Looks good, Ron. It looks very clean, but it should since it is being repainted.
Looking forward to see the finished diorama.

Hi Jesper,
Thanks for the compliments!
I know the vehicle looks clean, allthough I did ad quite some weathering to the running gear and surrounding areas! It just does show on the pics I took.
When completing the dio, I will add more in order to blend the vehicles and base together.

Greetings fellow '88 campaigners. Some pretty nice builds going on here. I finally got a chance to get back to my Tiger I. There's perhaps only about twenty parts left to install but I decided to give it a rough coat of desert yellow (sort of a primer) and look for and correct any flaws. The major pieces are just dry fitted for the pictures.
from the back I obviously need a bit more work on the storage bin.
Left side.
Right side.
The business end.
The rear idler is still presenting problems for me. In hindsight I should have trimmed the inner wheels width down before I glued it down, I might even have to remove some of the tracks guide horns to get it to sit properly.
Cheers,
Jan

A small update on my king tiger.
I've finished the weathering with the exeption of the pigments. Here are some close ups of the turret and rear upperhull

Hey, all,
Having just posted a Leopard to satisfy the Bundeswehr campaign I can now turn to this one without pangs of guilt! (The other three BW kits in prep will have to wait a few more weeks - what's a workbench if it has less than a dozen incomplete models on it?)
Anyway, I've seen a lot of excellent KTs here, so instead of doing my KT I thought I might do a Jagtpanther or the Italeri late Tiger with moulded zimm - any preferences?
Tom

Tom, IMHO you should do the Jagdpanther as I don't recall anyone starting one for this campaign. Then again, there's not too many of us building a tiger I either.
Cheers,
Jan

Jan, I thought so too! I'll start with the Jagdpanther and see if I can fit the Tiger in too. (I have a wheeled thing to do by January and a wrecked Panther, so it all depends on how productive Sep/Oct is...)

Hello All,
I have got my JagdPanther Late 1/48 scale with its first coat of paint. I did a dark green, So next will be the coarse salt coat, Then a white wash. I am doing it for a winter coat circa 1944-45.
I should have some photo's up by this weekend.
Cheers,
Bruce

Very nice work Martin, something to be proud of.
An update on my Tiger I sorry I just don't have time for the in wip shots, but I have reached the point where all I have to do is add the spare tracks, and complete the weathering, and then I am going to add 5 Tristar figures,so if all goes well, maybe I will post it in a couple of weeks.
thanks......really enjoying everybody's work so far

Looks nice, but is totally unrealistic. Blackened barrels didn't happen with German gear.

Hey, all,
Started my Italeri JP yesterday, and will post WIP shots as soon as I can. Found two crew figures from the piles of figure sets I accumulate whenever I hit a shop, so the hatches will be open despite the lack of interior. The build is strictly OOB, with only a few scratched details to keep it reasonable. I am still deciding on a paint scheme, but from the kit details I am looking at a Dec 44 setting - anyone know what colour JP crew uniforms should be? Panzer black is likely, but I wondered if field grey or the SS-style camo might be appropriate?
Tom
PS: Yes, sadly blackened muzzles are just a modelling fantasy. However, there are many b/w shots of German tanks with dark muzzle brakes. I have heard it is because the tanks get repainted/camo'ed/whitewashed with the muzzle dust cover in place, preserving old colours on the muzzle. I also hear that field-replacement muzzle brakes and even whole gun tubes were used in their factory-grey primer until the next time the tank received new paint...

Tom, I'm far from an expert on uniforms but all my references including Panzer Colors (Squadron.Signal Publications) primarily show the black uniforms for tanks and "enclosed" assault guns. There is one picture of an STG III in 1943 Italy with the commander in all black and the other crewman in field grey. Almost all of the "open" (Marders and the like) JP show field grey and the odd camo tunic being worn.

Tread-geek,
Thanks! I knew a lot of Stug crews changed to field grey mid-war, but wasn't sure if the JP crews followed the trend. Some pics look like they wear black, but could be just poor contrast, while others look like maybe grey. The one thing I haven't seen yet is camo, but then I have seen only a few good shots with crew in them. (WAs the camo wide-spread, or just an SS thing?)
Then again, I suppose the units using them would decide the colours, so it could be that both black & grey are right, depending on the owner...
I'll mull it over while building!
Tom

Hi All!
here is the first of three campaign builds for today! The others are in NATO 60th and Cold War. This is the ANCIENT Tamiya/MPC Tiger from the early 1970's. The wheels etc were moulded from a weird, soft plastic, and the tracks are so crud I laughed at them. But I got the kit for next to nothing about 10 years ago and I thought I may as well get the old girl built. It is missing the smoke grenade launchers as they had disappeared from the box, and there is no way I was going to spend extra money on this old warhorse when I have two bang up to date Dragon Tiger Is to build..
It is hard to tell but I did give the old girl a few washes to bring out the (very little) detail..
So there she is in all her ancient glory..

Fantasic builds so far, Mirco, JP, Jesper, Martin, Ron, Jan, and that 88 Sherman great job. I have 3 weeks rest from school so I would like to enter an Italeri 1/35 Tiger/Ferdinand (Porsche Version VK-4501) at least that is what is printed on the box. This will be my first German tank , I have no references for the scheme. Would anyone be willing to share some information?

Welcome aboard, Robert. Haven't seen you in any campaigns here since the great Sherman campaign. Anyway, from my limited knowledge is that the VK4501's were prototypes and eventually ended up as the Elephant. There are references to them and pictures in Google Books. There is also this colour plate at ww2drawings

I finished my DML Tiger I w/zimm today,I added a figure set from Tristar and completed my kit out of box.I'm excited and happy with my results, though far from perfect. Thanks to the build logs here,I avoided some problems, like the warped hull, and the long DS tracks. There were no major problems at all,I really enjoyed this build, and am pleased at the results.I used Tamiya, and Vallejo paints and washes, and Mig Pigments.I know my figures aren't the best, but any comments and critcism welcome. Thanks for looking
