I think it's because it looks so much like the Cadillac Cage

which the M1117 is based on. That wouldn't be a bad looking one to build either.

The m117 seems popular in this campaign ...

I thought there would be a flood of Strykers. As I haven't ordered my kit, yet I think I will build a Stryker. If I have time, I will go ahead with the M1117.

I'm being tempted by a Stryker as they can correctly be done for A'stan without slat. I never did find an explanation why it's mandatory in Iraq but not in Afganistan

IHO I believe that the difference between the two theaters has to do with rockets vs. ieds. Rockets or explosive tipped projectiles were more abundant in Iraq, whereas IEDs were the main threat in Afghanistan. Slat armor won't protect a vehicle from IED threats, but is a solution to exp. projectiles.

Hello all, I have just enlisted to this campaign. So I'm happy to present you my model:

An italian LMV (Light Mutirole Vehicle)
manufactured by Iveco company. The kit is from MK Model, a czech model maker.

Decals, Photoetched parts, resin parts and assembling instructions on a CD that I have printed for an easier use.

Here new wheels from Djiti Production, a french model maker(not in his catalogue because manufactured in a very small serie for people which have participated to his group order on a french forum)

As you can see the MK model wheels in yellow resin are too small.

I've decided to build Trumpeter's M1132 w/spark mine roller oob. Trumpy's strykers are on sale at www.hobbyeasy.com . Don't think I can beat $22.

Man! It's great to see some activity here! I love seeing all these kits AND all that resin too. Matt, a M1132? That huge shovel will look pretty cool.

I too want a Stryker someday.

I really feel bad about not contributing but I still have not received my upgraded parts for my M1117 yet, but I did do a little shopping last night for some figures (since Trumpeter didn't add any to the kit) so I found these from Legend:

To have in the turret.

And this one outside the vehicle. Maybe now I need a platform? I did run into seeing a Bushmaster. That might be my next modern vehicle to build.

Good ideas Jeff. Bad things for a few figures from Legend Productions, there are resin parts on the helmet not at the base of the head as usually for resin figures.

I'm sorry, call me a dummy but I don't understand? If there is a serious problem with it let me know, I don't know too much about modern equipment.

I think he means the pour-block is on the top of the helmet rather than the base of the neck....not a real problem. Cut it off carefully and sand gently. Looking forward to seeing your build.
I've outlined my efforts at doing ACU here if it's of any use.

Resin is notoriously easy to sand. I just finished five helmets that had a pour block on the top. Use a medium to fine grit sand paper, after your have sawed off the block.
As for the ESV, I will be doing the M1132 with the spark mine roller; not the mine plow.

Does anybody know if there is a driver's compartment that will fit the Trumpeter stryker?

If it's just the driver's compartment you want, might be worth it to get a Trumpeter Mortar Carrier version which has a pretty complete interior. I think they can be found fairly cheaply vs. resin sets.

Looks like, between my started Stryker, my campaign stryker and my donor stryker, I'm going to have a lot of spare parts.

It seems like I always end up needing one more for spare parts.

Finally, I found my camera. This Kinetic kit has been a real PITA The truck is in the paint booth, here is the Turret, and accessories that will be added to the kit. We have, Live Resin's Swing Arm mount for an Eagle mount, with a 240 Bravo, custom built .50cal rack for the back of the turret, extra ammo boxes, belts, and barrels for detail. Tanks M249 weapons family for the interior, and Pro Arts modern vehicle detail set for the interior. Without further adieu, some pictures

If anyone has the print out sheets, or templates for the MRE, and water bottle boxes could they possibly send my way it would be greatly appreciated.
