Im contemplating...Would seem nice to join this campaign, but you'd have to drop me a message about the start of it. Good chance of me forgetting.
Still I'd like to do an M50 Ontos or an M706. Probably go for a "why are we here anyway" feeling. Put me down for it.
Cheers

I would definitely be interested. I'm thinking about an F-8 Crusader at the moment but we'll have to see.

An F-8 Crusader would be a great choice Vertigo! You have plenty of time to decide. You are by no means restricted to a single build and there are many great choices for aircraft as I'm sure you are well aware

Well, I've decided for this one too (after a fashion). The main focus will be a M706. Still not sure whether it will be the MP version or the USAF one, but definately the Caddilac.
accompanied by this in civilian livery
I'm thinking red with black fenders...
Also, check out Mec Models for some 'Nam specific accessories.
NB: I have no afilitation with the proprietor of Mec Models: I merely wish to point in the direction of something that may be usefull for this campaign

Hi all. Lots of nice ideas for builds.
I enlisted recently and have been deciding what to build, have never built anything from the Vietnam era. Thanks for the motivation!
I have the Airfix reissue of the old JB - M113 Fire Support kit and will build the Australian version, it's not often you get a kit with Australian unit decals especially in Braille scale!
Have found some great references, it looks like the kit will need some extra work (no surprises there as Airfix have not retooled it).
Cheers,
Tim

Finally found some time to browse these in full size....really is a great collection: thanks Anirudh. I particularily like the twin M60's in this. I'll be including that in my LSSC build for sure.

I recently got my hands on "Marines in Hue City: A Portrait of Urban Combat, Tet 1968" (ISBN-13: 978-0760325216). I am no expert on the battle but the pictures are a great source for ideas and references. There are a lot of "little" scenes like a couple of Marines lugging a 106mm recoilless around, the M48s and M50s in action etc.

For model building: GREAT
Good source of general pictures
Good source of ideas for dioramas
Good source on "colonial french architecture in Vietnam"
Pictures are given with source and comments
Some pictures are new, showing the same place in 200x
I can not say how good the text is from a historical point of view but the text reads well and matches other sources. Written from a US PoV and with a pro-US/South Vietnamese focus
The pictures are not of the "walkaround" or "close up/fine detail" style but rather "combat cameraman" style. The picture on the cover is a good example of what you find inside, some B/W, some colored

As we progress I still have my seabag, a helmet and liner, and some clothing from my time in the Corps. I went in as our de-escalation was announced, and was immediately sent to Okinawa. We were the backup for the Kho Tang island battle, it being the last official battle of the VietNam war, and participated in the evacuation of Saigon.
I also have vivid memories, but it'll cost ya.

Hello Jeremy and others,
i guess i found the right place !
So, let see if i meet the requirement for the campaign :
The action takes place in january of 1952, involving a french Sherman (75) and paratroopers, and I began the kit before to let it down. But i did not began the base.
The kit is the Tasca Sherman M4A1 "late version" and i will change is camouflage for a french one (from the RBCEO, a colonial armored regiment)
As i wrote to you, i began the srachbuilding (in Evergreen sheets and strips , food aluminum and weepam) of the interior as i want all the trapdoors open, here is the photos of the last update when i let it down last year
Also there would be at least 6 or 7 selfmade figures as crew members and paratroopers.
I began 2 of them but since last year i guess i made some progress so i will completely re-model it, all the same i show you to take idea of their position:
a crew member
a paratrooper officer
So do i meet requirement ?
Cheers
nico

Nico,
I think I know what Jeremy will say-- don't do any work on the base, so the base and composition will be your official campaign build.
It's cool to see an earlier French piece in this campaign, besides the later American builds most of us will do!
Cheers!
-Sean.

Hi Nico,
Welcomed in !
Nice idea. I too love Indochina war. So french, so heteroclyte and desperate war !
The interior of the tank is really nice and apparently homemade.
The figure is a good atempt at sculpting. I do prefer the officer to the driver though.
And beware, here we are in the USA, so you must obey the rules unless you will be arrested in put in jail, like one of our compatriote ;). Nothing before 1st of August !
Have you seen that Bravo 6 started to release a set of figures on the INdochina war, and particularly on Dien Bien Phu. The figures are full of action, so migjht not fit your project, but I'm really tempted at make my campaign project on them !
Best Nico

Speaking of Bravo-6: I`ll start the campaign off with a small vignette, seeing as I am not sure whether or not the bigger dio can be finished in time. My vignette will be made up from this duo.
I also have a title sorted out for it, but I`ll just keep that under wraps for now
