Dazza, that's one different looking Tiger. I'm not much of a Tigerfan, but I like the looks of this kitten. The shadevariantions make it an interesting model to look at!
Scott, nico dio! The finishing touches make this one look like one scene indeed. There's just one point of criticism from me and that is the look of the ground. It looks too much like it has been smeared on. Your dio would benefit from a much more natural looking underground.
Other than that, great build!

I have started painting details, tools, tracks, and other items in order to get ready for a future coat then the oil dots and wash. I became stuck on choosing my normal color that I use on the wooden handles on tools. I just found out that I do not know the proper color/wood that was used on WWII German AFV's. Here is a picture of where I am at what do you think?

My "mighty 88" was done already, but now I finally managed to get the complete dio done, too!
I have given it the title "Falsche tarnung, Herr Leutnant!" (wrong camouflage, Lt!)

Being my first multi-vehicle dio, it was kind of hard to keep focussed and I did loose interest in it in the end. I guess I'm more of a small dio/vignette kind of builder.
I added the last figures, bits and pieces, so it looks like this now;
The front;

the back;

from the top;

The focal point;

And some of the accessoires in the front;

The paintcans are complete made up...

Ron - I like the story line and combination of vehicles. The title brings more depth to it. Well done.

Hi all
This is my entry for this campaign. Could someone please be so kind and put these pictures in to the officel campaign gallery. I have no idea how this is done. I've tried it and it didn't go so well.

Thanks guys, I am still new at it all, so its gonna take a while to get good

Love the Dio Scott, the build looks fantasic and the grass/trees really add to the whole picture. Every time I have tried to add them to something of mine, they look totally out of place.

Great work on your dio Ron. The sceen really tells a story with the paint spilling every where and the officer on the ground. Something extra like that always makes a build stand out.

The weathering on your Pak gun looks fantasitc Jacob. I love the way you have chipped the paint. Need to learn how to do that, it adds so much to the realism of a build.

DazzaD,

As I had mentioned before I do like your Tiger I. Obviously spent a lot of time both inside and outside of your build and you should be proud. I know, it's just me but I would still like to see some of the same color applied to the recessed parts of the outer track links to tie the tracks to the rest of the model.

Scott,

Yes! I agree that the pastels do make a differance. Nice job!

Robert,

I like the red oxide primer showing through the Panzer gray base coat! It looks very realistic too. The color of the wooden handle on the right side of the photo looks correct for the base coat but you'll need to go over it with a wash of thinned down dark brown enamel or burnt umber oil paint leaving light streaks of the paint to simulate the wood grain. I'm assuming the paint on the handle is acrylic?

Ron,

That is awesome story telling! LOL I had a bad day at work today and seeing your dio put a big grin back on my face again. Thanks for reminding me just how much fun modeling can be! Glad you stuck to finishing this one. I had intented to thank you for your commenting on my build but I was tired and forgot to do so, sorry about that! Anyhow it is very much appriciated. Thanks Ron.

Jacob,

That sure is one killer looking anti-tank gun. Really nice build.

Dear all,

Some serious models coming out of this one! Mine are both in the paint shop (the JP in three-colour, and the Tiger mainly in undercoat...) but as "proof of life" I thought I'd post "just before painting" shots for your entertainment. I love the challenge of Italeri...

The JP:

The Tiger:

and:

Two weeks to get'em both presentable... (gulp!)

Thanks Eddy: I finished my build but the camera needs more batteries before I can post the photo's.

@ Ron: Great dio, I can only imagine the words comming out of the officer's mouth under the spilled paint.

@ DazzaD: Nice Tiger, pretty little kitty.

@ Jacob: Great weathering and chipping.

@ Tom: You can get them both ready in time.

@ Scott: It still looks good and thanks for the information on the photo cube.

I made a last minute decision last weekend to build a Flak 36 and have dropped everything to do so. I intend for it to be a fairly quick build and so have decided to enlist in the campaign regardless of the impending deadline.

Must say i'm impressed with some of the work already posted here.

I will be building Tamiya's old Flak 36 into a small vingette of a permanent flak emplacement later in the war with a single figure.

Having built the kit as a kid it will be fun to see how much better a job I should be able to do these days! It arrived yesterday and already I have got a fair bit done (i'll try and get some photo's in the next day or two).
One pleasant surprise is that a couple of parts have been updated on the older kit (35017) presumably due to the recent North Africa (35283) release that reboxed some of the older spruces. I am actually following the newer set of instructions as found on the internet as they help to build a more accurate Flak 36 (the original kit allows a 36 or 37 to be modelled).

Will have more progress soon.

Cheers,

James

The whole point about a campaign is for everyone to build at the same time. You finished this model 2 years ago.

I must stand with Gary's ruling, the model will not be entered in this campaign. Sorry.

Hi all,

Some fantastic looking models coming out on here guys, looking great.

Hi Eddy, cheers for the info on the tank, I need all the help I can get! Where on the tracks do you mean? More dark metal on the outside edges or the lighter metal on the track grips where the metal has been worn down?

DazzaD,

The way that you weathered the tracks hanging on both sides of the turret and on the front glacies plate looks outstanding and realistic as they do appear naturally oxidized. If you could somehow run a light wash of the oxidized colors that you used on the links hanging on the tank into the inner recesses of the outer portions of the track links (the side of the links that come in contact with the ground) that would help tie in the track runs to the rest of the vehicle. These links would not be as heavily oxidized as the track links hanging on the tank, as you already know, these links are almost always coming in contact with rocks, pebbles, dirt, sand and many abrasive elements keeping them from oxidizing nearly as much.

Ok I am finished with my entry for the Mighty 88 campaign. Italeri's VK4501, from the photos that I have seen the tank was just grey and very little weathering so mine is boring. I did have fun during the build, my 4 year old neice helped by keeping me company, she thought that I was lonely and needed the help by the gutteral noises coming from the work bench area .

Ok tear it up, but I do need a real camera this Kodak is so basic as to take a pic maybe. If anyone has suggestions on an inexpensive camera that takes decent pictures I am all ears.

Dear all,

I've finally finished the Italeri Jagdpanther! Here's the proof...

Now to get the Tiger finished, so I can free up the paint booth. Then, it's on to another stack of campaign models!

Robert,

Thanks! I was aiming for a "recently issued circa late '44, not enough time to get destroyed yet" look...

(I put all four in the Campaign gallery, but for some reason they also pop up in my Members gallery, so I hope there's nothing funny going on. The whole images thing on this website really throws me...)
