Walter,
the tracks remain flexible enough to properly sit around the sprockets and the roadwheels.
Concerning the color, I'll try some XF-26 Deep Green as the Czech green looks darker than the Russian one, at least on the pictures I used as references.

Yes, Czech green looks like a brownish color more than a green one

Superb build Olivier!
I just stated my own t-72 and I have miniarms track as well...I'm not fully impressed by the quality of the product...bent and bubbly...And what are they made of? It seems they melted old slippers and molded tracks with it Details are nice tough.
Anyways, your tread is a must have reference for my build.
Felicitation Olivier.

Thanks a lot Phil. The tracks are made of a resin really easy to clean but a little too brittle in my opinion.

Hi all,
I didn't forget this build but as I'm building the VBCI for a built review for the site it was put aside for a couple of days.
Here are the first pics with the base paint which is Tamiya Olive Green. The rubber parts are painted NATO black.

Great paintjob, Olivier.
The shaded green tones look great and also the rubber color is very nice.
Cheers

Hi all,
I put this one aside while building the Heller VBCI for the review posted on the site.
I have done some progress. I put some decals on the "eyebrows". They come from the Kagero book on the BMP-2. I've lost the ones in the CMK conversion and the Tamiya ones are too big.
I still have a lot to do before it gets an operational look.

You're probably right about Tamiya. As soon as I completed my Accurate Armour Enigma conversion, Tamiya released theirs. Now there are rumors of a Tiran-5 which makes sense as I have the Blast conversion, so I won't be surprised to see a Kladivo in plastic
But Tamiya should retool the engine deck for this one.

Hi all,
I resume the painting stage on this one after my VBCI.
I tried the oil dots technique but to be honest the result does not look that great.
Comments are welcome.

I personally like your subtile weathering with oil colors.
Looks great so far. Maybe you could add some dust-effects.
Cheers

Thanks Walter.
It is not finished yet. I still have to paint some details like the various lights glasses and add the vision blocks glasses too before I go to the dust effect.

Olivier- what do you think is wrong with the result of the oil dot technique? I think it looks pretty good.

It looks good Olivier, That said I too, find that the oil dots tech is barely visible on dark colors. But it did gave some depth.
Keep up this awesome work!

Karl,
if you look at the front glacis you'll see large spots of faded oil paint instead of just thin streaks.

Yes I can see what you are getting at there. I find I get that kind of staining whenever the oil dots are left too long before blending them- how long did you leave them for? When I had this problem myself I used a cotton bud soaked in thinner and gave the area a fairly vigorous scrubbing and it seemed to do the trick.

Karl,
this is usually what I do when I let the paint dry too long. But this time, I brush the oil dots really quick after applying them over the glacis. I even moistened the model with thinner before applying the dots and the base was varnished.
I'll try to mask it a bit with dust or mud spots.

Olivier,
some time ago I had these effect with oil colors when the basecolor was matte instead of gloss.
After spraying a gloss layer of Future/Pledge/Klear the problem did not occur again. Maybe this helps.
Cheers

Hello all,
i think I can call it done. I "sprayed" some mud with an old tooth brush to give it an operational look.
Here are the pictures.
