Hey Jhon, Hope you had a great day with some modelling time in it! For the tracks I primed them neutral grey xf-53 Then a mix of metalic grey xf-56 and red brown xf-64 with flat brown xf-10. Then I did a burnt umber and black wash(oils). They will get some pigments also.
Phil.

Ian - Urban camo on that Chieftain is looking great, a monster of a tank!
Lonewolf - Really digging your wire/plumbing/light guard work, if I can get my T-62 half as good I'll be happy.
Phil - The paint and weathering are fantastic, a top notch build.
Meanwhile... I am plugging away at my own T-62, It took about a week to get the brackets on the external fuel tanks, a couple sessions ending early due being all thumbs over a hungry carpet.

Hi Ian,
Great paint job, looking forward to the weathering. What book is that you are using as reference in some of your pics? Please don't forget the dimension/drawing(even if they are not accurate, I'll try to co-relate to reference pics). Thanks in advance.
Chivas is for scratch building
Glenfiddich is for painting

Hey Kurt.....the book I used is the Tankograd volume featuring the UK contingent of the Berlin Brigade. Sorry I did not get to the sketches this weekend. Ended up working on the yard all day Sunday and then I got sick. I will work on those this week and I will get the exact title of the book for you when I get home tonight.
Best wishes, Ian

Hi there,
haven´t done anything more yet, I´ve been stuck on a Sherman
and Hetzer for 2 other campaigns
@Phil: lovely job there mate, that NVA camo really looks the part
@Ian: so you still have some nerves left eh ? beautifully done, looks better than mine which I did 15 years ago (brush painted )
@Lone Wolf: nice plumbing there, it´s a shame Trumpeter
don´t include that in the kit,the turret is also cool
where is it from?
@Francis: yesssss! Another Chieftain, now we have a wartime
troop We could do a stand off with these T???? thingys from behind the curtain
@John K: stick in there mate all will be good
have you thought about using Trumpeters single track kit
for T54/55/62. There cheap and good you can see em on the T62´s from Nathan and Lone Wolf. Kit# 06622
@Nathan: looking mean and cool there, is also going to be NVA ?
I´ll get some work done on my Mk8 on Friday (hopefully )

The turret is from SP Designs and it is an update set for the trumpeter kit. The hatch periscopes are scratch using epoxy putty and brass wire. I am not really fond of photo etch so I try to scratch as much as possible for that 3-D look. Iwanted to do a german leopard 1A4 but they are hard to come by. The T-55 plumbing is great.

Paul,
I had not thought of those tracks, but looking at the 'bands' and my prior Trumpy bands experience, I just ordered a set from Sprue Bros.
She is coming along, but thanks for the words of encouragement. Definitely not one of Trumpy's finest efforts, but it is going together okay. Hopefully have a couple more pics soon.

Some great work on that T-62.
That PE is from the Trumpeter set or a AM set ?
@Philippe
I've been following your German T-72, those camo colours looks very nice, subtle weathering, great work !!
@david
That T-55 is coming along great !
Which AM sets are you using ?

Dave,
Great job so far on your T-55! Question. What did you use for those 'connectors' on the fuel lines. I want to try to do something similar on my Type79, but the only Evergreen tubing I have is WAY too big and it's the smallest I could find at my LHS.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Philippe----That chip job is really fantastic. Really adds to the camo scheme. Well done!!
David-----Great work on your -55. Looking forward to the completed project.
Paul----Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully I can make some progress this weekend. And thanks for the Chieftain tips and pointers along the way-----this Yank was very Chieftain ignorant.
Kurt---My primary reference, besides Paul, was Tankograd # 9001.....British Infantry Brigade in Berlin. Really a good Chieftain reference, especially for Mk 9's and 10's. I will get you sketches this week.....promise.
Best wishes, Ian

Hello John, if you can, look for MIG productions fuel line set. The set includes all the connectors and copper wire to do your T-69 justice. I got mine as a package deal with my T-62 when I bought it on Ebay. It really makes a difference and it is just the right size. If you look sharp on Ebay you may be able to find it for a couple bucks. Good hunting

Looks great so far. Try highlighting with NATO Black from Tamiya. That may help. How do you get that chipping effect down so well? I've tried 2 dozen differnt ways and mine still don't come out looking right!!

MS, The black coat is nato black...I think I`m gonna go with a black lighten with field grey to simulate the black painted over the green zone...Trial and error it seems
Thanks for the help, always great to have input.

Sorry MS, I forgot to answer your Q!
I start by doin the chips in a dark manner. The area with the most traffic and corner get most attention. Then when dry I mark the edges whit the color that should be underneath the first Usualy lighter.
simple as can get.
Phil.

Quick question (I hope!). This hole on the loader/gunners hatch. Should there be a part that goes there??? Nothing in the directions shows.
Thanks.

Nothing goes there because it is a flare pistol port.
