Thanks Scotty !
If you haven't seen it here is a schematic of the Camo I will be using (this one is on an AS1 though):
http://www.armouredacorn.com/Refs-%20Thumbprints%20&%20Images/Camouflage%20Patterns/Austrailian/Leo%20AS1-3-tone%20(updated).pdf
It is pretty cool
It'll have white chevrons on the skirts and the mouse house decal set too
Cheers

Sounds good.
I'll have a crack at it when you post some progress shots. I think it's important to have the 'cuts' lined up in a row and have the 'semi circles' overlapping the ones below slightly. Just like in Ingvar Sylegård blog on plasticwarfare.se.
Looking forward to your progress Scotty !
I'm also thinking about other 'What if ?" projects, that'll be good for the "What if ?" Campaign.
Maybe an Aussie M1A2 Tusk with a few curly extras ? or another Leopard 2A5 with some cool additions. We'll see.
Cheers

I will try and get some pics up when i get some done. Having leo what if ideas as well was thinking a Brit leo based in the UK or germany with NATO green and black apposed to desert cam maybe with cudda? and a norwegian A5/A6 with the splinter cam that would look cool?

I've run out of Olive Drab for the Green Mix so that's it for now Maybe I'll be able to get some tomorrow, otherwise it'll be a while before I can do any more.
Poor planning on my part !!
A couple of progress pic's. however........
The photo's are overexposed, but the colors seem to be pretty close to the real thing
Cheers

Lars
That's only a fraction of it Lars.
The green for the hull is finished, Nato Black needs to be done (in all areas) next after the green is done on the turret.
I don't have anymore olive drab for the green on the turret, hopefully I can get some today when I go to town The turret still needs the green and also the Nato black,
Cheers

Thanks Chris, your Leopard 2 looks nice. You should try a Nato Camo scheme on your next one.
I used Blu-Tack to mask off the colors in my Leopard 2A5 for the Big Cats Campaign, and I'm doing it for this one too. It's a bit of work but the end result is worth it
After I'm done there will be a tiny bit of touching up to do also I think.
BTW: It turns our my LHS is out of XF62 for my Green mix, so I've had to order it in by mail. Hopefully I get it on Thursday
Cheers

Ok the Olive drab XF-62 arrived in the mail this morning
I've managed to finish off the green on the turret and apply the Nato black to both the hull and turret
Tomorrow I'll use a small brush to fix a little overspray and some small gaps between colors in a couple of areas. Then I'll leave the beast for a couple of days, and check out the 'camo' when I come back to it, ( to make sure I'm happy before sealing, painting chevrons, and applying the decals ).
I still need to paint some of the smaller parts I've taken off to prevent damage:
Loaders Mag 58
Commanders 50 Cal
Commanders Cupola
Commanders front vision block
Commanders Periscope
Hatches
Smoke grenade launchers
AND
that pesky Dozer blade
Here's a of pic to let you know what Aussie Camo looks like (It'll come up well after weathering I think - plenty of 'pucka' and 'bundy' dust ) :
Cheers

The Hull is clearcoated and I've painted the White Chevrons with stencils made of Tamiya masking tape.
I'll add decals to the Hull and touch up some of the camo on the Turret in the next few days.
Pics a bit later when the beast is ready for weathering
Cheers

A bit of an update:
Camo and decals done, the next step is weathering - a wash and mig pigments I think...
I also still need to add quite a few of the details including:
Commanders 50 cal.
Loaders MAG58
Commanders Peri
Gunner sight doors
Spare tracks
Stowage
Dozer blade etc
Commander (A Mouse House ASLAV crew figure I think )
A Camo net for the Barrel ?
Some progress pics.
Cheers

Thanks Matt,
This has been a lot of fun, but the key now is going to be getting the wash and pigments right .....
I think I'll need to add a bit of red to the dust I use to get the right look.
I have an Aussie Abrams on the drawing board too, but I'm not sure on whether to go with the orginal tan, or the new 'Aus Cam' finish.. I'll need to see more pics of the new color scheme first I think.
The Leopard 2A6 definately looks great in the 3 color Aussie Camo finish It actually looks better on the bench than the photos posted above which are a little poor (sorry).
Cheers

A bit of an update...
Wash done, and the first bit of dusting finished.
I gave the lower hull a coating of Mig Pigments (mainly side skirts), but still need to do more on the fenders and add a touch more 'red' to the wheels and tracks.
I may give the upper hull and turret a spray also.. I need to think about that.
The Turret still needs the two MG's and the peri, as well as the doors for the gunners sight.
BTW: one of the LHS smoke grade launchers broke away - I need to stick that back on.
The dozer blade will be fun when I get around to it
Cheers

Hi Bill !
I used European Dust and Vietnam Earth which I mixed together for the Hull.
Early on only I used European dust for the road wheels etc, but I've now decided they need more red, so I'll used the same mix on them and redo them.
I need to play around with the dust on the skirts, it looks a little dodgy right now. Q-tips and some turps will do the trick !
Now I need to get ouside and paint the gates !

Another pic.
More work on the weathering to be done......
I originally was going to make this beast quite clean, but after seeing the dust on the Aussie AS1's in Northern Australia in Michael Cecil's "Battlefield Leopard", I though I'd give it a "real dusting".
Cheers

Paul,
Your Leopard is really nicely coming together in the finishing....it is very realistic and all the parts blended together very well. The camouflage looks super on the Leopard.

Thanks Jason,
I'm honing my skills on this one after a long break from modelling
It looks better in the sunlight then the pics I've posted so far --- so hopefully I'll get my photography up to speed
The 50 cal, MAG58, Peri, etc will be on next week I think.
I'll add a commander based on one of Jason Miller's ASLAV crew (I may use a decal for the uniforms' Camo pattern - I have the Mouse House sheet).
I'd really love to do another Aussie Leo now that I've got the Camo and weathering experience.
The other machine that ended up being in the running with the Abrams at the end of the tender process, was the Swiss Panzer 87. I'd like to mod the HobbyBoss 2A4 to do that beast but I'm not sure what needs to be done Any tips ??
Perhaps the international Tankograd Leo book will have some references on the '87' when it arrives in the next week
Cheers
