Thanks, Jesper!

Andrzej, yes, it could be... but I think perhaps for later on in '08 since there are a couple of other campaigns getting cranked up. Definitely something to think on.

Folks, this is looking like it will be great! I'm hearing some great ideas, and the forum discussion is definitely inspiring people! I sure know it's making me think about a couple of different things than I had originally envisioned.

The question now, for me, is how big a diorama will SWMBO let me get away with building?!

Greetings Everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that I have enrolled in my fist Armorama Campaign and it is this one. My current project that I stated about two weeks ago fits right in with this campaign.

My only concern is that I have already started construction with a late February, early March completion date (I hope). Let me know if this will be problem.

So far I have made one posting under the Constructive Feedback forum that you can check out if you have not seen it yet. Breaching the Line: M4A3E2 Jumbo Pt-1

This looks to be fun and wish everyone the best of luck.

Enjoy and Happy Modeling

Hi.
I'm new to this site but have been putting models together for a while. I would love to try this campaign out especially since I figured out how to work my camera and post pictures!
Please keep me informed.

Eric, Michael, welcome aboard, gentlemen!

Eric, I need to think on this a little bit. Allowing the one you have underway doesn't seem quite fair to those who are going to do their building from Feb-July, but I know exactly where you're coming from. And I did take a look at your post under Constructive Feedback... it looks promising and should make a beautiful vignette. If other campaign participants are okay with you entering this one, I will honestly say I have no problem. Again, welcome aboard!

I am okay with Eric joining with a project that is started, but ithe project should be hold back from now until the campaign starts in my opinion. There are many other campaigns to join until then.

Just my two cents.

My new book arrived today. I purchased the Osprey book "Germany's West Wall - The Siegfried Line". There are some good pictures in it.

One of then of them will be of particular interest to Mike. It shows a picture of a Panther turret. It states that they were mounted on concrete, steel and wooden shelters. It also states that a number of them were used towards the end of the war. So that should help with your plans for this campaign.

Just thought I would share.

HARV

PS. I think it would be fine if Eric joined this campaign. I was the one that suggested it to him in the first place. Just my thought.

Hi guys

I have been playing around with some pictures etc. for some banners. Here are the four best ones. If anybody has any pictures etc. that can be used for more banners let me know.

HARV -

Thanks for that info. I've got Osprey's "Siefried Line 1944-45; Battles on the German Frontier", but it didn't have anything like you found though I haven't read all of it yet. Looks like I've got another Osprey purchase coming. Then there's Osprey's "German Field Fortifications 1939-45". Santa, you taking notes?

Jesper -

Like the banners, maybe combine the first and second to use one of each picture (KT & Pillbox?). Emphasis would then be on both 'Battle of Bulge' & 'Siegfried Line'. This is really taking off. Outstanding work sir.

Thanks for the comments, Mike

I will try to work out an extra alternative or two.

Hello,

Nice banners! Small detail error on this one though:

The Flak 88 on the left is actually one of the four Flak 88's sited near Domburg on the island of Walcheren, the Netherlands. They were part of the Atlantikwall (Allied codename: battery W18) and were used as dual-purpose: anti-air and anti-sea.

So it has little to do with this campaign

Jesper, the banners look great! They'll be quite a shot in the arm for the campaign, I'm sure.

I'm planning to build with an M4A3E8, a PaK 43, and probably three to four figure sets. A scratchbuilt bunker and Dragon's Teeth. Yes, it will be a large diorama. Thank God for styrofoam insulation! This is, however, subject to change as inspiration (and maybe money... ) comes up.

Harv, do you happen to know if any hedgehogs were used on the Line? I haven't seen any in my research, but it would make sense if they were.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for not getting back to you all sooner. I have read over the other posts about how I should proceed with my project in conjunction with this campaign. I have no real problem with putting it on hold until the February start date. I feel this will cause the least amount of problems for everyone. I am really looking forward to being involved with this, my first campaign, and making it a positive experience for everyone. Of course I have another project on deck and will look it over and see if it is ready to start.

