Thanks Zaidi.

Yes, colours are Tamiya NATO Green, XF-67, NATO Brown, XF-68, and NATO Black, XF-69. All were thinned using Tamiya Thinner X-20A, and applied using my el cheapo airbrush I got from the UK. It was cheap but good quality all-metal brush. I got an even cheaper one this week but it doesn't feel anywhere near as nice and it has become my spare.Tamiya flats always have a fantastic flat finish that no one else seems to be able to match. It is a real shame to Future them so I don't now.

Warren,
thanks for your reply. I totally agree with you about their flatness appearance.

One more question, did u prime the model?? and did u preshade with dark color?
i found that the tamiya nato green color was hard to get a solid coverage if i preshade with black...

Mission accomplished.

Congratulation Scott.

"...not my best work ever but i am happy with it."

That's the most important thing.

I don't think I have ever primed a plastic model. I have only ever pre-shaded once. I was disappointed with the result and haven't done it again.

SOmetimes, if you have your paint too thin I have had trouble with getting good airbrush coverage, but after adding a bit more paint to the mix it fixes it everytime.

That is another advantage of using my syringe method for mixing paint, you can suck the old paint out of the airbrush and remix it which is a much easier way than having to empty it into another container, add more paint from the original, then pour it all back into the airbrush cup again.

Just signed up to this campaign looks very interesting, cant wait to see all the NATO vehicles! Ive just started working on a Tamiya Challenger 2, backdating it to an early chally 2 and fitting it with DFWES training equipment for a CATC OPFOR challenger, will get some pics up soon

Hello all:
I need a little help, my stash only a few kits that may be in the criteria. Here is what I think would apply if so does any one know for sure and have any ref. on camo schemes.

List:
Tamiya M3A1 Half Track
Zvezda M3 Scout Car
Zvezda T-34/85
Tamiya Mk. IV Ausf D

alright then! just received the stryker - and man! this kit is packet with tones of goodies: PE, rations, water bottle boxes and figures! just one question though, are there any strykers with nato 3 ton camo? the all-around green color looks a bit dull to me

hmm, which paint will i be needing then? I'm checking my box, and is looks to me something between dark green (tamyia's XF-73) and field grey (XF-65)? or maybe revell's rlm 71 (dunkel-grun)?
these colors seem alright to me but which should i go for?

Hi Matan.

there are so many variations on these green colours that you could use almost anything! The colour changes over the life of the vehicle as the sun and weatherfades the original colour. Then it comes up for a major servicing and it gets repainted again. You could always use NATO green..

yeah, i though of that, but nato green looks too bright (though it's a bit funny: it is a nato vehicle )
oh, and another question if you please: the kit comes with a dark-blue sort of paper sheet that the instructions refer to as "mast" but i didn't see on the instructions where it's used. moreover, how to you paint figures with camo uniform?

It only looks a little bright until you hit it with the weathering pigments etc. The colour always tones right down. You could always give it a darker filter coat as well if you think it is too bright.

I always try to prime my models. Halfords grey primer is a good start for lighter hues, but I try to use their matt black for anything that is going to be green or darker. When it comes to mr aribrush being used in anger the paint adherance is always better regardless. I know some folk recommend using washing up liquid for washing parts in, but if your like me and have a little person in the house, last thing you want is sprues to be drying and then disappearing, there always the danger of smaller parts becoming detatched and disappearing into the water system, 'cos it will always be the part you need that disappears.

However I have now done and my MK3 Chieftan is complete!! I'm not great with photo's but I hope you get the idea. It a 1:35 Acadamy kit on a 9:1 mix, 9 parts plastic 1 part filler! Hopefully the photo's are clear enough. Tell you what troops all the models on thsi are fantastic! This is my first campaign, but what a way to start, very inspiring. Thank you.

HELP. What do I do to show you all my photo's??

Hi guys! Time for some updates! ;-)

Here is my entry for the campaign, Trumpeter's 1/72 Challenger II.

Overall the kit was very good, with nice fitting and details. I build it OOTB, and finished it as a KFOR vehicle. I used the kit decals, and tamiya olive green and black for the camo colours.

Personally I find it very meaningful to submit a vehicle with NATO markings to commemorate NATO's anniversary...

OK...

IF I am getting a bit fed up with my current build (a Roden 1/32 Fokker F.1 for the Camel vs. Dr.1 campaign on AeroScale),

Which I am.

AND I want to find something completely different to work on for a while,

Which I do.

AND I'm thinking about an AFV Club NATO British Army Centurion,

Which I am.

What base color should I use (I lean towards Tamiya paint)?

I would, of course, join this Campaign with it!

There, that should start something!

Thanks!

Great work everyone so far...

Do you allow started entries? I started a cold war destroyer (Samuel Adams) for the Cold War Tin Cans GB over at MSW but did not get very far..could I finish it for this campaign?

Otherwise, I have a couple 1:700 scale subs I can add to the fleet in here.
cheers
