Howdy Y'all,
You guessed it, cataract surgery, hoping I'll get back to 20/30 eyesight.
My KV-II is about 50% complete. I forgot to mention it is the 1/48 HobbyBoss kit. I wanted to paint it solid green and then whitewash it with the only markkings being the German balkenkruez on each side. I am modeling it after a tank on saw on the internet although I forget which site.
Thanks, Y'all take care!

Nice work on the T34 Stefan - watch out for the turret shape on the Tamiya T34 though - I have several (4) Tamiya T34 Model 1941 kits #32515 purchased from the first release. They have turret sprue C with the part number A905708 on it. I am told newer kits have a new turret with sprue number A905708-01 which has an improved turret shape (better cheeks and mantlet). A comparison with the Hobby Boss kit suggests that this is an improvement worth considering.
If your kit does not have it, you may be able to purchase replacements of this new A 905708-01 sprue. I have a request in with Tamiya USA on that, but no word yet. One idea I have is to try a welded turret based on the older versoin of the Tamiya cast part - that might be an interesting direction to consier as well.
Best,
Konrad
PS - have my Flail tank bogies coming together, and will post images of them soon (schedule permitting).

Hi
I'm still on the VAB, but it's down on the floor yesterday, with serious broken parts
So for first model, I send one of my motorcycles , a NSU 351 OSL with a Fallshrimjaeger with Annorack( extrem cold suit) for a dio on Bastogne.
Next a zundapp KS750 combo with figures, and picts of VAB.
Cheers
Marc

Zon: Your build is coming along nicely mate, it's about to go together soon?
Aloha Jeremy and Stefan,
I got bogged down this past weekend and week, so I'm still painting road wheels I probably won't put the upper and lower together for some time as I'd like to get all the base painting (including details and winter white-wash) first. Hopefully I can post some more progress shots after this weekend.
Take care, -zon

Some Progress: Fighting 48th Flail Moves OOB
The first step according to the instructions is to add the transmission covers, but since the second is to prepare the bogies, I went off track and built the bogies first. With all the detail on the Fighting48th M4A4 lower hull, I decided to add a lot of detail to the bogies to bring them up to the same level, so I dug around in the bits boxes and found some Toro resin wheels that include front and back detail as well as grease fittings not found on the kit parts.
Also added were some nut-bolt details to the suspension towers, and some scratched early type track skids made from some of the ample fret of the Fighting 48th etched bits with stretched sprue bolt heads. With all that detail, the kit parts are a lot closer to measuring up.
The nut-bolt detail on the towers was made with a smash moulding tool I got from Garfield Ingram - it says "Greif" on it but I have no idea where it was made - handy little bugger though - thanks Gar !!!
Having some fun here, now it is on to adding the tranny covers - may scratch a pair, as there is a bonus Sherman in all the left over parts to this conversion if I play my cards right.

Thanks Jeremy - they wheels are from Toro, available at http://www.adalbertus.com.pl/category/en/figures-accessories-1-48-resin-accessories
and come with the grease fittings cast in place, as well as complete backs. The skids were scratch built from brass sheet formed over a mandrel. I cut a strip of the right width from the Fighting48th fret to use for the project.
Best,
Konrad

Marc - that VAB has a lot of detail. I think you should put a little desert road under it to make it stand out more. Nice arabic signs
Konrad - that is going to be a mighty flail !!

Greg Sweet!
Konrad: Thanks for the link! And I wasn't aware that such a fret existed. Looks like I'll have to visit Track48 again and order a few more supplies.
Speaking of which, I still haven't received my first order from them. How long does it usually take for your guys' orders to arrive after date of purchase?

Greg: Thanks, looks like I'm just at the end of that time frame. I'll contact them if I don't receive my order by this Tuesday.
Stjepan: I like them all. It would be really cool to see you mount that Flak 38 on the back of the Opel

Thanks Anthony. Tomorrow should be marking three weeks, I'll give them a call by Tuesday night if my order doesn't arrive. I ordered a bunch of Hauler stuff for my campaign builds, and I'm guessing Hauler is European?

Lots of great builds going on here. Great to see more 48th modelers posting.
While waiting for my barrel, I started the camoflage on the hull. First, I used fine point ink pens with colors that closely match the paint to map out the patterns:
I then brush painted green using Floquil weyerhauser green:
I then added the brown by hand brushing Floquil brown:
I like using Floquil paints here because they will not react adversely with any later washes or weathering using oils or acrylics.
Next up, applying decals and adding some more details (jerry cans, exhaust, rear machine gun, antennae, steps) and do touch ups before starting washes and weathering.