Quick question, what is the idea/purpose of the banners and how are they added to my postings?

Thanks
Enjoy and Happy Modeling

Hi Eric,

From my point of view the idea of campaing banner is to show on the forum that you're part of some campaing (it maybe cause more interest and make more people join) and even more - that you are PROUD to be part of the campaign
If you want to add a banner to your posting all you have to do is:
1. go to "my account"
2. go to "your settings"
3. paste URL of banner you want to have next to your signature into a "URL for Signature Image:" field
4. save changes
5. be proud of campaign you've just joined

Campaings are great - I've already enlisted for about four of them - one is on going - rest is planned for next year.

Take care and don't hesitate to ask if you need anything alse.

Andrzej

I wasn't really looking for them when I was doing my research. I will go back and check and see what I can find out.

Looks like I've got another Osprey purchase coming.

Mike,
If you get the book there is an excellent picture of a Panther bunker on page 29. It states that it is now on display at the Westwall Museum in Niedersimten.

Here is a link I just found with a color picture of it.

Lewis,
There is a good picture of a long row of hedgehogs in the Osprey book "Germany's West Wall - The Siegfried Line" where I found the information for Mike. It appears to have several strands of barbed wire run through out them as well. It states the picture is from April 1940.

Hope that helps each of you out.

Here is a link to the Westwall Museum.

Thanks for the cool banners Jesper. Now to decide which one I like the best.

Eric, I had a feeling that would be how things worked! And you're obviously like almost all other modellers... "if I can't do this one yet, I'll do that one!" I know I'm thinking to save a Russian tank destroyer for a campaign I see in the works.

Harv, thanks, man! That gives me even more ideas.... Oops.

(I think my diorama is getting bigger... I'm gonna have to make real nice to SWMBO! )

Thanks, HARV. I appreciate it

Mike, while researching for a Panther Coelian for another campaign coming up in January I found some scale plans of a Panther turret fortification - complete with a stow pipe and everything. Let me know if you are interested. Then I can post some pictures of it.

HARV - Thanks for the links! They'll be very helpful. I'm now thinking of doing the diorama of a Pantherturmspellung supported by a machine gun bunker. Might show a unit of GIs using a bazooka to blast open the back door. Anyway, all kinds of ideas and plenty of time to load up references and supplies for the Campaign build. Thanks again for the help.

Jesper - Thanks also Dude. Would appreciate anything I can get. If you want, send as a PM or I can get you my e-mail unless there are others who want it posted. Really great to get all the support.

Speaking of support, if anyone is looking for figures, items, etc. that you might need or can't find, just let me know and I'll see what my large 'Stash' has available. I'd be glad to help out/donate to the 'Campaign'. Enjoy the Holidays,

Mike

I think I have some detailled Panther turm drawings back home (digital). Will see if I can post them here for those interested.

I still have a Panther turret somewhere as well (Old Italeri kit). Maybe I can do something with this too....

Jesper -

Thanks for that, will really be helpful. I love the 'stovepipe' on there. I've got the "MIG Productions" set that I'll probably use as the basis for 'Pantherturmspellung'. Plenty of the bits, pieces, and figures in 'Stash'. As before if anyone needs or is looking for something, just ask.

Here's an update, gentlemen... you can now see what our "Dragon's Tooth Ribbon" looks like on our campaign sign up page.

Aside from that, I'm assembling materials to do my dio.... models are ordered, raw materials are on-hand or soon-to-be... Now I just have to wait until Feb!

Hi Martin

Sorry, I did not answer earlier. Only saw this now. I know not all the pictures are 100% correct. I was more going for pictures that illustrated the idea of the campaign with fortifications and emplacements. But as you point out - to be 100% correct I should have researched more to find correct pictures. If you have any let me know by PM or post them in this tread.

Thanks for the feedback
