Rick, are you talking about his Rusty and Dusty Panther? That one's on my list "top 10 most impressive models I've ever seen list".

Bob, when you click the "Photos" button under Rob's Callsign here on Armorama, six Panther thumbnails appear. I cannot enlarge. I wonder whether they are featured in an article elsewhere on Armorama.

Hey fellas, thanks a bunch for the comments on that old build.
Rick I am not sure which panther you guys are talking about. I've built a few Panthers but I think the one you are after is the one with an open motor comp...right! This was never featured here. I had that one on my old website. It was also featured in the Jan. 2011 Military in Scale mag. I think I lost all the pics of that model to a virus back in 2011 but will check and see if I still have any images of it.
But here are some post I have on ML on that model if this helps.

Rick --- okay, I see the one you're talking about. That's a nice Panther, but it's not the same one I mentioned. That one was an old, semi-stripped derelict that Rob had scratch built the engine compartment on. The detailing was phenomenal, right down to the tiny moss patches growing on the engine block. It was the first model I'd ever seen where the close ups of the weathering could have been passed off for the real thing.

Rob -- sorry to hear about the virus. That must have been upsetting to lose all those early pics (along with the other things you had on the system). I was wondering what happened to all the goodies that were on your old site, including the build log for the Panther I was referring to. It turns out Rick and I were talking about two different tanks.

The ML link you posted only goes to a sign up page.

Bob you meant this one eh. The one on this forum is older and an intact Panther as far as I remember. yep it sucked losing the pics but no big deal. It was the images of other models and articles I was working on that really hurt.
As for the old site pics. I am slowly adding those to the gallery.

I downloaded these from Ml and will grab more from there. Will add these to my site at some point soon. Glad you guys mentioned this one, I had forgotten about it.

That's the one, Rob. Thanks for taking the time to pull up the pictures.

"Glad you guys mentioned this one, I had forgotten about it." I don't know about anyone else on the site, but if I ever come close to putting something together rivaling that build, I'll enshrine it in my living room!
Of course, I could say that about most everything I've seen you do, but that one strikes an especially deep chord in me.

LOL thanks for the kind words Bob. I had thought of keeping that one, but then I also thought about keeping the JT too. I don't have room for built models, and get tired of looking at them, so they go to ebay to find a good home for them. Each model I build is basically a test bed to improve and try new techniques, s each one gets better....I hope anyway.
I think you'll really like the next Panther I'm doing. I think I posted pics on my thread ' scratchmod factory' on MSC.

Wish I had been lucky enough to see it when it was listed. That's one I would have tried to buy.

I'll check your MSC thread for the other one.

Thank-you for sharing this truly fantastible Panther, Rob. Thank-you for good guidance, Bob. I am just as intrigued with the five examples appearing on page one of this thread. The Panzer IV here takes me back to the mid-70's when I attempted a similar subject after seeing Shepard Paine's rendition in the Diorama tips which were issued with the Monogram Grant kit. Rob's work carries well past that old thresh-hold. Your work and comments carry the mark of a universal and generative mind:

"Each model I build is basically a test bed to improve and try new techniques, s each one gets better....I hope anyway."

I myself, am basically a figure modeler, and usually thirst for the presence of a figure to fully complete a model. In your case, Rob, each derelict has all the character and then some, that one would ever hope to take from a figure. It is pleasing to now feel replete with each derelict alone.

Of course, the diorama still grounds the atmosphere...an essential premise.
