Hey Orestis,

Thats a cool vehicle ! Nice job! I like the crates on the back. What did you use to make the rope that binds the crates on the vehicle?

I have to make some oil staines, vegitations, some hands on the driverhach and turrethach, bind the logg and tracks on the side and call it a finnish...

Remco

@Paul:Thanks, will do!!!
@Hakan:, Thanks kardas, yes, it's the MTLB from SKIF
@Remco: Thank you, the rope is plain sewing thread, "stolen" from my wife's drawer. I Know it's not the ideal way, if making rope (It tends to shed fibers), but, Ι'm willing to risk it...

Really, have you ever thought, what useful things, are hidden in a woman's drawer???
My last raid, apart from the thread, came up with couple of paper nail files, that suites me perfectly!!!! But in order to obtain those things, one thing is essential: to cope with wife's nagging....

Orestis,

I know that a woman's drawer can be a goldmine...
I also got paper nail files bought at the store... You have to see the faces of the woman there

What also a good goldmines are, the fishingstores and a dollhouse stores.
Lots of metal rods lead counterweights, fishinglines and different woods and so on

O, dont forget the art stores (brushes and sculping stuff)

everybody, I'm very tempted to call this one 'done'

I decided it was time to join the 21st century and try some of those - for me- new-fangled techniques, so I gave the model a coating of Future and some washes and pin-washes with some oils (burned umber, raw sienna and - couldn't resist that one - Hooker's green).

As I didn't have any satin matt lacquer to hand, I used matt with a little bit of gloss added.

Followed by some pigments

@ Dierk- Great job Dierk! your decals look great! A masterpice
Next time a bit less brown on the decals... i found out that the letters and numbers were not that dirty because they had to reconise what tank it was.
So the turret numbers were made clean often. I got the problem that my numbers aso were verry ''dirty'' and clean the numbers up with turpentine or thinner. If that dont work i painted the numbers again with a bit dilluted white paint (50/50)...

@ Eddy- Where is your KV 220? i want to your masterpice finnished

@ Remco - thanks for the compliment!! Much appreciated. Also thanks for your tip on the turret numbers - I'll bear it in mind for the next one, too scared of messing up the finish on this one...if it's any consolation: they're cleaner on the other side

Gentlemen,
I realize the clock is ticking, but I would like to join this campaign in its closing weeks. I just received the Trumpeter KV-1 Ekranami 1/72 kit. It looked neat, so I started it this weekend and I think I can get it completed before the end of the campaign. I have taken a 'sprue-shot' and I will take a couple progess photos. I will try to get some posts up in the next day or so. BTW, I just browsed through the "Killer KV Gallery" - some very impressive builds there!

Thanks,
Stephen

@ Stephen - welcome to the party! Better late than never

@ Orestis - Thank you very much!! I must admit, there were times when I was tempted to introduce the model to the nearest wall but I'm glad I persevered.

Remco,
I have found that I have been doing 1/72 and 1/35 about half-and-half, although 1/35 is my main interest. I have always liked the looks of the KV-1e, with the big bolted on plates - lots of detail for weathering! I have built one of Trumpeters other small kits, the Strv 103b for the Braille Scale Campaign. I liked how it turned out and it was a not too bad build. FYI, if you are interested in some of the 1/72 Trumpeter stuff, Squadron.com is having a sale on many of the kits - $7-$10 each. I do not know how bad shipping would be to Holland, but Squadron is one of my main "go to" places for kits. Service excellent and prices are good.

Look forward to you KV,

Stephen

Hey Stephen,

You're right. I never look at the 1:72 scale in the catalogs I made a lot of them when i was young (and had more hair ).

Maybe i make it as a side project like my BA-64 B. I have to make a LA-7 and a panther first (the campains are a great way to motivate you for getting the job done )

I post some photo's soon from my work in progress

Remco

Fellow East Europeans,
After a couple of nights work, I have the Trumpeter 1/72 KV-1 Ekranami mostly completed. Following photos are the starting 'sprueshot' and the current state of the model - the subassemblies with the basecoat sprayed on.

More to follow.

thanks,
Stephen

Beautiful build, Oristis. Well done!

Dierk, great Sherman. The weathering looks great.

I am getting strated on my entry for this campaign. The Dragon 1/35 Sherman. I will probably finish it in the Polish markings on the box cover.

More to follow.

@ Jesper - thanks for the compliment! Nice choice of subject, but I hope your instructions don't have as many mistakes in them as mine did!

@ Remco - lovely T-34! I like the restrained weathering, but may I suggest a hint more dirt to the front? The drivers had a habit of clambering in through the front hatch, leaving a trail of dirt from their boots. You may have this planned already, if so I consider my wrist slapped , but adding a bit of dirt to the recesses of the tracks would give them a bit more depth?
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the figure painting (pm sent) an area that I really need to practice myself

Nice looking T-34, Remco. The paint job looks realistic and faded. Looking forward to see more.

I have made some progress on my Sherman Firefly. It is progressing although the many small details take time. Especially the PE headlight guards caused me some problems, but ended up were they should be

@ Jesper- Thanks for the complement. I see that you make a firefly... I also want to make a firefly from Dragon. I wil follow your build closely

@- Dierk- Thanks for the PM Dierk. I had my eye on it for a while...

I also had the idea for the footsteps on the front plate. I got some nice soviet ww II bootprints from calibre to do the job . I had the idea to make the a bit blurry because the tank was riding some time in the city...

The tracks are a bit of a dilemma Because it drives arround the citystreets, the tracks vibrations shakes off the drirt... On the photo the tracks look clean of any drirt. The mudding process i did was also a bit to much and turnd out great ...

Met viendelijke groet, (With kind regards,)

Remco

Well, no sign of the replacement parts for the T-72 - apparently HLJ is still waiting for their shipment from Miniarm.

I've started the ASU-85 - will post pics in the next day or so.

To One and All,
I am calling my KV-1 Ehkranami done! I built the Trumpeter 1/72 kit OOB. I had my worries about the decals settling over the bolts, but with a liberal application of MicroSol they snuggled right down. As I have found with Trumpeter, the plasticvinyl used for their tracks resists almost all glues. Next time I will probably staple or use thread on them. Bothersome.
The paints used were primarily Polly-S, my personal favorites, alas, soon to disappear...sniff, sniff. C'est la vie. I have not yet found a replacement line of paints that airbrushes AND handpaints anywhere near as nicely as Polly-S.

Here are a couple of photos of the finished model. These photos have also been added to the campaign gallery. Comments always welcome.

Thanks,
Stephen

I got started on my build for this campaign just last week, and only have a till the 29th to finish, but luckily it is a small project.

I am doing MiniArt's 1/35 T-80 (later development of the T-60/T-70 line of scout tanks). I am currently reworking the air intake louvers. I have also replaced some of the ridiculously fragile small kit parts with strip styrene.
