These grills look perfectly done so far!

If you're worried about the metal meshes, you could also try to use some finer plastic tulle mesh. It would be easier to make adhere and glue it with plastic or CA glue on the structure which you've made. You should make some try anyway.

Congrats indeed

Hi everyone,
I've finished the base of the grilles, here is a little sbs of how I did it. Frank thanks for the heads up, at first I was going to scratch it all but using the already existant frame it saved a lot of time and the result is satisfying.

The small ribs are made from 0.020 styren rod cut to lenght and rounded with a round file on the soft side of my thumb I should receive my PE fret this week... So next will be turret assembly.

Thanks for watching and comments.

I've received my PE fret, a sweet kit indeed for a couple of bucks. Saddly the grilles are not of the right model as you can see here....

So I got to find myself some mesh...again
At least there sre some sweet other detailed pe on the kit.
Any words of advice?

Alex, those pics are mint! thanks a lot.

Thanks for watching.

This is a very intimate build log since nobody who has suscribed receive e-mail notice.... mehhh, still, here is a small update on the grilles. I still need to wear them down and glue the sides. I've used the mesh from the ET model fret and cut them to fit my home made grilles.

I'm 60% satisfied with the result. Next time i'll use samll plastic mesh or PE mesh with no fake ribs since the mesh on the real thing was over those ribs.

Thanks for watching and comments.

Great work Phil and a very brave move scratching these covers as I have tried and failed twice in the past.

I used the Eduard "Zoom" set on this kit when I built it. It came out pretty well, including those PE frames/mesh.

Looking good Phil.

Thanks a lot for the good words, I've finished the grilles.
I'm going to put them on today and start with the rear grille and exhaust fender...Does that make any sens? Anyway some more scritchyscratch in the near future.

Here is a small update!
I've worn out the mesh to my liking.

I had to patch the rear with a styrene strip to hide the positioning holes and lessen the depth since PE is thiner than the plastic part.

the rear mesh had to be cut to lenght to fit in but otherwise it looks just fine.

Just found this thread. The KV-1 is a cool looking tank. Im not real familiar with them but they look like a fun subject to model with the rough texture and all the welds and bolts. Would be a blast to paint. I may have to pick one of these up.

Your model is looking fantastic. I love the work you did on the grills and im looking forward to seeing your progress.

Great job on the grilles! I double checked my lhs, yesterday. Unfortunately, they do not have the Ehkranami in stock, but they do have a couple of the new KVs Trumpeter has produced. May invest in one of those.
