I got a Cyberhobby M4a4, Miniart's British Tank Riders (NW Europe) and British Tank Crew sets. I'll probably be adding those to this campaign as well. I'm still thinking about putting them together with the Universal Carriers as a British unit on a road. I'm still debating on which units I'll use. Maybe a Guards unit. I may just do the Carrier and Sherman as two separate entries and combine them later.

I've got Miniart's French Gate base which may work as part of the base.

Hi folks,

Happy New Year to you all. Just noticed on Hot Stuff - Resicast are doing a short run of 200 set of airborne decals due out in February.

I'm building my first commission and, wouldn't you know it, an M18 assigned to Op Market Garden. If it is alright, I would like to review this kit, as well. From the instructions, it looks to be superb.

Nice kit Matt. I have only done a couple of AFV kits but they are very good. Even if they are a little pricey over here.

Started work on my 6lber too Pete. Bloody hell talk about fiddly bits! Should look nice when it's finished though...Hopefully...lol. I've spent the last few days building the Riich 6lber ammo boxes which I can heartily reccomend. Once they're painted up and the decals on they look the business. One thing I hadn't realised until I started putting the decals on is two of the later steel boxes are longer which I can only assume are for the APCBC-T rounds so if anyones buying them watch out for this. Cracking little set though as you get plenty of stuff in there plus decals for the shells and shell tubes. I'd bought some brass shells but may use the plastic ones instead as there's shedloads of them and they are nicely detailed. One thing I have noticed though is the kit cases only fit three shells rather than pics I've seen of them holding six. Most odd.

The detail is very fine and fragile. I have already needed to repair four parts and I'm only on step "5".

Im starting on Tamiya's M4 Sherman early version, I think I will go with the 3 part transmission housing and will probably leave off the skirts. Though I'm not sure what wheels to use.

Please do, Matt. I have this in my stash and would like to know how it builds up. I will follow your build with interest.

Well here's my first bits of progress, I have used some of my spare parts from my T28's Sherman's parts.

Here's a part that I'm making for the gaps above the tracks, it seems odd that Tamiya would do this, but this is a older model, I guess it may have been for saving plastic.

I've got a couple other projects about wrapped up so I should be starting back on this one soon. Great work so far.

Peter, I like that road. The Jeep and gun look great. And nice reuse of the Tamiya figures.

Matt, that Hellcat built up pretty nicely for me back in the 90s.

Tommy, The open hull sides is a Tamiya thing that they do on some of their kits. Especially their older kits. Good looking cover job. It's a good kit.

The Miniart British Infantry are pretty similar with the Tamiya "On Patrol" figures so I might mix them a bit. I've got some Dragon British figures but they are a little different. I'll save those for another project.

I've put the 6lber away for the time being as it was sending my eyes wonky with the tiny bits so scratch built some furniture for the main house. Very time consuming but very enjoyable. I made the books out of lollipop sticks which was a ball ache getting them the right size and then painting them in different colours but I think they came out okay.

The pot pourri in the corner unit is made out of a British helmet and some green putty for the filling then just added a bit of colour for rose petals.

The desk and filing cabinet are going in a downstairs room which will be an office. The desk is going under a window with the Bren gunner using it for his kit while firing out of the window. I'd got a few knackered Brens so used the mags off those and stretched sprue for the spent brass.

This should give you a rough idea of what it will look like. The Bren gunner needs a bit more work as I'm not especially happy with his smock. The bipod can go on once I position him in the window. I've moved the handle so it's locked down into a firing position. Think I'll do a bit more work on the buildings tomorrow.

Thanks Rob. Really enjoying this build as Arnhem's a battle I've always found fascinating. The figures are coming together nicely. I've done about 20 so far. I wasn't planing on using too many but now I've decided to populate the house on both floors I'm carrying on with modifying figures as after trying them in their positions in the house I'm running low. I'm in two minds now whether to use the 6lber or to use an Sdkfz 250/1 I'd started and never finished. I presume that will be okay as I'm building a dio from new so there's lots of fresh building going on. I thought that way I could have that knocked out with dead/ wounded Germans in the road being passed by advancing Paras adding to the whole urban element and confusion. If Pete agrees to that I'll do the 6lber as a small dio on it's own as I should be able to fit that in as a second build .

Fantastic work, Karl! I love how you've been able to capture the look and feel of the British para smocks. I'm sitting in my office looking back and forth from your pics to my mannequin with the original accoutrements (one of my 1:1 scale models) and am in awe over the great job you're doing. Keep up the remarkable work!

Hey Karl
Very nice work indeed. Some superb scratch building.
Stick with the 6lber though it is worth the time on the fiddly bits.
