HI all,

Nick I emailed you but it bounced for some reason - so here are the shots I sent:

And this is what im waiting for Real Model to release before I start mine, the belly armour:

All these vehicles have the larger exhaust box thingy, fire suppression kit, drivers hood, blast shields for the air guard hatches, drivers belly armour kit, hull belly armour, elasticated 'snatch strap' tow cable, stowed A Frame and Duke/Warlock anti IED gear. Very interesting vehicles!!!

The Fire suppression kit and driver's protection kit are available from Real Model, the drivers' hood from Trumpeter, the air guard blast shields from Eduard. The Duke/Warlock set is available from Blast I believe, and the A Frame you can get in the AFV Club Stryker update set.

Hope all this helps,

SD

Thanks Sam for all that info and pics..Looks easy enough a build. Now I can put my Trumpy kits to good use. I'm also waiting Milo's Stryker uparmor packages, going to be interesting for sure.
Please update us with your work.

There's nothing that makes any of the pencils specific to modern armour, but if you can find a sketching set ranging from HB (hard lead) to 8B (very soft) that should cover all your needs.

Something like there 12 pencil drawing set would be a good buy, as it also comes with a set of pastels, and graphite sticks.

HTH

EDIT: sorry this is for your humvee thread. oops

Sean pm sent! THANKS!

Anirudh
I'll look for that sort of set...However...Duuuhhhh.....the HB to 8B are just pencils or 12 colored range?
Sorry, been working 12 hours a day through the past week and me brain is a bit fuzzy..

They are only pencils for sketching, and may include a few white or black colour pencils, but no further colours. The pastels are a variety of shades (ochre, umber, black, white, grey etc)

Amazing work, Nick!! Wish I had the patience to tackle one of these...

Regarding this:

Any particular brands for the weak acid you can recommend?

Try using lacquer thinner. It easily removes any leftover flux in seconds and actually cleans the metal pieces perfectly, The real plus of using lacquer thinner though is that no matter how long you leave the PE in, it doesn't damage it. I've left PE parts overnight after having soldered them without any issues.

Thanks for clearing that up Anirudh...I'll be getting those pencils and try them on my Abrams.

Rob, I'll put your info to good use on my next batch of Strykers...

Cheers

I've been lurking this site for a while and just now signed up.

I wanted to drop you a small note to say ..
“I really appreciate your post…It’s motivated me to get back into model building. “
I haven’t built a model since 1973, but I have set my sights on a M1128 and I’m wanting to add on Slat and the mine plow from AFV M1132. I think this attempt will keep me busy for a while….

Again…thank you for you post, I found it inspiring.

Any pics of a M1128 with mine plow? I thought they were only fitted to the 1132?

NO, I have found no images of M1128 with any mine roller/plow/blade.
The weight alone would make this kind of idea prohibitive. ( but I did find a M1134 w/ rollers)
I just wanted to make the hardest PE (slat) w/ the biggest gun (Centauro is sexier)and w/ the most complicated pieces(plow). ,,, then - after much lurking...... I saw:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/166089&ord=&page=1
and;
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/107003&ord=&page=1
....Suddenly I realized, i might want to make something cool (after a 35 year hiatus) but there are those who never took a break......hahahaha

some amazing work here on this site....Thank You All for your dedication!
