G'day fellas
I've purchased a few extras to go with my Sd. Kfz. 7/2 (not that I suffer from AMS or anything like that . .
First, just about everything that Griffon Model can think of to replace with brass:
Second, some extra shells from Orange Hobby (there are also some in the Griffon pack):
Last but not least, a better barrel from RB Model:

Me again
I'll be basing my build on this photo, which shows a Luftwaffe Sd. Kfz. 7/2 in Rome in 1944. The build will be similar to this pic, but not exactly the same, as, after adding all that brass detailing, I'll want to open up doors and engine access panels to show off my efforts
If anybody can recommend a source for Luftwaffe flak crew in tropical dress (such as shown above) I'd love to hear, as at the moment I'm going to be using some Afrika Korps figures, somewhat modified.
Regards

I'm sorry...
It is a cool looking vehicle , but Skif. Uuuggghhh...
With the Trumpeter zu-23 and some hope of a mtlb in the future, and knowing Trumpy's habit of multiple versions, I will probably wait.
I am in with the 23-2 as a stand alone kit, and i might even finish in time.

Okay, Flakkers, I finally was able to get a photo of my kit, but I'm in a quandary--looking for comments from the peanut gallery.
I have the Tamiya Mobelwagen with 2.0cm flakvierling mounted, which never went to production--just a prototype for demo. I have a PE update for the 3.7cm production Mobelwagen, and I have a Great Wall trailer-mounted 3.7. the question is whether to do the quad from the kit, or try to swap out with the 3.7 (I have brass barrels for both). What do you guys think?

I'd go for the Flak 43 - far more chance of finding references.

I'm with either a 8t halftrack from Trumpeter or a Tamyia flak panzer, but I'm too busy at the moment to start this one, a few more weeks...

Mark,
That's the old school tamiya kit, pretty rough by today's standards. There is a more modern release, 1/35 Military Miniatures Series No. 237 (ITEM 35237) that has the 'right' gun AND is a more modern tooling.
For all the work you would do to the gun, to put it on the ancient Tamiya hull would be anti-climactic.
So my $0.02 would be to enter just the gun with all the goodies added.
Or just build the Tamiya kit as is, knowing flaws and all

I started on the SA-2 Thursday night and got some work done over the weekend.
It's larger than I thought it would be. We start with the missile. Two halves required some cleanup. I used tube glue to put them together. Clamped them and moved over to the Booster unit while that dried.
The booster unit was pretty straight-forward. I did have to elrage the location holes for the booster to attach tot he main missile.
Missile assembled. It's large. How large? Comparison picture included. The WIP pictures of the main missile weren't really usable. Basically, it's adding the stabilizer fins.
I've started on the launcher but I'll probably wait until I get a bit further along before posting any pictures of that. I'm enjoying this build. I'm already thinking of picking up another one. Maybe I'll mount the pair on a set of book ends. Or maybe, the next one will might find itself mounted on a turretless T55 or T62.

I think that's a good call, Mike. When I was building as a teenager I always thought the Mobelwagen looked pretty cool, and when I stumbled on one in a second-hand store while helping a friend load a cabinet he bought, well, I just had to grab it.

Alex,
Coming along nicely. I like your part holders--they're nuts!
I had made a custom alignment jig to make sure the upper and lower stages were in perfect alignment, but it looks like your solution worked just as well without all that nasty effort and stuff.
