I was thinking by 44'-45' most if not all 38t's were converted into things like Hetzers and such. Good progress on the tank Sal.

IIRC the Hetzers where not conversions, production ended in 1942. The producer switched production to the Hetzer using 38(t) parts. The 38(t) simply withered away due to attrition

Thanks for the complements Greg. This 38-T will be emerging out of a Panzertragerwagen in the Military Railroad Campaign like in this photo
Photobucket
The solider in the foreground of the photo appears to be wearing the cap that I have on the figure. So I would say both Tank and Cap were around at the same time

If you're doing a armored train, that's probably accurate then. The 38(t) wasn't in any sort of front lines duty by that time. But it would have been fine running around the occupied areas on trains dealing with partisans and whatnot. Just wasn't about to go toe to toe with T-34s and stuff. It would be cool to do a panzer grey scheme and then have yellow + camo over it, but chipped away in some places to see the lineage.

By 1942 it was realized the fighting in Russia required heavier armour and armament, making the PzKpfw 38(t) inadequate. By 1942, it was relegated to other duties such as reconnaissance and service in armored trains/anti partisan duty.
Interestingly a book co-authored by Stephen J. Zaloga has an illustration of the 38(t) in the armored train role with a caption stating it could be found like this as late as 1944. It is colored dark yellow with the usual green and brown blotches.

regards,
Jack

A bit of an update.

Lower hull is pretty much done, except for some clean up to get rid of all the little fuzzyies. Next up is the turret, this part shouldn’t take to long.

The kit has a lot of really nice detail, but I think they kind of dropped the ball with the pioneer tools. They are so so. But trying to keep this OOB as much as I can I decided to go ahead with the kit tools.

Is it the photo, or is there a pretty sizeable gap in the intersection of the lower hull and upper hull in the front?

Hi John,

I would like to enter the campaign with a Polish 7 TP. I'm not sure if it would fit or not to the rules as it is a rebuild. The tank was build some 15 years ago, when I was a child. I have now removed the paint, and will use a lot of upgrade, like Armo suspension and gun barrel, Aber photo etching and Friul tracks.

Here is a photo of the collection.

So, what do you think, may I enter?

Cheers,
Istvan

Hi all,

I'm in with a DMLs Panzer IA with interior. I'm excited to build this at the same time as a Master Box Panzer 1A "Breda" for the "Armor Between the Wars" campaign. Hopefully the DML kit will have some left-overs to help the Breda a bit.

Hi Fellow Campaigners!

My contribution to this Campaign is a Fujimi 1/76 PanzerKampfwagen I:

I've already started building this kit over the weekend and during the Chinese New Year Holidays here in Singapore:

This kit features some interior details for the engine/transmission section and turret. But the tank tracks are a letdown - basically made from vinyl and resists CA and other types of glue that I have in my workbench. I may have to resort to stapling to get the tracks connected.

This kit is REALLY a handfull,so many parts, they really over-engineered for such a small tank, but that being said it is a good kit and is going together well,so far no fit issues.Bt with so many pieces progress is slow and tedious. Here are a few photos to keep you posted:

Great clean start! Looks really good.

Thats the way my little stuart is, LOTS of really small parts.

I am going to start building my 38-t soon and I need advice. How should I build and paint the interior?

Do I put all the bits and pieces in and paint it all at once, or do I build a portion and paint it individually? What is your expert opinion? Help for the poor newbie would be appreciated!

BTW, if it affects how should paint, I paint by hand using acrylics.

Thanks to everyone,

Mark

Mark,

I like to assemble as much as I can to ensure a good glue joint. But if your painting by hand, you may need to paint in smaller sub assemblies to be able to reach certain areas with your brush.

I would suggest test fitting parts and evaluate if you would be able to reach all the nooks and crannies that need painted.

Hope this helps.

Here’s a little update. Getting closer to paint. I still have a few small details to add. As you can see, I have one grouser installed on the turret. Those things are a royal pain in the rear. I have about 7 out of 30 assembled and the ends keep breaking trying to cut them from the sprue. I might have to add some crew gear to cover up the broken ends.

Looks great John. I've heard heating the hobby knife over a candle flame helps melt through those 'touchy' parts you need off the sprue.

Hey Greg, Thanks for that tip. I'll try that with the rest of them.
