Hello everyone,
The goal for this week is is to finish "Eva" completly and start on a few figures. I want to thank everyone for all the help. I wouldn't have been able to get anywhere without anyone's help.

I trying to go for a relaxing crew inbetween firing.

yes, but surely the guy shouting doesn't make sense then? the figures looking over the side would work well if they were looking at men on the ground, but that means buying figures to suit this.

Well, it's going to be in a diorama with an AA gun and there is one other guy I built up but have to strip the paint off of that's going to be throwing up and the guy leaning over is going to be looking at him. They guy shouting doesn't excactly have a position or purpose yet but I'll try to find one.

Thanks for the comment as this has made me think...

I am facing an emergency! While trying to mask a "Eva" decal, it came off and is gone with no repair. It is now missing off the right side of the morter. If anyone has an "Eva" decal I would very much appriciate it!

Hello Richard,

I have just finished my Karl one month ago and I had the same problem than you,
one of my Thor decal was destroyed when I tried to put it on the left side.

I am really upset against Trumpetter, their decals are too fragile and sensitive, unlike Tamiya.

But what do you think, if we exchange decals ? I can send you my two Eva decals in exchange for your Thor decals, in this case we will have one extra decal available in safety just in case that we mess up one more time.

I live in japan, but that's not going to be expensive to send a letter

As much as I'd like to help you, someone over at missing-lynx just two days ago needed some decals so I gave him the rest of my decal sheet and mailed it off yesterday because he needed it. If only I had realized this was going to happen

I hate when things like that happen. I just really wish my screwup would have happened in the morning than the afternoon. I really wish I could help.

Richard

Edit: I can get you black Ziu decals, but I don't know if you'd want them.

my advice would be to make a mask. this shouldn't be too hard for 3 letters, just cut each letter out of masking tape and then paint over. you need to do both sides the same, but if it works well it will look better. decal edges tend to show up when you weather over them.

No, what happened was I spilled a little paint and while taping it over and painted over it. When I removed the tape, the letters came off with it as a bunch of little slivers.

Thanks for the advice though, I should have thought through it first

It's time for an update, but unfortanetly no pics. I've painted a figure and I found a kubelwagon that can go with my dio. I've added rust effects to the mufflers and I'll try to get finished pics up soon.

This is what I am thinking though:
1. Considering this log focused on the Karl only, I think I may include the crew and other related items on another log focusing on the diorama.

2. I can give an in-depth sort of review following the instructions and what I had issues with and so on.

3. Give my final thoughts about the kit and what new skills I've learned.

I need thoughts and opinions about what to do next. I'm kinda stuck...
Richard

BTW: If you want to see my kubel, it is on the constructive board. Any help to it would be appriciated.

Again, thanks for the sites! I'll try my best to do a good diorama wihtin my abilities. As for Eva, I'm trying to locate a single name decal because I'm not good at making masks, but I might have the possibility of renaming "Eva" into "Adam". I won't go into what that might mean

So until I can find those decals, I can't technically call it finished. Hopefully within the week I can reach a resolution.

Richard

BTW: Any help for my Kubelwagon?

It's only a couple posts down. It's going to be in the dio somewhere, just not sure where yet.

Here's a pic of the figure I painted. It's not good but I'm proud of it. It's only my first figure but most of his features won't be seen because he'll be starin into the barrel.

Any help for him or advice on painting figs would be helpful. I followed the figure painting tutorial on this site and it was easy to follow.

not at all bad for a first attempt. you should fill in those little white marks. i'd also darken the skin tone a bit, he looks like he just saw a ghost down the barrel! once you've done that, get a tone of grey a bit lighter than that and dry brush it. not too heavily, just enough to give some variation in the uniform. my personal preference is to use a sand colour with grey and dry brush this too. these figures are done like that, but an artillery crew would probably be a lot cleaner than them, so use less sand colour.

a dark wash will also help a great deal to improve the depth of colour. if you don't know how to do either of these techniques just tell me and i'll find you some nice links.

Thanks Pyro, I'll try my best to follow your advice. I know how to do most of the stuff, it's only putting it in practice

So do you think I should include all the figures with this log or make a diorama construction log with the all the figures?

Eva has officially been changed to Adam. I have to wait for a bright sunny day to take some good pictures. I'm pretty much calling him done. I don't know whether I should make a seperate log for the diorama? Any ideas for that?

I'll have the pics of "Adam" soon in all his mighty glory
