@ Christopher
Ok mate all I can say is that I'm looking forward to your diorama. And if the online translator makes things unclear let me know.

@ Paul
1:300? I did not even know that scale existed. How big are those tanks? I bet in that scale you can pretty much fit the whole column in. And I bet in that scale you have some nice fiddly work with the scenery as well. But the advantage you have in that small a scale is that you can make a really neat big scene on a very small surface.

Hi Robert,

They do exist, and are used mainly for wargaming. Here are a few photos of some I have put on small bases (roughly 2.5cm by 2.5cm).

All the best,

Paul

LOL you must built with the windows closed otherwise they'll blow of your workbench.
But you can definately built a cool scene with those little tanks. Quite nice detail as well by the way for such small vehicles.

Hi Robert,
you ask about size ?
Well here“s a comparison:
Check the ammo box on the wing of this 1/35 Nashorn:

and here it is next to the track:

Yes I have 15 of them, I do“t know if I“ll use all of them yet Just wait and see what happens.

Oh yeh, before I forget there is a cool model show in Heiden Germany next weekend (6th and 7th April) I don“t know if that“s too far for you to travel but if it isn“t
then go buddy.

Man I have to start putting letters behind your names, we are swimming in Pauls currently

@ Paul B
My god that is small. Are there AM sets for it
All kidding aside this is litteraly a new world for me. How many parts make one of these little tanks? And what do they cost?
As for the event in Heiden. I was aware of it and the 230 kilometer is doable but sadly a big part of that weekend is already filled so no Heiden for me.

A base that's a square inch? Now I consider myself lucky I'm in the Postcard Challenge, and not the Postage Stamp Campaign!

Well, well -- those scales are beyond my comprehension, hats off to you folks

Cheers,

Robert, there are actually even smaller 'kits'. A few Japanese companies do some odd scales like 150th and 300th scale; mostly for ships. They're usually white metal and etched parts. HLJ.com has a few of the odd scales.

I'm not sure what I'll do. Still need to figure out what kind of figure poses I can dig up in Braille or smaller but I've already got a small list of possibilities that would be to large to do otherwise. I don't really want, need or have space for say, a 35th scale church tower overlooking a long narrow street...

This got me laughing so hard I nearly spilled my drink in my keyboard.

@ Christopher
Thanks for that info. I will look it up. Probably never buy it as that is way too small for my hands but I always like to know what is available somehow. And who knows in the future I invest in some of those kits.
And I hear you on size. I live in a really small appartment. There is absolutely no place for big diorama's that is why I learned to make dio's that are roughly the size of a postcard surface. I have seen a few pricewinning diorama's of churches or parts of churches and you really need space for those.

Hi Robert,
that“s a shame about Heiden, but there“s enough other
events coming up, Militracks at Overloon in May for example.

Those Hummels are sure sweet, they“re made of 2 parts, the gun and the complete hull and cost £7 for 5 of them

Happy Easter all

Ok cool. Pricewise that is very doable. Might look into it a bit more.
And I usually visit the big events in the Netherlands. Like indeed Militracks and the Twenot event at Overloon allthough it seems for now it will be the first time since the start if the Militracks that I can't go. Then the SMC in Eindhoven, KMK Scaleworld in Belgium and finishing off with the ESM in Nieuwegein in November.

Well going through my stash for the elements for my build in 1/35th I found some other bits which may mean I also try another build in 1/20th!! Think a bit of height, split level affair may just fit in the dimensions.

Sorry sorry sorry guys. I haven't shown my face in here for a while.

@ Keith
Welcome to this wonderful website and welcome to the Postcard Challenge. Don't you worry about your idea. There is plenty of time to think up something great. Maybe if you think you have something you could throw it in here to discuss it. And who knows the million pound idea comes right out of it.

@ Paul
I like ambition. Already plans for a second built. Unusual scale as well... Are we talking revell? or one of the old obscure and hardtogets from the dawn when scale was just a matter of calculating after the molds had cooled down?

So a little more then 2 months to go before we embark on the postcard challenge where big ideas are being realised on small real estate. And with 25 participants so far I think we are doing pretty well.

I already heard several very good ideas and some people are already set on what they are going to built. And there are people already thinking on second builds. Very good.
But I'm always very curious what ideas are running around in the minds of other participants. So if you like you can share them here. If you are doubting about some of your ideas you can discuss them with your peers here. let the creative juices flow.

And of course for those not yet enlisted but interested in creating a small diorama you are always welcome to join the Postcard Challenge. The more the merrier.

With friendly greetz

Fair enough fair enough. That means we have to practice our patience

I thought I had the perfect vehicle which came in last week. I bought Trumpeters T26 mod 31. Already thought out my layout for the diorama and today I checked the size on an actual postcard and what do you know.... it is too big. So back to the drawing board.

Hi Robert,i have a kit i'd like to use for this campaign. Problem is, it's not a new kit. In a sense, it's sort of started. Several parts have been cut from the sprue to get an idea of the total size of the finished thing. Nothing has been glued, just seperated from the sprue. Would this qualify for this campaign?

If not, that's not a problem. I'll go dig up something else

Ola Goof

Welkom in de Postkaart uitdaging
Returning to english so the rest will understand. As you said you have not yet glued anything. So basically you have an unstarted kit in your hands which is perfectly ok for the campaign. Looking forward what you are going to do for this campaign.

Count me in!
Can't wait to take part in my first Campaign here.

I will definitely be doing something in 1/35 scale so it's going to be a fun challenge to squeeze it on.
