Bob it looks like you already have this info but as I understand it the frame on the phone truck was stretched 8 to 10 inches longer than the regular vehicle?

Yes. I put it behind the seat mostly as that is where they moved the spare to. However, I bet you would be happier with the following...

Yes, you are right. The stretch in the frame was right behind the seats (or just to the rear of the transfer case cross member) to make room for the spare tire.
Still not sure why they did that. I would have just hung the spare on the far side of the tool chest body.
The phone company was still using these same tool box bodies - with standard civilian trucks - as I was growing up in the fifties and sixties.

Mike, I'm pretty sure that what you saw at your LHO was SU-76i by Dragon.
This vehicle-like the bit earlier SG-122(A) was another stop-gap solution aimed at increasing Soviet AFV production by using trophy StuGIII/Pz.Kpfw.III vehicles.But it carried a 76,2 mm gun and eventually gave way to the SU-76 SPG.

Well that's three of us for the campaign. I'm sure we can get the needed number.
Proposed Rules:
Any time period, any scale, any genre, any construction medium - interiors or exteriors.
Build can have any part scratch built but the work must be something beyond simple detailing.
(Adding bolts to a plate is detailing, not scratch building.)
Build blogs are most welcome, they should contain a link to the Campaign.
How-to's are encouraged. We need to share what we have learned as well as where we failed.
Builds from other campaigns are allowed but only one ribbon per participant to be awarded.

There are 2 more points to consider:
1.Will already started builds be allowed to enter the Campaign: I would suggest Yes-not because I have lot of these, but because we need a door that is wide open,
2.Duration of the Campaign: I think 9 to 12 months should be enough.

I personally like the idea of allowing already started builds because at any given time I may have 3 - 4 scratch projects already going at the same time each with a different starting date.
I very much like your expression "a door that is wide open".

Most of mine are more scratch-bash than full-on scratch-build, and often there's a lovely but pointlessly invisible interior involved. Pity there aren't more clear hulls around...

I like your idea for a scratch building campaign - could be plenty of fun. I'll likely need a month or two to wrap up my current project, and to think up something to build....hmmm? Time to start paying more attention than normal to obscure or unnecessarily complicated vehicles!

Definitely with Barkingdigger on this one.... if you let half-built shelf queens in then that Hippo is back on the workbench. Would give the push needed to get this one over the hump and completed!

I spread the word about the Campaign among fellow modellers.Two of them will register on Armorama and take part in it.
One proposal also came out of yesterday's meeting- to have a special ribbon for participants, that finish 3+ builds within the Campaign timeframe.
