@AJB - What a change in your base, it really looks quite something. As far as I can tell you could probably post to the gallery now and consider that you've created a masterpiece. Especially after some of the problems you experienced.
Jaymes, the official closing date of the campaign is May 15/10. That gives you and the others a few days over two weeks to complete a build. I fully appreciate that "real life" interferes with our desires and I am sure that others have found themselves in similar situations. Your selections were the M19 and the M40 so either will do. From what Sabredog and I have experienced the M40 has had it's issues. In fact more than a few kits that have been built during this campaign have proved to have their own particular gremlins. As nobody has attempted the M19 to this point you would be the first with it.
@Everybody - If you are fairly close to finishing please try to press on. I had hoped that four months would have proved sufficient for these "simple" kits to come together. After seeing and reading some of the difficulties that several have experienced my view has changed.
IF I see some pictures before the due date showing substantial progress on a build I may be amenable to granting a short extension if asked.
Cheers,
Jan

Jan, I have uploaded a photo of Puma and friends to the gallery.
Jaymes, I believe it ends on 15 May. Should be enought time . . . Hope your exams went well.

Matthew, the chart on part 13 of this thread has been updated and your build has been duly amended. I have also changed the status of Richard (manicmodeler) for uploading to the gallery. I thank you both for your participation and your exceptional builds. This makes things easier for me but I will try not to ignore/forget those that might be having problems posting. Please, if you need assistance, just ask.
Cheers,
Jan

Right guys thanks for the feedback on the date for closing the campaign. I will make a start on the M19 saturday and hopefully paint it during the week is the plan whether I can pull it off is another matter.
I shall report back when I have some progress.
Please keep this great G/B going!
Would It be okay if I was to stick something other than a matchbox kit on the back of the Rogers trailer or would that be breaking the rules?

Sorry Jaymes but rules 2 through 4 make extensive use of the terms "minor" and "minimal" so a non original Matchbox load on the trailer would be a significant violation of their spirit. Way back in this thread there was a virtual vote by members that variations preferably should be less than 5%. A request by madmax5510 to cover his Firefly extensively with camouflage tape was voted down as distorting the spirit of the rules by obscuring the model.
If you post pictures solely of the completed M19 for qualification purposes you may do what you wish after that point. Should you manage to build a further Matchbox kit as a load for the trailer (it wouldn't even have to be Allied), that would without question be acceptable.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Jan thankyou for clearing that up. I will just build it as the matchbox kit on the base for this campagin and just add the load at a later date.
Jaymes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!!
It appears that my earlier conjecture that these Matchbox kits are turning out to be more than many of us thought they'd be is proving correct. I have in the last day or so received a few rather complimentary PM's (private messages) that have also urged me to extend the end date. I was originally personally thinking of extending the campaign to May 30th if circumstances warranted. This date has been requested by one message and the others have requested an extension by one month and until June 30 respectively.
From what I have experienced in previous campaigns these are not unusual requests and in our case may be warranted. May I ask all campaign participants to either PM me or post their feelings/observations on this subject in the campaign thread. If enough people are close but feel they could use some extra time to do a respectable job I will contact Gary Kato about an extension.
Thanks,
Jan

Hi all,
My first post so apologies if I've done something wrong.
I can't believe there are so many people who love building these little gems - thought it was just me! I know they are inaccurate and in some ways crude, but I think the result can look very effective; some superb photos on this campaign!
It's taken me ages to get round to scaling and finding out how to upload photos, but here they are at last (I hope). I built the Char B1 and Ft-17; I didn't take any build photos, hope this is okay. Enjoyed it so much I thought I'd build some more.
Would have built something without tracks as I think they look better, but I've already built all of the Matchbox reissues in my stash with wheels, the tracks on the Char B1 aren't too bad actually.
Currently in progress are:

@Technocrat - Your Char B and FT are looking great. You did a fantastic got on painting the figures. Normally for campaigns it is standard for participants to show in progress build pictures. Since you are rather new to Armorama and had issues with posting pictures, I'll grant you the benefit of the doubt. The pictures of the other two kits I'll consider "build in progress shots." Don't forget to post a picture or two in the "official" campaign gallery.
This campaign has really taken off and I must commend all those active participants. With your build we now have 11 completed kits for this campaign. IIRC, there is also a completed M7 that the builder is having difficulty in posting pictures. Observation also shows that 19 other kits are in the construction process with quite a number of those nearing completion. Tim, I might have initiated the campaign but credit is also due to all the individuals that participated during the initial planning stages.
Here's an updated progress chart:
If I've missed anybody, please let me know. With 14 pages and over 400 posts it's quite a job to totally keep track of all the happenings.
Cheers,
Jan

Jan, am ok with an extension. Am done with the Jagdpanther since a couple of weeks back, but have held off submitting because of the base. Been struggling with the groundwork colors, as I can't seem to get it right. Cheers -- Tat

Tat, you are not alone in struggling with your base. I too have been having problems in coming up with acceptable colour combinations. We now have half a dozen people either asking for or agreeing that some extension be appropriate. I'll wait for a few more responses before I decide on how long to make it.

Kimmo, perhaps your browser is displaying cached pictures. In the chart a few messages back I can clearly see a check mark by your name in the "Award" column along with the "Selection" column showing your kit in white lettering on dark green. You are also present in the "Completion" chart.

It is great to see these its being built!
Granted some Matchbox builds are challenging and the M40 I am building falls into that category, but that does form some part of the fun.
In my opinion the easiest Matchbox kit I have found so far to build was the Chaffee
I have even researched the correct colour of cabbages for the M40 base....

