Here a few photos of some parts I did in the last week. The stowage box and exhaust shields were slightly damaged. The back armor plate with zimmerit was combined with another one without zimmerit to produce what you see. I think it is easier to do that than scraping between the details.

By the way I do not like what I did to the stowage box, what do you think?

More photos to follow next week…..

Enlisted....
I'll be doing mine based on Academy's Early Tiger 1 (no interior). I got the kit for Christmas so it works out. I'll probably build it straight out of the box. I am debating on options. It'll probably be a month or so before I start.

I would like to join this campaign, (it would be my first) but have a couple of questions.
1) I have a Dragon Tiger I (P) that was barely started before I left for this deployment-- would I still be eligible to join with that kit.
2) I won't return back to the US until May-ish- can I join that late?

Thanks!

Mmm... ok then, barely started is reasonable, it depends what you call barely started
Just show off a pic how far you are.

Hi Folks,
Just a quick query - for the purposes of this campaign is the Ferdinand/Elephant considered part of the 'Tiger family'? I look forward to your observations.

All the best,

Paul

Ok guys got some work done on these tracks. 1st time working with these individual link tracks. The problem is that they say to use 99 links on the rt side and this is what 99 looks like
Photobucket
The left side they say to use 100 and I got some primer on the wheels too

Hi Sal,

Do you get enough spare links to plug the gap? I've only used Tamiya's own indies on Panthers, and found I needed one or two more than recommended per side. Still, those sets had enough extras to cover the tracks and the mounted spares...

Oh Yeah they give you plenty of spare links. The left side was still drying but I still have more work on that side. It looks like the right side will take 100 but like i said the instructions call for 99 oh well guess thats why there are lots of extras

I believe all types based on the Tiger chassis are allowed, check the quote from the first page:

Hi Folks!

I'll propose a Tiger Tank Campaign, all types of Tigers are allowed,
and all vehicles with the Tiger Chassis are allowed to.
- Tiger I
- Tiger II
- Bergetiger
- Elefant
etc.

Scale 1:76 - 1:16
Is anyone interrested in such a campaign?
Tell it here!

Greetz,

I'm building the Tamiya Mid Production Tiger 1, and I have the same indy links that Sal does; the sprues are even marked "MM Tiger I Late Version" on the reverse of the sprue letter tab. There are three sprues, each with 80 individual links on them. One of mine was busted off. I haven't started working on the indy links yet, at least now I have an idea. My instructions called out 100 links per side so I guess I'll be eyeballing it with 100 on one side and probably close to 108-110 on the other.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the clarification, perhaps I should have re-read the campaign criteria - silly me . Anyway, I have a 1/72 Dragon Elephant with the Atak resin upgrade and the Part photoetch, I think that I will crack on with that after I have finished my PzIVs.

I'll post photos of the kits and the start of the build soon.

All the best,

Paul

Paul: Now worries mate. I'll be building up a few of those in the Braille campaign sometime hopefully soon. Where do you purchase your 1/72 armor AM from?

Alright guys, sorry for the grainy picture, but here's what I will be building:

Hi Jeremy,

Unfortunately you live in the U.S of A and from what I gather it is not the best place in the world for Braille Scale AM (I stand to be corrected, but this is what I gather from other American modellers whom I am in touch with). If you can stand any import duty and a little delay I would recommend the following traders, I have dealt with both of them and they are, to all intents and purposes, reliable.

http://www.lonewulfmodels.co.uk/

http://www.jbmodel.eu/

There is also this company, but I haven't used them personally.

Hope this helps, all the best,

Paul

You are unfortunately quite correct in your assessment. At best it's hit and miss. Braille armor isn't the most popular subject over here, but I keep my fingers crossed in hopes that will change soon.

Thanks for the links. I've come across JB Model before during my google searches, but I didn't know anything about them. I'll have to look into those sites later and see what kinds of shipping costs I would be looking at, but it's good to know there are reliable options

Sal,

Yeah, I noticed those after I went back and looked at the sprues and realized those 12 links are for the spare tracks for the turret. Thanks for the heads up though, I was just about to cut them all off the sprues and start cleaning them up. That would have been a painful lesson learned.

Count me in.

I'm going to do a Dragon Henschel Jagdtiger from the 512th based on the surrender at Isenhorn.

thanks

Hi guys, I'm in on this one.

I'll be building an African Tiger I based on this kit:

I'll be using a Voyager upgrade set and Friulmodel tracks

this is how far I am at the moment:

I added a MG cover from my spares box...not very far, am I?

cheers
