Well, put me down for two dios (but only one ribbon)!
The oldest member of the younger part of the family is also getting in. He's planning something with his Italeri jeep and Tam German Field Kitchen. He's even getting in his first "smart alek" bit in with a "Your first meal in Germany! Complements of the Krauts" sign.
He's busy watching "World at War" DVD's for more ideas.

Now, Marc, that sounds really interesting... I'm looking forwards to seeing it! And way to go on getting the younger generation involved... that's just a benefit for everybody involved.

Hi guys
I am not into the US uniforms in detail, so I have a question: Could I use this set of GIs for a spring diorama next to my tank turret bunkers?
I know they stopped using these camouflage uniforms shortly after the Normandy battles, but could I just use the same figures with overall green uniforms?
Any advise/help on this is appreciated

Jesper, at a glance, I would say that those fatigues are cut basically the same as the M41 and M43 fatigues. So I, too, would go with it and just paint 'em green, guy!

That was my idea as well, Lewis.
I will put them on the "Stalin line" diorama base with french tank turrets and perhaps a destroyed/abandoned Ostwind or Wespe in the foreground.
Thanks for the feedback

I will make two different dioramas. I do not know if I will make both for this campaign, but I think I will.
How is the Mirage bunker? I was thinking of buying that one for my stash. Is it injection or vacformed? Good details? Maybe I/we could see some pictures
Hi Jesper, the Mirage bunker is injection formed and the quality isn't bad.
The typical pillbox 'wood-panel' texture of the concrete is well represented on most surfaces and there are even bullet scars for the battle weary look.
The fit is an issue if I remember correctly, I put the thing together years ago when I built it but then didnt go any further, looking at it now i'm going to have to do some dismantling and put a little bit of TLC in to get it looking 100%, but it'll build up nicely out of the box.
The major issue, and the reason mine never got built, is the shape of it. the bunker entrance is just around the corner from the MG embrassure which to me isn't sensible bunker design. It could really do with being sunk into the ground of a dio and having a trench system added, although this won't be possible using the Lina Stalina base so i'm going to have to get creative, to make it a bit more realistic. I'll try and get some photo's up when I get a chance, but will try and document my build as best as possible so you can see how I go about it all then.
Incidentally, I have started to read Neil Shorts book on tank turret fortifications and would fully recommend it to anyone proposing to use them in this campaign. With the help of the book i'm going to try and modify my turrets to represent some of the more unusal used on the westwall. More on this when I get started!
Cheers,
James

Hi all,
I just recently got back into the hobby after several years absense. I build for fun and find it quite relaxing. I just enlisted into the Siegfried Line Campaign and am looking forward to the challenge. My main interests are mostly WWII armor and vehicles. I'm not very familiar with these campaigns soooooooooooooooo, I have a question, is this the forum where I'll post my progress and photos during the campaign ? Thanks,

You can post here or start your own thread, depending on the amount of posts and pictures you intend to post. If you are going to update us frequently it may be worth starting a personal thread and put the odd post here with a link, informing us of your progress. Otherwise if you'll be far less regular you can post in the campaign thread as and when you have some progress to report.
Cheers,
James

Hi guys
Looking forward to get this campaign going.
I assume we should move updates on our builds and any campaign discussion to the official "Borders of the fatherland" tread, right?
Still waiting for my 88mm from Jadar Hobby, but it is no hurry as I have another diorama to work on as well.

Jesper, you're absolutely right! For those of you who haven't seen it, yet, here's the link.