Hello again everyone,
Well coming in to this I promised myself I would not leave it all to the last minute. But now I find myself at the last minute
Still a weekend was enough when I was a teenager so two weeks should be enough now right ? Obviously I would be happy with an extension if that is what people want, but I do think the 15th May date concentrates the mind and is still the date I'm aiming for
So here is the progress I had coming into the Bank Holiday weekend, and I'm hoping for substantial progress before Monday evening. Time will tell.
The start of the chassis. Like some others I found the brown plastic particularly brittle and needs great care getting it off the sprue in one piece. The assembly diagrams are also somewhat vague about the exact location of some parts. Much dry fitting is recommended !
I found the cab fairly straight forward and the green plastic much easier to work with Just have to decide how much assembly to do before the internal painting.
The caravan body - fortunately for me - has no real internal detail
Progress so far, somewhat essentail to test fit everything I'm finding.
OK, back to the bench I go. Congratulations to all those who are finished and all the best the other last minute-ers
Chris

Hi! I´m also pretty late for this campaign, but I´m pretty confident I can successfully complete my kits in time.
Here´s my Firefly, ready for Painting
and I decided to build the Wespe as well
Shot at 2010-05-02
Nothing special so far... just wanted to give you an update.
I also have this almost finished Churchill on the shelf for some time now:
But I built it before the Campaign started, so it doesn´t count. I hope you don´t mind if I include some pictures anyway since it fits the general topic

Some extremely decent action occurring in this campaign these last few days. Positively motivational to say the least.
@sabredog - Dirty, rotten, underhanded scoundrel! Sneaking about looking at cabbages are you? Well, so have I and am astounded by the number of varieties and their associated colours. Maybe I'll get some actual pieces of real cabbage and glue them onto the base.
@NWBrit - Coming along extremely well, Chris. I am particularly impressed by the nice details on the caravan and your pictures are very informative. I could see a future project where one built the caravan and scratched a complete interior to the back. As for an extension I'll wait and see how the builds progress as I understand that some might work better under pressure with a deadline looming.
@Maxiplus - Maximillian, thank you for posting the progress pictures and your builds look very clean. With two well progressed builds I am certain that you'll have at least one finished in time. It is totally fine to have posted the Churchill as it can in itself be motivational to other campaigners. I must say that you have done a superb job on the painting of it.
As for me, I have still been fumbling about with the tracks and yet to commit to a course of action with them. I am happy to report that except for the base, all the sprues are now empty of parts. I have been tinkering with shading and colours looking for the right combination. As with all builds I am sure that each new one we do gives us pause to think about and develop new and improved techniques. As far as I am concerned a post with pictures is always better then one without so even though not a lot was done it is currently on the work bench.
Still have some putty clean-up to do on the interior but that should be complete today. Keep those progress shots coming!
Cheers,
Jan

Max, the Churchill looks great, so looking forward to the Wespe - if you only manage to finish one, I think that's the one you should go for.
Here is some painting progress on my bonus Panzerjager IV/L70. Great opportunity to experiment further with the toothpaste... so excuse the plethora of progress shots, but I enjoyed it so much. It's so much fun not knowing exactly what it will look like until it is done.
A coat of Tamiya Dark Yellow is followed by the first toothpaste mask; this time it is white Colgate:
Wheels covered with foil then Vallejo German Medium Camo Brown applied:
It went a bit funny with the Vallejo paint, as it was thinned with water, so it started to smudge the tiny toothpaste dots a little on the nose, it looks like it is sweating!
The second toothpaste mask to protect the brown:
Application of Tamiya Olive Drab:
All the toothpaste washed away and dried off:
Blobs are maybe a bit oversize, like the toothpaste spread a little with the brown paint, so a lesson for next time. Obviously I need to do the contrasting colour on the dark yellow, but haven't quite worked out how to do that yet. Either by brush or by another type of mask.

Excellent work on the Jagdpanzer! A very interesting technique I didn´t know yet.
Here´s my update for today, both my tanks got their paintjobs:
The Sherman camo looks a bit weird, but I did it according to the Revell instructions - bronze green and sea Green, a strange combination, I´m not sure if it´s realistic, but it looks certainly more interesting than overall dark green. I´m sure it will look much more convincing when the washes and filters are on.
The Wespe got a panzergrey interior and African theatre camouflage with grey bands on a sand surface - I don´t know if those vehicles were used there, but the diorama base and the figures leave me no choice It looks a bit sloppy right now, but I´m confident the washing and weathering processes will fix that.

Matthew and Maximillian, thank you both for posting your progress pictures.
@firstcircle - Again with your toothpaste methodology. In all seriousness after what you achieved on your Mk 1 and now with the ambush scheme on the JpZ I'll have to give it a try.
@Maxiplus - Don't be concerned with the original colours as they can change dramatically after weathering. Also, camera settings can reek havoc with displaying true colours. Then of course there is the reality of war where no two vehicles, even in the same unit, can bear little resemblance to each other.
Cheers,
Jan

Hello everyone,
The Bank Holiday weekend is over and my progress has been reasonable if not quite what I had hoped. These pictures are the progress up to Monday morning. Things are starting to come together and most constructions was complete by the evening.
This one is the Dingo underway and ready for intenal painting, plus the three figures. The figure on the left has lost an arm, but fortunately it was still in the box so I was able to re-attach it. Not so bad I guess given the age of the kit and the bittleness of some of the plastic.
With the major construction almost completed I have begun to play about with the arrangement on the base. This is one of the few kits where the base is big enough to give you any options as far as I can remember ?
Another arrangement and priming is underway. No cabbages for me, but plenty of cobbles
I hope eveyone else is progressing well. More later.
Chris
