease the painting of the head, and the same goes for the medics helmet.
Thanks,
James

I have now added the basecoat and assembled a little more of the M997. The fit between the ambulance top and the lower body of the hummer is not perfect, but can be twisted and pressed into line
Next is the camouflage painting - more to follow

I have now applied the camouflage to the M997. It is okay, although the brown is too light. I will try to make it darker by some washes and otherwise consider repainting it. Otherwise things are going ahead slowly but surely

Jon, don't worry - anything you're building can't be worse than my kit - ... I hoped that after this weekend I'd be able to show you it almost done but since last Wednesday I was the one screaming MEDIC ! .
Honestly: flu simply stopped the progress, I hope I'll be able to return to this one tomorrow (my hands are still shaking a little).
James, Jesper, it's nice to see that your work is moving forward and you don't have to think how to smuggle some paints to your bed and not to decorate all pillow with a Wehrmacht camo
I hope to post some pics soon.

Jon, the kit had some bad fits in places, but nothing that could not be solved with a little force. I am a little worried about the decals. I have heard a lot of bad things about Academy decals, so I have stayed away from them on my previous Academy aircraft kits. However, on this one I think I will try them out and judge for myself as I have not been able to find replacements.
Hope your kit does not fight you all the way and that you will make some progress.
Andrzej, hope you get better soon and that you will have made some progress although the flu is trying to keep you in bed.
Looking forward to see the pictures.

Thanks to you both. I'm building a Revell of Germany Unimog. It looks like it was cast from soap. The fit is awful and it does not want to align properly. I'll post some pics as soon as I get past the clamp-heat-bend-scream-throw it stage.
Andrzej , I hope you feel better soon, that flu is the worst!

Warning: long angry complaining start....
I tried applying the decals to my M997 - major disaster! The Academy decals are worse than their very bad reputation!
Repeating to myself: I will listen to other modellers advice, I will listen to other modellers advice, I will listen to other modellers advice, I will listen to other modellers advice, I will listen to other modellers advice, I will listen to other modellers advice.....
The decals were bigger than the side doors and top hatch that they were supposed to fit. Not much, but enough to be seen if not fixed.
Secondly the decals were very stiff yet brittle. Not the best combination in the world! They were impossible to soften up and get to settle on the model - getting them to fit around the hinges on the doors were impossible. I tried both Micro Sol and Hunbrol decal softener, but no result.
Just to top the whole thing of they are very shinny and needs to have more than one coat of mat varnish.
Basically, a very bad experience with the decals and not the way model building should be - not for me anyway, as it is a hobby and should be fun and rewarding in the end.
Long angry complaining stop.
Okay, on a positive note I still think I can get something good from this kit and will move on to weathering. The kit itself is okay when not taking the decals into account. I will update you all later and show some pictures when I finish it.
I am sure the build will be fun and a pleasure from now on

Hi Emre
Yes, I hope you get new decals. Otherwise find some other aftermarket solutions. Academy decals are not fit for any usage on any model.
I have read that they have started putting Cartograph decals in some of the new kits, but obviously not in my kit.
Looking forward to see your build progress.
