Good question,I guess the Leader will be the final arbiter,but I would say the tracked vehicles would qualify as light,but not the wheeled vehicles."Just Saying"

Well in germany we call stuff like the Bundeswehr Fuchs and Luchs „Panzer" while anM113 is a „Transportwagen" so I ask, after all the two wheeled beast have a 105mm canon.

"Panzer" just means "armor", not necessarily "tank". For example, "Panzerspaehwagen" means "Armored Car".

I Know, me Kraut
But Spähpanzer = Reconnaissance tank, Transportpanzer= Transport tank (Luchs and Fuchs) and the Centauro is a Radpanzer = Wheeled tank. The latter is a tank in all respects and Luchs isn't to shabby either with the 20mm gun

Then a Panzerschiffe is a tank as well?
It does seem ridiculous for me to be arguing about this with someone from Germany, however I stand by my assertion that Panzer just means it is armored, not a tank. Spähpanzer = Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle, Transportpanzer= Armored Transport vehicle, (Luchs and Fuchs) and the Centauro is a Radpanzer = Armored Wheeled vehicle.

The germans have terms for both in official speak:
Gepanzert = Armored
Panzer = Tank
Rüstung = Personal armor as chain, plate, lorica segmentata etc.
The M113, BV206S or Boxer are "gepanzerte Transporter" (armored transports) while Marder is a Schützenpanzer
The Wiesel, having all characteristics of a light tank, is a Waffenträger (Weapon carrier) not a Panzer
The Fennek is a Leicher gepanzerter Spähwagen (Light armored recon vehicle) replacing the Luch Recon Tank
Naval parlance is different again. And the term "Panzerschiff" and "Panzerkreuzer" are only used ONCE in offical parlance (Deutschland class) and that because the class uses a translation of the french term cuirassé. Germany normally used terms like "Gedeckter" (Covered) Cruiser etc. in official parlance. "Panzerschiff" is a press term and pre-dates the modern "common use" of Panzer=Tracked, armored vehicle by at least a decade. There it really refered to as "armored like a knight"

Ah, I see. All I can say is that the Germans have a very different view of what a Tank is from the rest of the world.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments, the building part is just about complete minus the tracks
found the figure in the spare parts box, I think its Tamiya, but I think it looks a little weird what do you guys think
Also started working on the tracks this morning took 45 minuets just to get 1 side cleaned up
Ill go back at the other side after lunch

Hey Sal, you could always cut off a hand and do something like this model by Brett Mahoney on track48

I was going to suggest cutting both hands so the palms are facing downwards - make them so they are holding onto the copula. To me though the figure looks out of scale, maybe it's 54mm (1/32) scale?

Jack

For the purpose of this campaign, the Sheridan. Scimitar, and Scorpion are considered light tanks.
The others are not.

everybody - sad news...I was going to enter the Academy M3A1 with AFV suspension and some goodies, took the dated picture (not up-loaded, yet) built the suspension, only to find that, contrary to AFV's claim, it doesn't fit the kit I'm not prepared to compromise and use the, frankly horrible, Academy suspension.
If I can get - and more to the point: afford - the Formations resin lower hull, we're back on track. Otherwise I might revert back to my original idea of building a Lend-Lease Valentine...
It gets better - just got an email from John, the new owner of Formations, letting me know the lower hull is not currently in production...

Howdy all, I just enlisted ! I got tired of following all the action and had to become part of it. My effort will be Dragon's Pz.Kpfw.38(t) Ausf.F, #6434. It looks to be a great little kit packed with all sorts of interior details. How to show them off, cut-away? or??? Anyway, I should be able to finish in a year. Happy building everybody !

OK, "acceptable kit question"...
Would the new Bronco Bruckenleger auf Pz.Kpfw. II ausf D1 kit 35089 fit in here? Just checking... I have several light candidates but I'm sort of itching for an excuse to order one of these and rip into it ahead of the others!
It's the Panzer II D kit with that bridge device mounted on top - it's a complete light "gun" (itty bitty pop-gun turret and all!) tank, with a bit of extra complication (bigger target, lots of wood to burn, etc. etc. etc. ).

Hi Bob.
I think this would be considered an engineering vehicle and not really utilized in the light tank roll.

Does this guy look better, my main project for tomorrow is the other side of the tracks

The hat is a little late for a 38(t). The beret or sidecap would be more accurate. I was looking at my Tristar 38(t) figure last night, and that guy looks pretty close.
