Hi all, here it is in the wrappers,oh its the early not the initial my boo boo

This is becoming a really interesting campaign! So far my modeling interests have been in WWII Allied stuff only, so it's good to be in a campaign that's broadening my horizons!

I've been able to get some work done my Sherman. I usually build then paint, but with this kit I think I might paint some sub-assemblies as I go along. I'm planning to paint the road wheels then go back with a mask to spray the OD. I'll also paint the suspension (which isn't glued yet) then add the road wheels and attach to the hull down the line. I started working up some sponson fillers last night, but I'm not sure when in the build process to add them. Does anyone have advice on that?

This campaign is really starting off strong! With how nicely these kits seem to build, I may need to consider adding a few more builds to this campaign!

John: Not bad at all!

Michael: If it were me, I would want to add some reinforcement to the inside of the hull to strengthen the fillers. I would be tempted to add them on before securing the hull pieces together, which of course will require test fitting. But that's just me

Michael: Ah, I see Tamiya still has the open sponsons... Probably so the Germans can throw in a grenade or two... I would add them before mating the hull parts. Before painting of course...

As for me, I got some spare time on the bench yesterday and had a breeze with my T34. No Pics yet, but the suspension is ready and I'm working on the upper hull. I noticed some open sponsons as well, so I will have to remedy that. A very silly idea of Mr. Tamiya... Pics hopefully this weekend.

I guess the Sd. Kfz. 247 would use the same chassis as the Krupp, to make this version of observation and command.
I hope soon to be showing progress.

Jeremy & Stefan: Thanks for the advice! I hadn't thought about adding supports, but that makes good sense. With supports, I can add the fillers to the upper hull first, then mate the upper and lower hull pieces. Thanks again!

I agree. The assembly is almost too fast (not enough time to enjoy it ) The masking tape was in prep for paint, although, now that I think about it, these things screw together, so no need to mask the "glue seam" between upper and lower. Oh well. I hope to get paint on today and this weekend, and maybe the tracks.

Me being a complete neophyte when it comes to 48th scale armor and accessories (let alone 35th and 72nd).....but besides Verlden, who also makes decent bases....or am I better off devising my own?

I want to build a szene in ETO, at normandie area where a Sherman Tank makes a breaktrough trough a Hedgerow.
I hope that I can make a good model so I can by with you in the upper class.

Off to a bit of a slow start, but here goes - this is my planned project for the quarterscale GB - an M4A4 Flail tank in English service using Tim Perry's awesome resin conversion and a Tamiya base kit. Lots of parts here, that's for sure Hope it's not cheating to raid the parts box for the earlier bogies I threw in the pile - they were left over from abother build - have not completed my research to the point I am sure they go with, but the hull is an early DV M4A4, so they may be just the thing. Come what may, I am sure I will be rading the parts box a lot for this one :-)

Yes, it is going to be a challenge. That is why I am not completely sure if it will be a 2 or 3 colour camouflage. Maybe there will be no sand colour visible after the green and brown has been added.

Here are my pictures of the build before construction begins. It will take a few weeks before I get started. First a couple of other projects needs to be finished.

That is a g-r-e-a-t job on the tracks Domingo - the guys in my AMPS group have said the kit tracks are too short in the AFV 1/48 251 half track kit, but yours seem to fit perfectly - can you share how you got them to fit so nicely?
