Sal congrats. I think that's your best so far. Awesome interior. Some pigment washes on the tracks would be cool.

John. Looks like your painful track by track is about done thank goodness

Paul. Good progress on Hetzer

Guys... I'm so mad... damn... there I was full of patience and motivation... when that big lump of single link tracks breaks into this...

Still picking some pieces on the floor..

Some parts are too stiff others flexible enough.
But I can't shape them to fit the idler wheels & rollers.

Well I'm thinking of some solutions for this almost finished ..

Option 1 :
Separate all the links again, clean them up again I start all over.

Option 2 : Make a small dio with a trackless tank & tons of spare tracks...

Option 3 : Start a new build... but this Pz38 looks too good to trash it away...

Option 4 : Get a new set of tracks

Hi John,
question:
is the running glued in place?
If not glue those disgusting track links around the running
gear and paint of the tank like I did with my Hetzer.

Otherwise go Friul

What ever you do donīt bin that beautiful 38.

Cheers

Paul

John,
If you have only glued one sides track then maybe you can create most of sections A,B for both sides out of the already glued links and with the remaining unglued links making up the rest. I did mine in sections like the picture below and allowed drying time whilst also getting the next section ready.

Max, I only glued the running gear.
Those big chunks of links can be separated pretty easily
(I hope)

I'll give it a try with your way... it might work..

Thanks !!!!!!!!

No biggie if you did love the camo pattern

Cheers Sal,
and yes I did that on purpose, itīs a vehicle straight from the factory and the front liners added only the jack and crow bar they had found in replen area. The as said came from the factory and they painted over everything.

Have a cool weekend fellow campaigners

Got the whitewash down. I didn't add enough hairspray so not able to show enough of the camo underneath. When I scrubbed harder some wore off to the plastic so this as much as I could salvage. Touch up detail painting, filter, washes, pigments next.

Great job Max !!!

I really like that worn look, tracks are great, figure too.

What did you use to weather it ?
What colours did you use on the tracks ?

Thanks for the comments.
The tracks where painted with left over base colour paint from my KT build, it was a 50/50 red/black mix, it then had a black wash, a dry brushing of tamiya x10 gun metal and then rust colour pigments. The weathering on the tank is chipping with a lightened panzergrau then over the top a bit of black/brown and then finally AK's streaking effects. All pigments used on this kit are ground down artist chalks mixed to create various colous.
Cheers.

This will be my entry:

I have a few Tristar kits in the stash, but have never actually built one, so i decided this campaign was a good excuse to see how good they are.

Hi Vance,

I'm working on the G version from Tristar.
The detailing is great, turret, bolts, wheels, etc are great !
I got a metal gun barrel and didn't use it, the gun and MG is very good too.
My only problem were the tracks, that snap system isn't very good,.. just give it a try.

Besides that it's a 5 star kit !!!

Vance;

Tristar 38(t) ausf B kit? GREAT choice, by me! I have, oh, maybe 7 or 8 Tristar 38(t) kits on the stack - the B, the E/F, the G. Just fab kits and great building, IMO. I did an E/F last year based on a 1941 Russian campaign pic - 38(t) in general looked pretty lived-in during that period and often loaded with junk, and I seized the opportunity.

The original kit is full of detail and very well molded. But natch there is room to tweak and add... A wood unditching beam, some different fender boxes, bits and bobs here and there, little chains, tiny tie-down eyes welded to rivets, wires and cables. That sort of stuff.

The kit guns are super nice and don't need metal replacements on these kits - but do work on that armored housing on the MG a little to get better inside "clearance" around the barrels. I think the tracks are really very nice - a little fiddly given the tiny links, and no, they are not "workable", but they go together fine with a little patience and will really look fine on the tank - both on the ground and as spares on the hull. But do bear in mind that the tracks may be the wrong type for the B... I think all Tristar 38(t) and variant kits use a later track style than would have been seen on the stock B tank. But I could be wrong...

The B kit has that early stepped driver's glacis - a feature which was in common for Ausf A - D tanks. And with some tiny differences and details, you can use the B kit to do any of these!

I think you'll enjoy it. I do confess that I am a Tristar 38(t) fan, but so what? I'm trying to be detached and objective here!

As I did my E/F before ever this campaign started, I'll just punt a pic of it in here to "plump" for Tristar 38's and head to my stash to see what 38 I'll pull up for THIS campaign. Maybe the Dragon "S"...

Cheers!

Bob
