Thanks for your nice comments, I really appreciate them.
Now, a quick update on my next builds: Both went together really nicely and didn´t take more than an evening to build, basically they are ready for painting:

The Stuart is really nicely detailed and fit together perfectly
for its age. It even comes with an alternate cast turret. However, a huge sinkmark on the hull deck had to be filled.

The Panther also doesn´t look too bad, even if it lacks a bit in the detail category. I have to find a solution to make that horrible tree on the base look somewhat appealing, I don´t want to completely replace it with something different.

@ firstcircle: There should be way more than 2 pics. Try again!

@ picxofus: Nice looking T-34, but those blue wheels sure look a bit freaky - were they like that in the original matchbox kit? A great build, but IMHO the modifications are too massive for it to be called OOB. I would still say it belongs here in this thread though, even if it doesn´t meet all of the campaign requirements. Just treat it as an unofficial entry, like my Churchill! But that´s just my opinion, maybe others will think different.

Well, here my completed Pzkw.III. (There are a few more shots in the gallery) Sorry for the lack of 'in-progress' shots - I recently moved and have not found my camera yet, so I had to borrow one for the 'finished product'. C'est la vie.

I have been very impressed by the overall level of skill that has been evident in this campaign. See it is still fun to play with your Matchbox toys!!!

I have just finished this Matchbox's T-34-76, the kit is modified with Trumpeter and Italeri's parts.
I would like to ask - will it still be OOB?
If yes,I will join this Matchbox Nostalgia Campaign.

Greetings picxofus and welcome to this campaign thread and to Armorama. Unfortunately the rules of this campaign allow for only minimal (less than 5%) deviation from the original kit. Your T34 is far too much a hybrid to qualify under the rules that the members here agreed to abide by.

On the other hand, if you have any other unstarted former Matchbox kits or the Revell re-boxing of them then we are more than happy to have you join this campaign. The campaign deadline has been extended one month until June 15/10 so you still have time.

Cheers,

I decided to tackle another one, but I fear I won't be able to finish it in time, maybe in time for the article though so we have another one off the list.

Stefan, what spirit you and several others are showing in this campaign. With the extension in place and a month to go you shouldn't be too rushed. The LRDG should be a breeze after the AVRE. ;-)

@ Maxiplus - The Maximilian assembly line appears to be in high gear and all but unstoppable. From the pictures I can see that the details on that little Stuart appear very nice. Thanks to you and others we are really rounding out the kit list.

@madmax5510 - Good to see you finally back Dani. I was starting to get a little worried about you. Hope that your leg is doing better. With four kits on the go I am sure that you can at least finish one in a month. I put you in the chart with the Krupp Protz as it looks the most advanced but your Wespe looks well along also.

@minas-ithil - A Panzer III is an ultimate and welcome addition to this campaign, Stephen. We are really starting to round out the available kits nicely.

-----------------------------------

I must say that you people are really putting the pressure on me just to keep all the bookkeeping in order, let alone concentrate on my own build. My head is almost spinning with all the recent activity. We still have six (6) members who have not selected a kit but on the other hand we now have sixteen completed builds. There are now 47 pictures in the Feature Gallery and that does not include the latest.

Here's the completion list to date. Please note that those with a red square with the word 'NO' in it next to their callsign have not yet posted a picture in the official campaign gallery. Would these members please post one (1) picture in the gallery at their earliest convenience.

And here is the updated general members list.

My thanks to everyone for making this such a great campaign thus far.

Cheers,
Jan

Holy Cowabunga! I don't drop in for a couple of days and this campaign is off to the races with a vengeance. There are so many really great builds going on here I just can't comment on all of them, they are really fabulous. I've heard enough that these are old kits and not all that serious. I suggest the people that told me that have a look at what has been achieved here.

Now for my humble offering. I wasn't sure that I was going to make the original deadline but I kept at it. It's only the second kit that I've ever completed but I have helped others with their weathering in the past. With all these extra ones being built and the extension I might try one more if I can find one. Anyway, I put two pictures in the campaign gallery and here's a few for your review.

Thank,
AJ

Wow! They just keep coming! Excellent work on all these builds people they look great! Really looking forward to the LRDG, was very happy when they re-issued that one, cant wait to see how it turns out.
Jan: your doing an amazing job as campaign leader and keeping track of all the builds coming off the "production line" that has started over the last 2 weeks or so!
With the extension I'am tempted to start another one, but have started another campaign with only 3 weeks to go and don't know if i could squeeze it in...

