Phillipe- thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!
Ian- Re going to the ranges in the Berlin Chieftains, I bet they hit the wash rack quite quickly and then some! Seems like anyone on Berlin duty spit shined their equipment, and I mean ALL of their equipment! Seems like any U.S. stuff I've ever seen has been pristine, and I'm sure that standard applied to everyone's stuff! Can't wait to see the base mounted final piece. I think a sharp but simple base presentation really can class up the whole package!
Take care guys!

Ian, not to say that your model isn't classy before base mounting, because it most certainly is! Very cool subject, and an outstanding execution! Well done!

Ronnie-----Your T-64 looks awesome. Great shade-n-fade job on your finish so far. Even though it's a single color camo, you really brought it to life. Hope your PC problems get resolved.
Larry-----Great MERDC scheme on your -60. The brown and green variation, like yours, was always my favorite. Your application of the Black and Tan " Squiggles" really looks spot on. Great pic of the 1-1 scale -60, by the way. Sums up
how a -60 in Germany should look. Right now I am planning to do a asphalt/city street motif for the Chieftain base. Figured that would be fitting for this urban "street fighter" of a tank.
Best wishes, Ian

Ian- thanks again, I appreciate the comments. I haven't modeled much armor in recent years, and that was my first attempt in a long time to do a camo scheme like the MERDC. The next one will be different, as I see my mistakes that I made with this one...
Re the prototype pic, I think that really gives the feel of how the huge maneuvers of the 80's in West Germany were. Basically huge amounts of NATO hardware all over small towns and villages, and every road in between! I was supposed to do REFOGER twice in the 80's and my unit got stood down on both occasions... Oh well, I guess I'll experience it vicariously through modeling!!
Take care and have great weekend!

Oh, btw, to anyone on this campaign, I'm looking for a Blast Models BL 35180k kit, ""MRAP Accesoreis". If anyone out there knows where I might be able to find one of these sets, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Larry your M 60 looks really nice.
Assembly of the Stalin 3 is finished and it is primered too. I'll give it a couple of days to rest and then it will get some paint. I've been thinking of an Egyptian one..... we'll see.

Just an FYI. I had to cut the 2 sprockets on my Trumpy Type 79 and take a mm or so out of them, because the aftermarket Trumpy track links were narrower than the Trumpy sprockets. Go Figure!

Hi John K, that´s strange does the Trumpeter Type 79 have
different sprockets to the T55 from them?
Hi Larry, fantastic job there.
Hi John (JKB), coming on real good dude. I have only one pic
of a JSIII and that is in Duxford and it has a tool box
instead of the fuel tank. Also I have a couple of pics of the JSU 152 also at Duxford, that has the fuel tank you asked about. If you you wish I´ll post them, or is it to late?

John i know the feeling.... it really sucks when that happens with products of the same company.
Paul sorry for the late response. It was a rather long day at work. Please do post the pics. It's not too late. I've left the IS3 aside for a couple of days so the primer can sit in properly. Thanks a lot mate.

Paul, I will have to look. I have the old Trumpy Finn T-55 with Roller, so will look at it to see if I can tell.

Larry I drove an M60A1 with the 11th ACR on Reforger 78 put over 300 miles on the tank, we were in the field for 14 days all told. I can post some shots later. The Brits were on our side with that one we did a passage of lines though a Chieftain unit.

Tom, very interesting! I'd love to see pics, that would be very cool.... People think 300 miles isn't a big number, but it's huge in any armored system, and just for grins, about how many hours of maintained was required during those 300 miles in a field environment? Quite a few I'm thinking! Thanks for the input, take care!

Here is an update on my build. The driver’s compartment is scratch, whereas the engine is a Royal Model kit. Please remember that the interior is only a look-through interior; it is in no way a detailed model of the driver compartment of a leopard 1.
Hope you like it

Cool camo job, Larry. That M60 is really coming along. Looking forward to see more.
Very good job on the Berlin camo, Ian. You pulled of all those squares perfect IMO.

Kenneth------Beautiful work. You really brought those interior parts of the tank to life. Well done!!!
Paul----Great pictures of the ISU, 1/1 scale. Probably be fun to drive for a little Sunday afternoon jaunt.....with great head protection of course.
I got the base done for the Chieftain using a piece of MDF which I painted. Just have to flatcoat the Chieftain next and do the lens and antenna work on the tank and everything will be ready to bring together. I have a Union Jack, Kings Hussars emblem and data-plate ready to go for the front of the base as well. Light at the end of the tunnel...FINALLY!!
Best wishes everybody, Ian

Well it’s been awhile since any last update on my M48, unfortunately I’m going to be making a change to my build. The M48 and a few other models took a turn for the worse. We moved into our new house and I was bring up a small box with models in various stages of construction when my dog felt it was better for him to run back down stair while I was going up them. Needless to say the box went tumbling down the stairs.
So instead I have a Tamiya M60 in my stash I will build up, here’s the kit and goodies to go with it.
I’ve also made some progress on the build the last few days since I was not able to get onto the armorama website for some reason.

Small text update on the Type 79. Well the sprockets not only needed to be 'thinned' to fit the width of the aftermarket Trumpy track links, they also had to have 3 teeth sanded down to be able to place the tracks around them. Almost have one side done now, need to finish the top run and then the 2nd side. Slow, I know. Sorry.
Edit: still have to check on the T-55 sprocket compare.

Well this one is a wrap and posted up in the gallery. The presentation depicts a Chieftain Mk9 from 14th/20th King's Hussars, B Squadron, Berlin Infantry Brigade circa 1986-1987. The build features the following mods:
Rebuilt engine deck
Scratchbuilt turret box on the rear of the turret
Scratchbuilt radio box
Scratchbuilt light housing on the turret top
Scratchbuilt storage boxes on the turret bustle
New mud-flaps
Tamiya and Trumpeter Stowage
Scratchbuilt camo net from gauze and Hudson and Allen leaves
Removed ranging MG housing
Scratchbuilt orange "don't hit me light"
Paul, thanks for all your input regarding the mods to update this kit to a -9....you were a huge help. I also would like to respectfully dedicate this project to all those NATO Cold Warriors who maintained watch for all those years and kept the peace until the wall came down.
I will closely watch all the other projects still going on and everybody's builds are truly of excellent quality. Great campaign!!!!!!
Best wishes, Ian

Hi Ian, glad to be of assistance.
Fantastic build and paint job . That´s all there is to say really.
Paul
Oh yes, the 80´s were great in NATO Germany, I´d go through it all agian if I could
