I think I said... I am thinking about joining this campaign but... I am new to all this. I think doing the campaigns and watching you pros I'll learn a lot.
Having said that, I am a former Marine and interested in doing a USMC version. Any recommendations on a kit and/ or additional parts, decals etc?

Let me be the first to welcome you to ARMORAMA Jeff! Thanks for making your FIRST post right here on the Sherman Campaign thread too.

Off the top of my head I would suggest the M4A2 from DML or Tasca... probably the top of the food chain as far as the best to offer for the topic but, BISON Decals does make a comprehensive set for almost any Theater of Operation to choose from.
And of course there are so many Aftermarket (AM) parts that offer so much to dress out these kits these days it would be hard to list them all but the kits usually have all thats needed unless you want to take it to the next level.

Yep... prototypes are allowed (with photo documentation) and there are plenty of photos on Sherman Prototypes too.
I may have to jump out of the groove a few times and build a few for me as well.

Won't be to hard to build this and i can use a cheap kit for the chassis cause my Tasca's are way to good to cut up

I have that kit Sal, and it's unbuilt as well, but I also have the M4 DV, the Sherman Mk.III and the Firefly Vc from Dragon. Haven't built any of them, but the DS tracks on the M4A3 (that you have) are freaking NICE tracks. Light years ahead of the old Tamiya/Academy rubber tracks. Much easier to deal with than indy tracks too.

Assuming that the Firefly Vc is ok for this? Or are you going to make me build that pig of a Sherman Mk III kit for this? I have an old Verlinden British Sherman crew and a stowage set for the Firefly. Well, technically it WAS called the Sherman; Firefly was just semi-officially adopted by the units they were issued to. Just picked up a few Osprey books on the Shermie. Good late night reading!

Relax... all Fireflies are included.
Just want Shermans... no modifications or M4 chassis with a different configuration.
Like in the rules. No TDs or Egyptian converted Shermans. Israeli "SHERMAN" tanks (with original modified turrets) are also included as well as the Firefly. Just as the title states...
...Only SHERMAN TANKS Build.
Also, as pointed out in the rules, USA made prototypes with photo documentation are legal as well, so this will encourage some scratch building and or AM parts too.

I think I want to go with a flamethrower fitted M4. You can't get any more of an iconic version for the Pacific war than that! From the way I read the rules that's acceptable, yes?

I'm pretty sure the flamethrower would be acceptable. Was just rewatching WWII in HD last night showing some good footage of the M4s on Saipan. I've always wondered if picking up the Cyber Hobby Orange Box M4 Flamethrower would be a good purchase. Hmmm...

I couldn't remember the designation after POA, which is probably why I couldn't find it when searching the Interwebz...I think the Orange Box came with the DML US Marines in Korea, right?
