As for me, I discovered that Squadron has an Academy M997 humvee Maxi-ambulance on sale for only $12 (plus shipping), so I'm giddy to get one and start cutting it up at the stroke of midnight on May 14th.
drat. By April 7th, this April sale item was sold out. I'll keep a keen eye out for another deal.

Does it have to be a new build? Would it be acceptable to take one or two old builds and re-hash them? Something like changing:
Yes, as long as significant work is done then it will be acceptable. Let me know what it is that you want to do. You can PM me if you don't want to reveal it here yet.
Sean H: There are a lot of sales going on right now, keep your eyes open because a lot of good deals are popping up all over

Thanks, count me in so. As soon as I figure it out I'll post it here. Given it's a campaign it'll have to be a bit OTT
I'm thinking along the lines of Humvee all-purpose fire-support vehicle. Like the Avenger but with sidewinders, TOW, rocket pod and bushmaster all-in-one. Might have to stretch the chassis or add 2nd rear axel to fit it all....

Sean, that's going to be kickass!
As for me, I'm already hunting down a cheapy Italeri in Evil-bay. ...plus, I'm thinking of trying my hand at sculpting a UPS driver, inspired by Andrzej's steam punk lady. Thinking-- but don't hold me to it. In either case, the local craft store had Sculpey on sale for 99 cents. We'll see if I can turn out a passable figure. I figure trying new things keeps it fresh.
cheers!

Aloha all,
Tom: Looks cool. Should be fun.
Sean M: Nice Humvee idea.
Sean H: I like the UPS idea.
I've got two ideas competeing for my attention on this campaign and I'm not sure which way to go.
First is a sort of western type stage coach made from a post-apocolyptic horse-drawn Humvee.
Second is a crowd control vehicle using a Staghound as a base and some cool turret / weapon on top.
Still mulling...

Hi Jeremy!
I was thinking about a German E-50 SPG with a 128mm gun, a British amphibious attack vehicle but probably I will go for a Chieftain in IDF service (that was not impossible at all) with fourth generation add-on armor. I do not have any sketches yet but the Chiefty would look like a Magach 6B Gal Batash.
I must have overlooked this, but these are great ideas Andy! I really dig the IDF Chieftain, it would look rite at home in Israeli markings
Sean M: Wow, that would be one killer beast! Sounds like a very possible Merc vehicle that would be custom produced in very limited qualities.
Sean H: Try something new whenever you can bud
Zon: Go for the stagecoach, that's quite an original idea

I really good friend of mine back in Blighty in his younger years (17th/21st Lancers) was going to Israel to demonstrate the Chieftain when the government of the day changed their mind!! I think he said 1 to 3 where delivered!!! and that they never got them back!
A really great idea this Andy.

Hi guys!
Jeremy, Duncan: Thanks for supporting my IDF Chieftain idea. I actually read somewhere that the IDF was interested in using the good old Chiefty but later on they changed their minds and started using the M60s instead.
Zon: that stagecoach sounds very original. Please go for it!

I just sent my PayPal payment. I'm committed now. I found an Italeri M988 missing its decals. It should be here with a month to spare before this campaign, and at $15 including shipping, it should be under the wife's radar

Andy, stagecoach it is! Thanks for the support. Now to decide two horses or four...
I also like your IDF Chieftain concept. I've been reading on the Yom Kippur war lately and your subject is interesting to me.

I just enlisted. I won't be able to build until later summer time frame. I am building German.Eraly days of the eastern front.
I am leaning toward the Trumpeter VK 3001,and replacing the short 75mm with either the L/43,or L/48 barrel.

Chad, cool. I didn't know what that was, but google sent me to a Cybermodelers review, and I quickly read up on it. Changing the gun sounds like a good idea. You've got plenty of road wheels to work on! (I haven't done a tracked vehicle yet, so am wary of how intense that is!)
The only thing about the Cybermodelers review is that they suggest building it without a turret, as actually tested, but the parts trees clearly show no interior at all, so that would be a pain!
Anyway, I'll be watching yours with interest.
I looked at kitbashes I might do, but I've been doing that enough lately, so I'm still set on the Tamiya Char B bis in German use OOB for my first tracky.

I've been sneaking by so far! I'll admit to a Panther when I was a teenager-- very long ago
, so I have done rubber-band tracks already, just not well.
It's gone now, but I vaguely remember it as a Tamiya, with the rectangular holes and plugs in the bottom for an earlier motorized version.

Sean, if you're going to start a tracked vehicle soon then the Tamiya Char B1 bis has great tracks. You just dump them out of the bag and hook them together with a little glue, probably the best indy tracks I've ever seen in a kit
Otherwise go with a Dragon kit with the DS track, much better than the rubber band tracks other companies use

Jeremy: Only if the cyborg technology is sufficiently advanced that there is no exterior difference from a real horse!!
I'm overreaching as it is with animals. My main hinderence thus far is finding an appropriate kit. I've already got the tamiya German field kitchen, so the next two need to be in a similar stride, or at rest. I've book marked a couple possibilities, but now I have to decide if they will work.

Wow that JagdCromwell is excellent! and very original fantastic post!
I think if the WW2 had gone past 1945 with the Allies fighting the Russians (for what ever reason) Allied kit mixed with German design/equipment would have been the way! as Germany's infrastructure was nearly none existent to start building the E- series etc!
But.... I'd build an E-50 or E75 tomorrow given the chance!

Got my kit today. Just 1 month to go... at least it's a 30-day month.
Pacing, wringing my hands, pacing, making sketches and finding parts, pacing...
Needless to say, I don't expect to use the full campaign length.

Keep the gears turning guys, this is all great stuff!
Remember to post a backstory about your build. It doesn't have to be elaborate, although that does make things much more interesting
Sean: The earlier start date is just for you and a couple other guys who are quite anxious to start as well. I'm getting pretty pumped up myself and have already started gathering the kits and stuff I need
