Ian, I went ahead and started on mine. I'll post pictures after a bit. I have the springs, insides of the roadwheels, and lower hull already prepainted. Just waiting on them to dry.
I noticed the kit comes with a sprue from their Pershing kit for the 50cal. I'm assuming that's for the Baltic versions.
I also saw that they sent an extra weapons set for the figures. So I got me a few extra AKs. And they sent the old style tracks along with the Magic Tracks. So now I have a set of individual tracks for my old Tamiya SU-122 that I am redoing.
And moths tend to be either nihilists or anarchists.

Mike, Nope no DSHK. I'm not sure why they did it, but the Yugoslavian military used the 50cals up until quite recently, they may still use them on some vehicles. I've seen them on soft skins and older tanks. I've never seen them on Yugoslavian something like a T-55 or newer.

Gary I thought you were going to build a M18? Going to be interesting seeing what twist you have in store for the ASU.
Can’t wait to see some of the various T-34 we’ll have here, should be colorful.
Jeff good luck with your saladin, I’m sure yours will going together much easier than mine.
Well I’ve start some basic work on mine tonight and as you can see I have a lot of parts to work with compared to Jeff’s. I’ve already ran into a major fit issue with the front hull. The lower hull, glacis and upper hull have a really nasty gap that needs to be dealt with. But overall I love the details on the kit.
Good luck and have fun everyone.

Mike---you hit the nail on the head there. And my wallet holes seem to be getting bigger!!!!
Alex----I just found the M-4/M-26 sprue in my -34 kit. I freaked out because I thought they switched a parts tree by accident. Then I realized it's for the Balkans versions. Guess they like their trusty M-2's!!!
RAM ON,
Ian

Ian, I thought the same thing. I'm like all in a panic and then I see the blued out "a sprue" on the instructions. But it gives me an idea for a possible "what-if" vehicle down the road. You can see scenarios where the Western Allis team up with Germany to fight the Soviets. What if the Soviets had a huge reversal early on, like Moscow fell. The Soviets send plans for the T-34 to the US for production. You have the M-34 which is an American version of the T-34. I might have to file that one away for What If 4.

@ Jeff looking very nice sir!!
@ Alex OMG I don't think those holes are a bad design / casting I think you must have a bad infestation of the very rare & genetically enhanced French fighter moth!!
It was first deployed at Waterloo to attack the British / Belgium / Prussian forces to eat thru their equipment, I have seen it on vintage pieces of Belgian & British resin

Hey Christopher,
I got to thinking about why i originaly bought the M-18. I have Dragon US crew for it and an alpine fig plus Fruils. The more i thought about it - i wanted to go with the original plan. It worked out though - i built and painted the Type 97 Chi Ha for my nephew and in return he let me choose a kit and ive been wanting to build the ASU-85 for some time and it all just kinda worked out in time for this Campaign. SO....here i am with the ASU-85!
Your out of the gate early! your kits all resin? Ive been out of town all day and havent touched the kit since posting early this morning. So now im gonna prep and see if i can get some plastic together this evening!
Mike - I was so excited got get to it this morning and posted my kit entry and off to Dallas we went for the day. Ill try and make up for lost time!

Hey Gary, yes the kit is full resin with some photo etch parts. Should go together pretty quick like.
I’ve made some progress on the build today and even came up with an ingenious way to cover up those nasty gaps on the front hull.
Before
After
I’ve made a battered Lebanese flag to drape over the front and to cover up the gaps. I used two part apoxie sculpt to make the flag.

Oh? What problems do you come across Chris?
I have no progress pictures as I have not yet got past the first step where I have to putty in some sink holes in the barrel and the mantlet.

Thanks Ian I've been scratch my heading to to figure out the best way to fill the vod without alot of putty and sanding.
Jeff just saying that your kit is plastic and more foregiving than a resin kit. Alot of sanding and test fittting and the only thing I can work with is either epoxy glue or supper glue. I've ran into a few parts that are not cast very well so far.

Chris,
What a fantastic idea & way of hiding the cap with out hours of sanding!!
I will file that idea in case I run across the same problem in a future build.
Thanks for Sharing it!!

Well I spoke or asked too soon. This may have a low sprue count but I bet it will beat me up in sanding and filling in.
I'll have some pics later...

I've never built any of the Dragon T-34s and I have to admit I've been pleasantly surprised about it. I can easily see me picking up another one soon. I'm making better progress than I had expected. I've been taking pictures as I go and I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can.

Just a small update. I’ve began to do the layout for the dio I’m going to build. The base is recycled from another project I started but gave up on. The figures are a mixture of dragon, mig, and verlinden. Three of the figures were planned to use them in an Iranian project, but instead I’m going to use them as Christian militia fighters.
