G'day guys !
I'm in on this Campaign with an Italeri LVT (A1) in 1/35. I'll also add a Warrior Crew. I'm not sure which landing yet, but I have a few covered with markings !
Cheers,
Paul

Hi all,
i wanted to join and was thinking about what to do .... and i found out last week end.
I would like to sculp a figure of a french marine infantry soldier who was implicated in the 1870-1871 french-prussian war.
I was inspired by this famous painting (free of rights so i can publish it here) called "les dernières cartouches" ("The last cartridges"):
The fight involved french marine corps (1rst, 2nd, 3rd and 4th regiments) , knowed as the "blue division", in the batlle of "Bazeilles" during August the 31rd and september the 1rst of 1870.
French marines fought in the village of Bazeilles in a desperate attempt to stop a whole german army corps (the first army corps), inflicted them heavy losses before to be overwhelmed.
French losses were 2655 men, and more than the double for germans.
cheers,
nico

Hey folks,
A Marine campaign sounds excellent- so many options...
I was thinking of maybe doing a Falklands War era build. You had the Argentinian Marines spearheading the initial invasion (capturing a small garrison of Roayal Marines) then when the British Task Force came along the Royal Marines pushed the Argentinians all the way back to Port Stanley (well... the Royal Marines did have some help from the Para's, the SAS, the Guards regiments etc. etc.)...
Anywho, great opportunities to build either Argentinian or Royal Marines stuff.
Later,
Eoin

Hello Nicolas & Eion,
Welcome to the campaign.
You both have great ideas for your builds.
@ Nicolas,
I am not sure how you are going to be able to have a photo of your figure with a newspaper with date before you start. I think that you should have what ever you will use to make the figure on the paper and take the photo will be OK.
I am sorry am it but it is in the rules. Hopefully that will be OK with you.
Any questions you can PM me.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hi all. I've been lurking on/off for a while (been painting wargaming minis for a couple years straight now) and saw this campaign come up. Being former Corps and having some kits sitting collecting dust I'm in. This would be my first campaign or net based model group. I've read the rules and understand them so I think I'm set, I just need to settle on a subject. Finally I could make a dent in my 1/35 stuff!

Hello Striker,
Welcome to the campaign and I am glad you pick mine for your first campaign.
You will find that most campaign's run on "autopilot" most of the time and the Campaign Leader just is the "Cheerleader" for the modler.
If you have any questions or concerns, Please let me know either by PM or the threads.
Again,
Welcome to the campaign,
Cheers,
Bruce

This sounds like fun and it gives me a reason to build an OLD OLD UPC LTVA4 I've been putting out for years.

i am definately in on this one. oorah!
ive got a couple ideas in the mix. i am either going to do a small dio or vignette.
im going to do a small dio of a scene that i remember when i was in the marines. either of the ant. farm or a mortar emplacement.
or, im going to do a past/present day type thing. half of it will show marines of the present in normal color and marines of the past in grey. or a half and half USMC vehicle that shows vehicles of past and present to give the viewer of what was and what is. lots of decisions to make on that

Hello All,
Welcome to the campaign to our 3 newest members to sign up.
If you have any questions about the rules, Please ask either in the thread or PM me.
@ Jesse,
I saw a dio years ago showing a British Armour Officer(His tank behind him) looking into a large mirror and seeing a A Knight on a Horse looking back at him, On the knights shield was the coat of arms of Britain. You could look at it from both sides of history. The Old & the New kings of the Battle.
Maybe you could do something like that. Have a Marine in Modern Combat Gear standing at the top of a hill and have the past marines on different levels of the hill IE: Desert Storm, Cold War, Vietnam, Korea, etc.I am sure you get the picture. I think it might look great.
Cheers,
Bruce

Welcome Neil and his prewar plane to the campaign.
whatever i decide, its going to be very iconic, thats for sure. perhaps something with the raising of the flag on mt surabachi. like instead of doing old and new, do an old in actual color but half of it to look like the memorial?
ive got so many thoughts in my head atm, its rediculous. i even contemplated recreating tun tavern

I'm in with an OV-10D Bronco, USMC during Desert Storm. You gotta have someone up in the sky keeping an eye out for the guys on the ground.

Hello All,
I have asked Gary Kato to lock this thread and start a sticky one for the campaign.
The sticky is where you will post your pre-build photo's of your kits with newspaper date showing before you start your build. I also have to post a photo of my kits before I start.
It is also where you can post your in-progress photo's, ask questions, comment on other members builds, etc.
I have also ask him to set up a photo gallery for the finished photo's of your builds. It is very important you post your finished photo's in the gallery as I use the gallery to award the ribbons.
If anyone have any questions, you can PM me.
Cheers,
Bruce