Tim

I surf away for a moment and my e-mail tells me that there are more new posts in the campaign.

@AJB - Your not pulling my leg about this being only your second build? The Challenger turned out superbly and the weathering is to the level it took me years to achieve.

@Firefly74 - TIm, I agree with you and AJ that the builds are coming fast and furious.

Jan

For whatever reason our campaign enlistment page has fallen off of the Campaign page. I believe that it has something to do with the original enlistment date expiring. Please don't be concerned as the new expiration date still applies (June 15) and you can see this if you look at the Campaign schedule that Gary Kato has updated.

Okay, for those that have completed a build, I have begun awarding ribbons. At the top of this page you can see the chart that I created to reflect the issuing of awards. If you have completed a build and you do not see an "Awarded" in the line with your callsign don't be concerned. I'd still like you to post one picture in the official gallery but on the same chart you will see that you have actually earned your ribbon. It's just that I will not award it until you post a picture in the official gallery or until the campaign ends. As always, if you have any questions then please ask.

Cheers,
Jan

That's how an unofficial extension works. This keeps new people from signing up. People can still upload to the gallery and the campaign thread is still unlocked and sticky.

You can still get to the campaign enlistment page. Click on the Armor/AFV icon on the left side of the Campaigns page and on the left side you will see a list of links to previous campaigns. Matchbox Nostalgia is listed there now.

Thank you very much Gary. I noticed the enlistment page was gone but still had a link to it in my bookmarks menu. Your post here definitely relieves some uncertainties.

So fellow Matchbox Campaigners, full steam ahead.

@madmax5510 - Absolutely gorgeous, Dani. Both the Krupp and the Puma look like they are nicely weathered and knowing you I can see them in a diorama in the future. These two will add nicely to those complaining that we didn't have enough German vehicles.
I have updated both charts at the top of this page to reflect that you have completed your build and are qualified for the award.

As for me, I finally got a chance to do some preliminary painting on the M40 with my new and finally arrived Iwata Smart Jet compressor.

A positive hive of activity... and so many of the gaps are being filled. Still looking for that SdKfz11, the Morris Quad and the Panzer II - is that right?

Panzerjäger LIV/70 is now finished. I will post a couple in the campaign gallery.

I just wanted to add some photos for the thread. I built this Jagdpanther a couple of years ago. I mounted it on a stained plaque this weekend and wanted to add it to the thread as another interpretation of the jagdpanther. This was always one of my favorites of the Matchbox tanks, since it implied movement with the tank crashing through the wall. There are a few more pictures in the campaign gallery.

thanks,
Stephen

@firstcircle - Your Panzerjäger turned out beautifully, Matthew. Every time I've looked at the pictures I'm amazed at how the painting turned out. It was convenient that we started this campaign and that it gave you the incentive to finish the beast.

@madmax5510 - Another excellent job and I am particularly taken by the camouflaged tunic on the officer with the pistol.

@ minas-ithil - Thanks for posting the Jagpanther as it should placate those who felt there weren't enough German vehicles. I have to hand it to you and Matthew for doing the rather complex "Ambush" camo scheme.

With the number of pictures appearing in the gallery and in the campaign thread it's going to take me forever to put a feature together. And I am sure there will be plenty more coming. Egads, what have I gotten myself into!

Cheers,
Jan

Absolutely excellent models all round everyone! Great to see these shown and built again.

I have finished construction of my M40 with the addition of the recoil tubes. My M40 barrel is elevated at a elevation of 45 degrees, so it really looks the part.

Next up, MIG powder weathering and some more pin washes.

The pix aren't that bad!! Maybe you could try taking some outside where it's brighter, plus the wallpaper is slightly clashing with the rigging and the bridge.

Li, the snow looks great. Can't believe what a bizarre shade of blue was used in the moulding of the kit. The original was a very pale blue.

The snow effect is very good on that T-34. What product did you use?

Heres a quick shot of the Comet primed and ready for painting. I stuck with the kits gun after all. After drilling out the muzzle and making the end a bit more rounded its turned out better than I thought. Looks like that brass ones going back in spares.
I've decided to go with the markings for 2nd Devonshire Regt, 231st Infantry Brigade based in Germany in 1945. This has an unusual brown camouflage over the green base (field applied?).
