Done some more work on the buildings. A bit more weathering to do before I fix them down, start populating them and put rubble etc inside. Waiting for some Bren ammo boxes from Ultracast for the Bren gunner and No2 going on the balcony before I attach that to the building. Seems more logical to do it that way. Still trying to decide on figures to go inside the bigger building but getting there as I'm still modifying figures. Managed to get some Wee Friends heads from Ultracast as well so it would be rude not to build some more Paras. I'd debated getting the Archers Airborne decals again but remembered that the para wings are the wrong colour so decided against it. A shame really as the rest of that set's nice if you just want glider troops in BD but if you wanted Paras in BD you'd still have to paint the jump wings on so a bit of a non starter really.

The roof tiles need toning down as they're a bit garish! I'm sticking two internal walls in downstairs. Only short so they're just suggestive of the rest of the building as it's not completely destroyed unlike the other one. Going to do some more tomorrow so more pics this weekend hopefully :-)

I also need to find/make some crap to go in the attic as it'll look a bit empty compared to the rest of the house...lol

Hi Karl,

Excellent progress, I like the furniture and the building is looking good. You have an interesting range of troops developing, well done Sir.

Cheers

Thanks Al and Pete. Had a bit of inspiration with figures over the last couple of days. Still waiting for some heads but thought I'd crack on with the bodies and get some basic paint on them so all I need to do is some touch ups once they come through. I have to admit I much prefer kit bashing so the poses are one offs in positions that I want them in. The two casualties will be going in the road somewhere (one KIA with his mate WIA) and I've posed them so they link as a mini story. As Al knows I like my figures to interact lol. I think the wounded Para with the dog can go in the corridor in the house on a door off it's hinges. The alert Para I think can go upstairs looking out of the side window. Cutting stretched sprue for the spent cases for the Bren gunner on the balcony took ages but I think it came out okay. Just need to matt him down and paint the jump wings on then I can finish off his number two and stick some empty mags and the Bren mag box (when it arrives) onto the balcony and attach it to the building. I've made a stack of rubble from cat litter and mixed some bricks in with it. Just need to saw some floorboards and burn them to mix in with the rubble. I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment with this as I'm really enjoying myself

The two casualties are the DML Bren team out of the British infantry Normandy set. I just rolled the Bren gunner over and built up his leg as it was flat. The way he's lying now I'm happy with as a dead body. What do you think?

Hmmm...need to do a bit more fillering and sanding on the Denison skirts. You don't tend to notice imperfections until you photograph them and they're about five times bigger on the screen

Looking good Pete. I'm quite impressed with the Bronco figures as they seem to be a nice build. Looking forward to seeing yours in the jeep... Karl

Thanks Karl they are nice figures remind me of MB figures a little bit. They should look good in the Jeep mate, a fair bit to go yet but I will get there.

Cheers Pete

Thanks Al, it's all coming together nicely now. I've started putting the rubble etc down on one side of the street while I finish off the bigger building and populate it. I've decided to go with the knocked out Sdkfz 250 in the street rather than the 6lber as I'll do that as a stand alone dio. After having a look through the Concord book "German Armoured units at Arnhem" (brilliant book) I may get myself an Sdkfz 251/9 as well as there was a fair few of them involved in the battle and have that knocked out as well. The 250 is pretty small and looks a bit lost...lol. Next move is to make some dead/wounded Jerries. I've got some DML wounded so may use them. Be strange using figures as is rather than kit bashing but having said that I've got a big tub full of Germans so I may do some surgery again so I've got casualties inside the halftracks...lol

Howdy Y'all
I got in a little modeling time and worked on my figures. I found a vignette base in my stash and will use it for this campaign.

The other figure is from the "Improve Your Figures" campaign. He also comes in the Dragon "German Grenadier Arnhem 1944" set. I don't know if I'll eventually include him in the vignette. It seems a little crowded; what do y'all think?

Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Got my stuff through from Ultracast and am very pleased with the items I ordered. Only downside was the arseholes at customs stuck £5 tax on and an £8 admin charge from the Post Office . Not at all impressed at that!

I'm happy with the Bren team on the balcony, just a bit to touch up and matt down then the balcony can be fixed to the building.

Quite a lot of progress has been made since my last post, the model has been painted in its base coat and some fading along the edges with lighting of base od green. The panels under the sponsons have been mounted.
I have started painting the figures, but they are still far from being done.

Did a bit more work on the large building today and started populating it. Once I've attached it to the street I can put in the figures on the ground floor.

I had a search through my "bits" box and found some stuff to go in the attic. The rolled up mattresses are big tarpaulins from the Tamiya seated SS painted to look like mattresses :-) . I made the suitcases out of Das modelling clay as I couldn't justify the cost of some resin ones as they're expensive for what they are. I'm quite happy with the random assortment of attic crap.

It's beginning to take shape now.

Superb work my friend. I like the camo on the troops very convincing. The interior is excellent, and it looks like no one will be making a quick get away on that bike in the loft lol.
Great work buddy.

Thanks Pete. I'm hoping to get the larger building in place this weekend and get the figures in on the ground floor. I've tried a few in the second building which I'll probably do but that means I'll need to convert a few more for the street near the knocked out half track with wounded Jerry POW's. The more I do on this build the more ideas I get. I've got about 17 more Paras built up already...lol
