Marc: The bike and VAB are truly first class, but were they built after September 1st? I see the VAB has the date of 23. August 2010 on it. The idea of a campaign is to build it within the campaign time frame and post progress pics so everyone can watch and learn…Stefan

Many thanks for comments, Stephan.
But 23 Aug., the VAB wasn't finished. I'm not lucky with this VAB, it's the third time it's seriously damaged....
I have picts of VAB on the workbench, I will send them.
I hope I will have better chance with VAB NG, VB2L(master) and Zundapp KS 750 combo.

Howdy folks! Just checking in!

Anthony: Thanks for the compliment. Although I’ve been a bit absent lately. Life!

Zon: Coming along nicely. Any progress with the winter camo?

Alvaro: Nice progress!

Konrad: Great tutorial, thanks for the link. Haven’t soldered myself, but with the increasing PE in the kits it will probably be handy in the future.

Andreas: Your M4 looks great so far. And with the light guards in the right place it looks even better! Looks like some very tiny PE. Where’s the Hedgerow cutter from?

Andrew: Great to have another Italian kit. Never heard of these reboxings though. Is Supermodel part of the Italeri Company?

My T34 is ready for painting, I started on a small Dio. Have the basic shape of the base in styrofoam, now I have to get some structure on it. Hope to post some pics by the end of the week.

So, lads, keep the progress going!

Cheers!

Indeed, very cool Anthony - I totally agree with your approach to pre-painting the suspension and tracks - here is my Fitghting48th M4A4 Sherman Crab project with a set of Fighting48th T54E1 tracks on and painted - the rest of the tank will be painted as a piece, but the tracks and suspension parts are just too hard to cover IMHO if you don't paint it as you go. Just the basic colors, as they will all be adjusted and oversprayed in later steps.

Here you can see how detailed this kit is:

Let me know what you all think,

Konrad

thanks Jeremy it should be a challenge to paint and weather all that stuff
Konrad, yes Tamiya splits the upper and lower hull just right to be able to handle it in that manner, and your build looks like a good one.

I started working on the PE for my Hetzer build last night, but I'm going to have to take a few steps back and read up on that article again so that I make sure I know how to properly install the fenders and such.

Look who has finally showed up with a build. I know I said I was going to build an M4 DV,but that fell through. So I am building an M4A3. Hobby Boss kit, with the Iron Division A3 resin hull. The PE is from Hobby Boss, and the tow cable is from a 1/48 Karaya set.

UPDATE #3: U.S. Modern 4x4 Utility Vehicle w/Grenade Launcher

Hi all!

Following the previous posts showing both the underside and the interior of the HMMWV, it is now time to take a look at the exterior details... that is, the assembled model!

And what we have here? IMHO, and being my first 1/48th scale model, a quite accurate replica that demands almost no extra work from the modelers side.

Regarding the exterior of the Humvee, again, it features very nice details that do not leave so much room for improvements. As always, you can miss some details –i.e., the handle of the rear door- or some parts that you would want to improve –like the windshield wipers- but, as you can see in the enclosed images, this kit is above the average just OOTB.

You may notice that I have not used the aerial base at the rear because I´m not going to use it –ok, I know there is a radio inside!-

There was only one part that I refused to use as is and it was the ammo box. As you can see, the ammo box –and bracket- is replicated in two parts, one for the front and the other for the rear, that includes the ammo belt. I decided to cut the ammo belt, then to sand the inside of the ammo box and to relocate the ammo belt inside the –now- hollow ammo box. Not a difficult task that I´m sure will help to improve the final looking of the model when finished.

Well… it is time to clean the airbrush and to start the painting stage.

I hope you like it and, please, keep the fun going!

Best regards!

Stefan,

Due to unforeseeable circumstances I am going to have to withdraw from the campaign. Sorry everyone, I'll still stop by to watch the progress though.
Have fun!

Stefan: sadly I have not made any progress since my last post. I got ambushed by work. However I have some bench time this weekend, so will post more soon.

It is great to see so much progress and such good looking work. My hat is off to all you doing PE!! It is looking fantastic!!

Hi guys, very nice work going on.

My attempts at re-doing the antennae failed and maybe made it worse so it stays as is now. I haven't had much modelling time lately but I did rework my scene, so now I can focus on getting it painted (but after a week in Las Vegas).

Some great builds and painting going on here.
My barrel finally arrived and now is in the AB43 turret.

Now to paint it to match the hull.

Hope to finish this this month.

Wow - go away from this GB for a bit and things just explode - I am seeing some marvelous work - Bravo to everyone!

Since my last post I have been able to add the boom bracket parts to the upper hull, and have begun assembling the boom. Neither the boom pivots nor the flail drum are committed to glue at this point, as it makes removal possible for further work.

Unfortunately, the debris screen bracket joints popped during subsequent work, but I will defer repairs until the boom is mounted permanently. The kit kindly supplies the debris shield pre-formed, so that headache is avoided, but the composite assembly here just would not let me solder them, so they are weaker than the other joints.

Here you can see the assortment of goodies that go on the Crab to stow the assorted stuff that went with its mine clearing mission, including a wonderflully delicate chain bin - hard to see in the images, I have reinforced all the bends and made all the joints on the brass parts using solder for strength. On the wire cutter discs, I had used ACC but it added too much adhesive film thickness (the tolerances on Tim's parts are spot on, so no excess glue build up would fit), so I soaked them in acetone to debond the ACC and reassembled them with solder, sweating them together, which alows for a super tight joint.

Next it is on to adding more of the small parts, working from the center out, and constructing the turret. Lots more fun on this crabby patty before it is done.

Best,

Konrad

Wow, these builds are turning out great guys! I'm thinking that 1/48 is my new favorite scale You all are kicking my butt with the PE, I can't get the handle of it

Jim: That camo scheme is looking good there mate, can't wait to see the rest of the weathering!

Konrad: That flail already looks cool, can't wait to see the rest of the assembly!
