James you still have 6 days to go, you can do it in time.

Robert

Construction? yes.

Painting? Less sure!

I'll do my best!

Great job of the hunter Tom. You really nailed the tracks on that one. Looks fantastic, nice and clean.

Robert, I wouldnt say it boring mate! Looks pretty darn good to me. Its good to see a clean panzer here and there. Shows of all the detail! What was the kit like to build? I have been wanting to get one of the VK4501's. Not sure if I should get a Dragon or the Italeri.

Hi Eddy, Cheers for the idea mate. I agree with what you are saying... just I dont know how to do washes yet I recon the tracks (running tracks, not the spares) would look better with dirt or mud in the recesses, or as you were saying a bit or rust The dirt I am confident enough to do, the wash I am a little worried about getting it wrong and ruining the tank I will hafta have a think about it. Thanks for you help mate, only going to get better at all this with help from the experts

@DazzaD:
1. I am not that into German armor.
2. The VK4501 is a prototype, to me not as interesting.
3. I had trouble finding much information on this model of the Tiger.
4. The kit was not bad to build, it went together fast. I was troubled by the tracks, they gave me no trouble either. I just stapled them together, make sure the bogies are moveable when you install the tracks I was lucky that I read the instruction (a first for me) . The tracks look good enough for me to be pleased with, they fell into what looked like a sag.
5. The problems were with the tool box, it did not fit at all. Before I spent more time on it, the research that I was doing showed the prototype did not even use this item. The tow cable covers the side escape hatches The kit is basic as stated above it is an easy build, just not interesting for me just what was in my stash for the campaign. I also experimented with the hairspray technique and learned that I let the paint dry too long before brushing away. NEXT TIME I will get it right.
6.I am not a rivet counter, more into the journey of building as it is therapeutic so i could not tell you if the hatch is 5mm too far here or there .
7. If you are looking for a nice build the kit will not give you any surprises just as long as you leave the bogies free wheeling.

Ah, but it was used in Russia with the staff of Heavy Anti-Tank Unit 653 June-July 1944. Ar that time, the unit had Ferdinands (tank destroyer and recovery versions) as well as a strange collection of conversions (turretless Panzer III and T34 as ammo carriers), a Panther hull with a welded on Pz IV turret, T34s and a Panther mounting quad 20mm AAA).

Gary where you when I was trying to gain information on this vehicle, as I stated all that I found was on the prototype. Next time I will call you first

Hello All,
Sorry I have not posted in a few months, real life keeps getting in the way.
My 1/48 scale JagdPanther is 75% done and I have 4 days to finish it. I might even make a very basic Dio for it. Sorry no Photos. I lost my camera somewhere in the house.

The builds I have seen are great, We have some Great Master Builders here at this campaign and looks to me like some contest winners here also.
Have a good, safe and fun turkey day.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hi, here is my Jagdpanther, it is the Italeri 1/35 kit with the barrel from a DML (thanks to my spare box). I always have liked this candy bar scheme, in my opinion, it's perfect for this tank.

it's not perfect but I like it. maybe will add some weathering and a base, I am in the process of learning the figure painting basics ; "just" to ad some reference and scale to the model. hope will not fall in the dark side

Happy Modeling

Byron nice candy stripe camo as you call it. I also noticed that you have posted to the gallery, thanks for doing so. And you still had (3) days to spare, plenty of time to finish .

Hey all,
Some neat builds appearing! Byron, that's a great camo scheme - you should post a few more pics. (And can I use your spares box - mine doesn't have such goodies as DML barrels in it! )

And I like your 88, Lap Man. Especially putting it in front of that rail gun monster...

As for me, I finished my second build the dreaded Tiger I. Apologies for picture quality - I need a photo booth. The rainy weather this weekend robbed me of sunlight...

What a great campaign!

PS: What's the member gallery etiquette for older campaigns? Since joining last year for the Shermans campaign my gallery is filling up with "in progress" shots - how long do folk leave it before deleting the older stuff? I ask because a deleted photo shows as a red X in the old campaign log, which is frustrating if you've surfed to it for info...

Nice job Tom on the Tiger. For photos I use photobucket for in progress shots so I do not use the space on Armorama, but post my final/entry photo in the gallery. It helps with not having to delete so often.

What you might try doing is to upload the in-progress photos for a campaign in the campaign gallery, then edit your campaign messages to point to those instead of the ones in your member gallery, at which point you can then delete from your gallery guilt-free.

Hello All,
I got my JagdPanther Done. It is painted in a winter white with green splotches that look like the crew threw buckets of green paint all over the vehicle.
I used a cotton ball and just dabbed it all over the place. I hope you all enjoy it, I had fun finishing it in 15 straight hours.

I enjoyed the build except for the tracks. The Tamiya 1/48 scale armored vehicles have the large and small tracks that you put together and pray you got them the right way.
More photo's in the gallery.
Great Campaign with some Great Builds.
Cheers,
Bruce

Bruce I was just going to say that it looks like they threw on the paint until I reread your thread. How can you build in 1/48, I have a hard enough time in 1/35. Nice build Bruce, you finished by a nose hair.

One more to sneak in - still have 4.5 more hours of November 30th here!

here is my 1/48 scale Flak 18 (really old Bandai kit) that I built to go with my 1/48 scale aircraft collection
:

For such an old kit, it was remarkably easy to build. Only real trouble i had was with the tubes under the gun, which i wound up building from scratch. Also the decals totally fell apart on me, which is why it is currently bare (but I think that is ok for a flak 18?)

I didn't get to the towing carriage - oh well.

Hello Robert,
I got the idea of the paint splashes from a old photo showing a crew throwing some paint on the tank for a quick cammo job.
Thanks for a Great campaign.

@ Vance: Nice Flak 18, I can remeber when Bandai was pretty well stocked at my LHS back in the 1960's (Bobbye Halls Hobby House in Dallas, Tx) It is hard to imagine how they installed that gun into a turret.

@ Greg: Your Bandai Elefant has a unique camo and was very well done. In 1/48 it seems hard to see to work on, I have trouble seeing my work in 1/35. Your eyes must be a lot better than mine, and my fingers are too big to deal with some small parts.

@ Bruce: Hey! you do what works at the time as fast as can be done and a bucket of paint just thrown on works just as well as a sprayer. As for the campaign it was not my idea, I only stepped in when the original leader needed help. The only issue I have with the campaign is that I did not have a kit in my stash that peaked my interest to the level that I normally enjoy when building or destructing

In (5) hours I will have the honor to award those who posted in the gallery the ribbon for this campaign that jaypee designed. And these are the entrants that have finished so far.

Well, Thanks Tom, you don't have to twist my arm.

And the cannon came from a Coelian; and very nice Jagdpanther and Tiger too, what scale is the Tiger?

Byron,

Mine were both Italeri 1:35 scale kits. Like Robert, I doubt I could cope with anything smaller! (I did a lot of 1:72 when I was younger and my eyesight was stronger. I'm slowly moving up to 1:1 scale as I get older...)

See ya in the next campaign!

I took photos of basecoated model last night but forgot to put them on my USB pen so can't upload them on my work PC today.
I'll get them up as soon as I can, in the meantime I have uploaded pics of the finished unpainted build and I hope that is ok!

Congrats to everyone that finished their builds!
