I'm not turning up much more than you bud. From his account, it didn't sound like a major flooding. It seemed more like it was a local flooding where the Marines had a temporary base set up. Thanks for taking the time to help out Sean

Enlisted as well: for now I'm thinking a RMASG Centaur (not Hunter), but I am secretly hoping that Accurate Armour will do a Viking in the near future. As a very, very small maybe: a Tunaboat from the Lagunari (we can call them marines, right?)

Hello All,
We have enlisted so far. We need just 2 more so far. I will put invites on the other sites this weekend.
@Benjamin,
Tell me a little more about the tuna boat from Lagunari. I have not heard about it. Thanks.
Cheers,
Bruce

Tell me a little more about the tuna boat from Lagunari

The Italian amphibious troops use the AAV7-A1 (and some LVTP's? - not sure about the exact designation). They have the nickname Tuna Boat because of their shape.

Now the problem is that the Lagunari are not technically the Marine Corps: they are an army-based amphibious unit, attached to an armored regiment. They do fulfill the same role as their navy equivalent (Reggimento San Marco), fast respone, first to hit the proverbial beach, that kind of thing. Oh and they're based in Mestre and use the Venetian Lion of Mark often.

Still the Reggimento San Marco use them too, as do the indonesian marines so I'm not exactly sure yet.

Hello Benjamin,
The Reggimento San Marco is OK. The Lagunari are out. The Tuna boats are in.

Thanks Bruce. Gotta note an F'up from my side: the Reggimento San Marco does the lion of Mark thing...figures when you're called St. Mark's Regiment. Picked that up when they were stationed in Venice during the Cold War.

Maybe I should stick with the Royal Marines Armoured Support Group after all...

Gents,
I've been off line for a few days, and just caught up with this thread. No way I was going to miss modelling my "Alma Mata". Needless to say, I have joined in again. ( I'll never learn ! )

Sounds like it could be an interesting campaign. Semper Fi.......... Bruce

Thanks for the invite Bruce M and count me in...though I usually hang in the auto-modeler section this one looks too fun to miss.
Deciding one the exact subject will be difficult for two reasons;
- between the new 1/24 Italeri Willy's jeep 1/4 ton I just got today or the 1/25 aussie backyard shed's '42 GMC truck cab and wheels resin kit...I have a 1/25 '41 plymouth coupe but the staff car I saw was a pic of was a sedan{...and I "think" it was army ta boot} .
- the two well angled pics I've seen of the USMC truck or jeep showed few markings and only one shot of each vehicle....I'm waiting to hear back from a neighbor who served in the marines in WWII to see if he has any pics of any USMC vehicles...no luck yet there and the web has little to offer in multi views with good markings...then me finding markings in 1/24-1/24. I'll come up with something though..... Just how accurate do the markings have to be for the chosen marine unit?

Hello Bob,
I was hoping you will talk some more of your auto guys to join up. It is open to present day so firetrucks, wreckers, ETC are all allowed as long as they are Marine Corps, Not all that pretty colors they use.
If you give me a day or so I have a book called the Marine Handbook 1940 to 1945 and shows all kinds of photos. I am also looking for a very rare pamphlet put out my a Gunny Sargent who ran a motor pool for 20 years, It is only 100 pages long, But it has over 400 photos of Marine vehicles that came through his motor pool. I was Lucky to find it and very lucky to wear him down to buy to the only other one he had made. So I know I can find the handbook easy. The pamphlet is going to be harder.
See if you can get some othe AutoModers to join up, The more the better,
Cheers,
Bruce

Bruce, I was up till 2am last night and luckily found that one of my 1/35 scale jeep kits had USMC markings....wasn't listed on the box....so now all I have to do is find a source for 1/25 scale markings{decals or dry transfers} and I'll be all set since I really want to build that new Italeri 1/25 jeep I just got. I have a 1/76 scale kit of a duece and a half dump truck that I'd love to turn that 1/25 cab conversion kit into but that one may wind up as army since I don't think the Marines had any of those.
I'll post over there that I'm in this one, but as the saying goes...."you can lead a modeler to a kit or campaign, but ya can't make him join or build".

Question- a while back my computer got a virus and when I removed it it took my whole "favorites" section with it...never thought to back that up! One of the sites I had was a multi view line drawing site that showed lots of trucks{semi}, a few busses, and had some duece and a halfs there in different configurations....thru web searches I can't seem to relocate it still, does anyone know of a good source for multi view line drawings of military vehicles on line?
I'm looking for the long and short wheelbased CCKWs......

Hello All,
We now have a ribbon thanks to Gary our campaign manager.

@ Darren,
When you make a ribbon make sure that it is has a .gif on the end or we have use a graphic program to change it to .gif. I am not saying you did anything wrong, Just a little tip for any other ribbons you might make.

You made a great one for this campaign, Thank You.
Cheers,
Bruce

I know about the gif part but you cannot upload gifs to the gallery and so it has to be turned into a gif if accepted.

You can load gif files into the gallery, as well as png and pdf files. I will have to see if I can output my kit instruction translations into pdf format to upload into the gallery.

Gary I do not use the KitMaker Gallery due to the issues it is suffering at the moment and instead use a gallery in the features area which does not accept gifs. As there is nothing to say that a ribbon I produce will be accepted I upload jpegs, however if accepted I am more than happy to send to your staff E-mail the gif image of the ribbon.

I didn't know there was a separate features gallery, I thought it was just a section of the Kitmaker one. I can certainly do the conversion when needed.

Thank you Gary. I have also put a large ribbon on the military railroad campaign. The size is scaled to come down to 50 x 20 and will need to be made a gif.

Marine Corps Campaign?? OORAH!! I just bought Tamiya's 1/35 AAV7A1. Jeremy, I still have a bottle of Ripplin' Water from our Submerged Submarine [mis]Adventures, so maybe I can redeem myself in your eyes and make the Amtrak chugging through the waves!

Also, will this be the thread for build logs or will that be elsewhere? Thanks!

Hello Robby,
No this will not be the thread when the campaign starts.
I will have Gary lock this one and start a new sticky one on the day the campaign starts or maybe the day before depending on when Gary gets to it.
This is a good place to bounce ideas off others and gather info before the start of the campaign.
Cheers,
Bruce
