STOP!!!... Ribbon time!
Tonight I sat down. started up photoshop and whipped up a ribbon for the Postcard Challenge. I actually created several ribbons but the one below is by far and most my favorite. Since it pretty much incorporates most of the ideas mentioned earlier. Of course I would love to hear what you guys think of it because in the end it will grace your profile when you finished in this campaign.
Ok lads here it is:

Love the ribbon Robert, nice job.
My flakpanzer has arrived and I'm now just trying to find the perfect figures for the dio.

hi guys,
with just a few ours from the start i made a little sketch of my idea for the campaign. Its just an idea of what i had in my mind but probably i need to change some things to fit the base of 10.5 x 15 cm....
I'm gonna make the austin tilly from tamiya which is in service of the princes Irene brigade , its all about the liberation of holland en Jan ( the driver of the austin ) is gonna surprise his girlfriend Ansje that he is coming home from the war...
my sketch ( i'm not really a talent.... )
see ya!

Nice sketch you made there. Love your idea. Fun to see somebody creating a Dutch scene. Looking forward to your work on the Tilly.
I want to wish those that live in the Timezones where it already is July the first good luck in the Postcard Challenge. And to those where the first of July is still a few hours in the future I of course wish you the same. For me the first of july is still 45 minutes away but when the clock strikes 0:00 here I'm already asleep.
I sincerely hope people will enjoy this campaign for the coming half year and that we might see nice updates throughout. With of course in the end a group of really nice postcard sized dioramas.

1/7/13 here so.....
1/35th bits to start with as per my earlier diagram...
The lomg white bit is a plaster pavement and the cork sections are to build the cobbled road section.
The 1/20th bits, I have not posted much on this one as I wanted to suprise you guy's. The gustav will sit in 1 area as it takes up a little more than around 100x100 and 1-2 figures will be on a upper gantry area? Not sure about that yet but we will all see more later. It has taken me 2 years and the last few months to even decide to make a start on this one. Only decided last night on the final cammo job for it, but more on thatr at a later date. I decided on adding a little more to the interior (it has little more than a back rest for the pilot). I have a set of formula 1 seat belts as a harness which is a start.
The basis of the two dio's are: a group of british troops holed up waiting on a small french street in Caen waiting to ambush some germans? The other is of a capture mech being examined by a small group of engineers/mecanics before the pilot takes it for an evaluation test....

That is a nice selection of kits. That Dio with the Simca is going to be a nice and crowded diorama. Like it already. Also a nice surprise with that Ma.K diorama you have in the planning. Looking forward to that as well. That is a bunch of sexy engineers you got there
I also made some pictures of what I will use in the coming months. Bear in mind it is not all of it. As you will see there is an absence of figures which I am probably going to sculpt as well since so far I have not found anything that I can easily convert.
Ok here is the Huuuuuuuge vehicle
And a collection of assorted stuff. The white square is the postcard sized base. Furthermore I have a bag of cobblestones, resin tiles, Resin crushed fuelbarrels, an old potstove, Gas cylinders, A coalbox with lid, Some cork coasters that will eventually together with a bunch of styrene become the factory wall.
I'll probably will add more to it but I'm making it up as I go along. I want to give it that look of a forgotten backarea of a factory. The place where people usually only come to get rid of stuff they don't need. First stage will be about constructing the T-20 as the whole diorama will get built around that little tractor. And it will influence how everything will look. From the factory wall all the way to the figures.

So it has begun.
I'll try to get some starter pictures up sometime this week. I'm still getting some stuff together.
Robert, would a horse (or horses) count as a vehicle? Just in case my idea doesn't work out I'd like to have a backup plan.

Nice subjects and for some really a challenge to get everything on the small base.
I have decided what I going to build. It will be a famo with crew and stowage and some figures more, but that will be decided after the first steps.
The box.
What's inside and some extra's.
I will start tonight and wish you all much fun!

Hi Robert,
I was about to set-up the Gallery yesterday but a late dinner, some cool drinks after that with a 30 șC temp at 22h00 got me a little late on my schedule
Looking forward to see that Russian T-20 come to life.
Also hoping to see your RPM kit.
Take care !!

No worries there mate. The end date of the campaign is still a long way off. And in the end it is just a hobby. Real life usually gets in front of it.
I'm also looking forward to built that T-20 Almost a shame to make a derelict wreck out of it but it is the only way I can show off that beautiful interior.
And I'm making a habit of it the last couple of months to every now and then pick up a shelfqueen and do some additional work on it so in a few months you might just see the return of the Marder I superdetailing project.

Hi all.
This is my 2nd attempt at a dio. I can see the problems with my 1st attempt in hindsight and hope to avoid repeated errors.
Just started work yesterday on the 1/35 Tamiya Austin Tilly (Sorry about the quality of the photos)
A pretty leisurely 90 minutes later and this is where I am.
I'm planning on building a stone retaining wall and a figure or two milling about the Tilly. I'm thinking I'll cut a new piece of foam so it covers the entire backside of the diorama and acts as a backdrop of sorts. Plus the Tilly is swimming in space with the 10.5 x 15cm base so it'll help it seem a little busier.
The Tilly kit is fantastic. I'll definitely order another soon.
Really looking forward to seeing everyone else's work.
Cheers
Jeff

hi jeff
I'm working on my tilly too! Which version are you going to build? What do you think about the wheels? I think they are a bit flat....
I made some pictures of my entry and the house I'm going to build. The house is in its rough shape and it's going to be formed with cork...
some pics:
the roof is going to be some smaller , i'm need to cut some of it to look a bit nicer
the window is ok , the door is a different story i'm not pleased with it so i'm going to make it again.
see ya!

I'm going with the 51st Highland division. Simply because Mickey Mouse camo is my favourite paint scheme on any military vehicle.
I agree with you on the tires, the tread pattern is so shallow they almost look bald. It's the only real niggle I've had with the kit so far. War time rubber shortage is my excuse
If you're interested Hussar Productions make replacement wheels for the civilian and HD patterns.
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/hussar/hussar35097.html
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/hussar/hussar35098.html
So alternatives are out there.
I am so in love with this little kit. I'm seriously thinking of picking up the HD wheel set, a photo etch set and try superdetailing a 2nd one in a hood up breakdown scene in memory of my Dad. He wasn't in the army, he just had a weakness for British sports cars when I was a kid and remember spending a LOT of time helping him chase down electrical gremlins.
Loving how the house is coming along.
Cheers

I started with this project, but found out that's to small for my hands, so I have to stop this and will be back with something bigger, I thinks scale 1/48, that will work a bit better I hope.
Have fun with the tilly's!

I think that I'm going to buy the hussar wheels, they look very nice! I like the mickey mouse camo but I'm going to build the Dutch version of the princes Irene Brigade, just because I'm Dutch....
And I will buy a second tilly because I'm in love too with this car! Hope to see your car soon!
@ johanna
It's a very small scale indeed! Any idea what you are going to build now?
see ya!

Holy crap some of you guys are on a roll.
Fun to see the Tilly being built by different modelers.
@ Jeff
Very good progress and I like the rough buildup of your groundworks. That will look good when finished.
@ Peter
2 days in and already a building. You will be finished next week with this speed Looking good for starters. Looking forward to the brickwork.
@ Joh
Pitty you had to ditch the Famo. That would have been impressive. Still looking forward what will fill the empty space knowing your work I have no doubt that it will be interesting.
You people are making me look slow. Work on the T-20 starts on Saturday. First I have a 1:1 house to paint.
