Looking at all your progress made me so jealous
I'm in the middle of final examination period in the university with the semester ending on April 30th and new semester starting on May 1st
I'll try to squeeze sometime to finally get my m-95 started
meanwhile
look what I found
Those (Insert a Southern Asian Country)-ians craftmanship just turned a tracked BMP-2 into a wheeled BMP-2
...on the same hull

Vincent....

Ok, now I know that you have to have the only computer in the world that hooks directly into the World of the Weird.

Any idea why they converted it? And I don't think that front end is totally original is it? Not really up on the ex-Soviet designs. To bad I don't have a BMP-2 kit, I would have to make one of these if I did...

I doubt if you will need it.... but good luck on the exams...

haha thanks Bob

I just like to look online for military news and stuff

here is another great invention from a South Asian country
I must salute their imagination
10a211d4-20fe-4005-ab6a-13f7599741df

and a ingenious designed ballistic launcher from i'm sure you know where

btw apparently the chassis is Chinese made or given technology, anyway, it should make an imposing model for sure
993fe569-4c71-49d3-8f03-d0799fa49769

finally, for all you scratch build addicts...
here is two nice subject
Ultimate Type-59 upgrade (to the level of type 96...)
14239763

and newest type 99 upgrade (new chassis, wheel distance not the same with ztz99)
14229352

Hey boys ,,, Vincent mate that BMP has got to be on of the best things we have seen in this campaign yet
Brilliant find dude and unlike poor ol Bob i have 2 BMP's in my pile and one way or another i am going to build that , will need to find out somehow what truck was used for the chassis and once that happens i think i will have found my second machine for this campaign and then i will look for a third .

Vincent i agree ,, leaf springs are old as hell but still used by many brand new trucks ..especially lighter weight trucks like in the 2.5ton to 6ton class .. but saying that Russian trucks will be like that forever i'll bet
As long as i can match the wheels the rest will be pretty easy .

Cracked open the box and started on this somewhat easy build. Let's not get too excited about it, it's an educational model of some "historic" value.

Academy has a whole line of these, a Loco Engine, water pump. catapult and even a paddle boat to name a few. I did not know the ease of this build 'till after it was accepted and disclosed but non the less, there it is.

Suggestions as to what YOU guys think I should do to the final stage of this "build" as far as weathering, etc.. I would almost just leave it alone or a subtle black wash to high-lite the panel lines in the simulated wood.

This is one of those kits that are self-powered, no motor, no batteries and is actually a spring that 'powers' the model. Something I do not plan to use but will try it out once.

So, that's it so far. Please, SUGGESTIONS please! No camo advice ... this is needed to look like a serious model and I will display it next to all my other armor subjects.

Jeff ,, well one suggestion is paint the cannon bronze and the bands around the wheels an iron colour, the wood i would paint with Humbrol 110 natural wood and then lightly wash it and try brush it ..would look pretty damn cool man ,spray it lightly and the wood grain should stay visible .

Interesting! Bronze, huh? Never thought of that as I always believed that they were gun metal black like as they are.

I'll have to get some bronze then! Are there any specific shades I need to look for? I think I have some gold spray and maybe drill out the ends of the cannons?

The wheels will not be visible at all but I will look into doing that too. I also think I will fill in the "lock lever" on top of the model that operates the spring wound motor to make the wheels turn. This should make it look more like a model than a toy, so it must be painted after that.

What ya think?

Tanks for the help Phill!

I also think to keep the kit from "free wheeling" around on my shelf (and running into my other builds) will be to cement the wheels so they do not turn anymore, since the motor will be disabled when I block off the access lever.

I cannot view the wheels (even through the glass shelf) so I will leave them untouched and focus on the outside. I went and bought some Gold Tamiya spray and then I will black wash the cannons after the paint dries.

Sounds like a preliminary plan.

Hi all,

@ Phill... enjoy this last "comic book" entry... the computer I am working on is on its last legs and I am just hoping it makes it long enough to do this entry.... New computer due tomorrow.

Here is my update....

The top image is the overall from the front. Notice the pole sticking up on the near fender? Well, it is a spring that mounted the marker lights... yes, a spring. The close up to the side is my rendition, solder wound around a clear rod. I still have to make the light assemblies for on the top.

The other front view is just to show the view ports better. Then there is the scratch built muffler. I knew about that... but I am still trying to work out the rear fenders.

@ Vincent.... I like the MBPV... yes, it is a lot like a armored tin fish. However, if you could find a couple more shots it could be an interesting build. After the ST-III I am not going to say Quick!

@ Jeff.... Your wood idea sounds good. I can't see these being painted... although I could see a flag of some kind on the top. Just a thought.

Later,
Bob

Jeff, I have been tempted to pick up those Academy kits, now that I see how basic they are, I probably will, thanks for sharing.

@ Jeff.... I suspect that is just the base kit for his build, as a Hetzer was for mine. Notice that the second photo is for a conversion set to an M-95....

To Jeff
yes the T-72m1 will be used as a base for M-95 conversion
the only parts that will be used are the lower hull, suspension arms and part of the back upper hull, rest will be from resin/photoetch and scratchbuild. still undecisive on the tracks, prototype shows a modified both Leo2 tracks and the old russian tracks

to achieve
m95_degman_l2

although not a "weird" but certainly one of the best looking prototype based on T-72 or M-84

Also, at least one thing is weird with T-72M1....it seems that it's very easy to blast it turret few meters high...

As the russian kids said after 1st Chechen: I did't know tank turret can fly

Interesting build, Vincent. I had never heard of that one before.

Welcome to your first campaign. Be careful, campaigns can be very addictive

Looking forward to follow your build.

I like that MBPV...It reminds me some vehicles used during 1st.World War...

If i found some more details i'm going to thing about it...Why not...?

It's pretty weird and strange...
